Sophie Mirabella Caption Competition!

July 3, 2012

Oh dear!

GetUp! director Simon Sheikh passed out live on television last night on Q&A, making an “audible thud” as his head hit the table.

Greg Combet and ABC crew immediately rallied to his aid, however the reaction of Liberal MP Sophie Mirabella was less than sympathetic.

The twitterverse quickly leaped into action:

“If I’m ever in need of first aid I really hope the first person on the scene isn’t Sophie Mirabella,” tweeted columnist Joe Hildebrand.

Perhaps a suitable caption for the picture above is in order…?

It certainly was an ugly look……

Although the anticipation of the Sheik v Mirabella battle on Twitter and elsewhere might just have had Sophie wondering what sort of stunt he was pulling. My initial reaction (and Combet’s from what he said) was that it was a kind of stunt, rather than him passing out as it turned out.

I think the more nasty presumptions have been a bit unkind (and yes, I know Mirabella doesn’t deserve any kind of sympathy because she rooted some old bloke for his money etc etc)

Initially I thought Mirabella couldn’t bring herself to touch him, in the end she placed a hand on his arm (aware of the others concern), too late though, her first instinct was to jump away from him. She’s a headkicker for sure and in battle mode, couldn’t show kindness to a perceived enemy, if it was one from her own side, she would’ve been all over them with motherly concern.

I was pleased to see that Greg Combet jumped up, bugger the show, and sought to do whatever he could to assist someone in trouble – I have always thought him to be a very humane person.

On the whole, I find Mirabella is quite off putting and unlikeable, the jaw juts, she shouts over the top of everyone, gotta have the last say and basically wants to have a shitfight over everything.

He must have been listening to himself. He often has that effect on others.

Despite the “defence” above, Mirabella, was pretty pathetic (in many ways … but this incident in particular) … (I watched it “live”) … interesting that, Greg Combet, was the first person to reach Simon (around, Tony Jones, and, Ms Mirabella) … lots of guff from Mirabella during the night and but, but, buts … silly loudmouthed classical Liberal nonsense and statistical misinformation … and, Grahame Morris, with his glib one liner slogans obviously thinks he still part of the Liberal Stormtroopers …

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

On a lighter note (seeing that Simon is no worse for wear) …

Perhaps a suitable caption for the picture above is in order…?

    GetUp, Simon, GetUp …

Hey! The guys a radical! No Coalition neo-cons don’t dirty their hands by touching such people. They may catch a bout of the rational thinking disease!

‘They may catch a bout of the rational thinking disease!’

So you are saying the CO2 tax is a rational thought?

Care to talk about the science?

“So you are saying the CO2 tax is a rational thought?”

You know it was always said that one day governments would tax the air we breath. By taxing CO2 they are taxing the air we breath out. It will only be a matter of time when they work out how to tax oxygen.

Sorry (I’m not really)…but that reaction goes to the root of a person. What a selfish, skittish, precious piece of shit she is.

Dunno how many of you are first aiders, but imo a decent person’s first reaction is to try & help .

That scum showed her true colours…or rather, confirmed her true colours.

I can only imagine the clamour if the shoe had been on the other foot.

Hey TB, you stole my bit!! http://moroniclodge.wordpress.com/2012/07/02/get-up-simon/

Normally I love an instant full-bore judgement, but in this case I think the shock factor makes it difficult. If Mirabella is to be condemned, then Tony Jones would have to cop the same. I once, as a young kid, came unexpectedly across someone having an epileptic fit – scared the absolute crap out of me – never forgot it – found it very disturbing.

But it was interesting how much easier it was for the crew to react “normally” – while the talent seemed stuck in la-la land (with Combet the honorable exception of course.)

“It will only be a matter of time when they work out how to tax oxygen.”

Just wait for the promise, Neil… “There will be no oxygen tax under the government I lead.” Jules could swing it, I reckon.

The indifference of Mirabella to the plight of a get up ratbag will pale into insignificance tomorrow, when the CERN scientists announce they have discovered the ‘god particle’.

We can expect to see the mothership at any moment, but more than likely just before Xmas.

Hey TB, you stole my bit!!

Victor, pure coincidence, I can assure you! Others may stoop to plagiarism but as the owner of quite a lot of IP, not something I “condone” in any shape or form … 🙂

We can expect to see the mothership at any moment … now that’s plagiarism, Victor, “… use of an original idea or creation …”

egg, I can assure, The Mothership, is in daily communication with me and its arrival – though imminent – is not due within normal human understanding …

    You humans …

    +++++++++++++++++++++

Mirabella’s reaction was not one I would expect from a “caring person” that’s for sure … there’s “shock”, “surprise” and then there’s a … WTF! distaste … dumb, yuk, don’t touch me, you’re sick … reaction …

Go on say something, you'll feel better...
