Asylum Seekers Celebrate New Gillard Govt “Red Carpet” Detention Policies!

Asylum Seekers “celebrate” new Gillard Government policies

Reports are emerging that asylum seekers in Indonesia have swung into “party mode” and labelled Julia Gillard a “hero” after learning they will receive welfare payments and rent assistance should they make it to Australia by boat.

The wannabe citizens are ecstatic the government has conceded detention centres are beyond maximum capacity and that asylum seekers will be released into the community while their applications for refugee status are being processed.

Under new plans, asylum seekers will receive generous financial and housing support – as well as free health care – a massive boost from their conditions in Indonesia where many are struggling to afford food.

In order to ensure there is a smooth transition into Australian mainstream society, asylum seekers will be invited to attend an optional tax-payer funded “welcome to Australia” orientation program.

This twelve week course will be held at some of Australia’s finest five-star resorts and offer asylum seekers the opportunity to experience some of Australia’s most commonplace cultural traditions.

The program includes:

Champagne Etiquette

Is it acceptable to serve guests Australian sparkling at your next dinner party, or will only genuine French Champagne do?   With guest speakers from Australia’s finest wine producers and Claude d’Hautefeuille from Bollinger, France. Includes complimentary canapes and champagne tasting.

How to throw a Wine and Cheese Party

Discover the charm and sophistication of the quintessential Australian wine and cheese evening.  Find out how to select only the finest red wines for your family and friends with suitable accompanying cheeses.   Sponsored by Wolf Blass and the House of Beaufort Cheese (France).

Dressing in Style

Contrary to popular belief, the burqa is becoming increasingly fashionable in Australia and is widely tipped to be the “must have” fashion accessory in 2013.  Asylum seekers are encouraged to wear the burqa with pride in your new home and whenever you’re out in public to facilitate wider mainstream uptake.

Shopping for Grog

Visitors from Alcoholics Anonymous will explain the do’s and don’ts of shopping for alcohol, including a round up of the best buys from Dan Murphy. Discover how buying in bulk can save you time and money and win you new friends at the same time! Receive a $250 Dan Murphy’s voucher just for showing up!

How to make your own party drugs on a budget

One of the draw backs of living in Australia is that party drugs can be expensive, particularly if you’re planning on making a habit out of it. However in this two-hour session you’ll learn how to make your own party drugs more or less safely at home. Includes a crystal meth demonstration, take home kit and party pack.

Dealing with Racial Intolerance

It’s a sad reality that you may encounter some religious or racially motivated abuse from ethnic Australians as you go about your daily routine. This could happen anywhere at any time, including at the cinema, supermarket or ice-cream shop.

However it’s important not to over react.

If you have a weapon, you should just kill these people, the same way as you might a homosexual or adulterous woman back in your own country. Just remember to claim “self defence” when the police arrive and everything will be fine.

Leader of the Opposition Tony Abbott has denounced the new Gillard Government initiatives while Greens Leader Christopher Milne said they didn’t go far enough.

Greens Senators Christine Milne, Cassey O'Connor and Sarah Hanson-Young attend press conference in Canberra dressed in burqas.

Greens Senators Christine Milne, Cassey O’Connor and Sarah Hanson-Young attend a press conference in Canberra dressed in burqas.

Speaking at a press conference in Canberra earlier today Senator Milne said that asylum seekers are “damaged people.”

“It’s important that we respond with a great deal of cultural sensitivity to ensure their transition to Australian society is as peaceful and smooth as possible.”

“Accordingly I will be asking the government to introduce new legislation banning the sale of pork or products containing pork in Australia henceforth.  The last thing we want to see is another Cronulla” she said.

Gay groups also agree.  Gay activist Rodney Croome conceded it might be time to wind back the controversial “homosexual agenda”.

“Look I think we’ve had it too good for too long now, and while marriage equality might be important, it’s perhaps more important to have a united harmonious society” he said.

“For this reason I would like to see the Government introduce some sort of badge of identification for homosexuals, so that muslims don’t inadvertently encounter one by mistake.”

“A pink triangle has worked in the past” he said.

Perhaps gays could just start wearing them voluntarily?  They needn’t be compulsory at first.

In a surprise development, the New South Wales Taxi Drivers’ Association has welcomed the move, with Newcastle representative Simon Sonul saying the government funding will help protect jobs.

“Usually they (asylum seekers) come here and take our jobs, but with this government funding our jobs are safe” he said.

Whether that remains a positive outcome for the Australian taxi traveling public remains to be seen.

We can laugh at rebs post but consider this.

If you gave someone $220 per week in Indonesia they could live like a King or Queen for a month

So this criminally incompetent government has now broadcast to the Third World that it will hand every boat person arriving here $220 per week.

The problem is that the boat person only has a concept of the cost of living in their own country. It is an irresistible incentive to jump on a boat,.

The day will surely come when even President Bambang Yudhoyono will appear in a boat on the horizon

And the dickheads in the ALP wonder why the boats keep coming.

‘The Refugee Action Coalition brought the challenge on behalf of the Sri Lankans, who claim they were due to be deported on the orders of Immigration Minister Chris Bowen this morning. At 4.30pm yesterday, they sought an injunction to stop their removal and received an undertaking that they would not be removed before their case was heard again on Thursday.’

Fear, no they (the refugee and economic migrant so blatantly defying law) just so plainly represent why government in itself is the answer to nothing. I was under the impression citizens should care when their governments hold that some treaty with the UN trumps their own rights and makes a mockery of their laws? When national sovereignty is ceded to a form of “controlled anarchy” at the highest levels of government; it can only lead to more of the same and what you get, as is evident by this debate, is moral equivalence of the law itself. Honestly, if government is unable to efficiently handle the most basic of its duties and functions, why do so many have such faith in it? It seems here in the West there is this “arrogance” and dismissive mindset that their respective countries will never go the way of some of these developing nations…They are mistakenly ignorant as have been all major civilizations in the past that have gone to the dust bin of time in much the same fashion and with the same level of complacency.

This blog for example, spends countless posts debating “he said she said” and “who is the biggest liar”, bore…Keep the “populous” arguing over “shit” and they become too immersed in it to notice what is happening around them. Little by little, insidious in nature their countries crumble around them. Mine, it’s lost, on its way out…Australia, soon after as they seem hell bent on importing the worst of my country; in culture and politics…Geography is the only factor which will aid in slowing its demise.

The trickle down Reagan-omics teabag theory of more tax cuts/breaks for the richest is the claim the rich will have more money to grow the business, create more jobs, pay higher wages, thus workers and business consume more, which generates more tax.

The religions have been hijacked by the corporate types by paying lip-service-only to the slutishness of ‘other’ women and trumpeted hysterically about abortion. While the religious have salivated on this, (and gay marriage too by the way) the religious have been duped into not questioning the morality of the corporations. There is not an industry in america that does not have morality issues. Big oil pollutes the world, even america, with destructive work practices, Exxon Valdez and Gulf of Mexico have destroyed american lives. Fracking Gas, Pacific Gas & Electric (thats Erin Brockovich to you dumb motherf–kers) have poisoned american children.

Every american has the right to bear arms and nobody has the right not to be shot, or the right to medical if they are.

Lets not leave out the weapons makers who make lots of money when america runs off to another war of bullshit to murder people in other countries, kidnap and torture people offshore, but lets worry about abortion.

LOL…ok, this is as close as you came to a rebuttal of my post but of what I am not sure…Calling it “gibberish” does not make you the wiser man and challenging me to “explain it” after declaring it gibberish makes you look like an idiot. If you don’t understand what I am saying then ask for clarification genius, not go on some tea-bag rant, personal insults etc…So if you would like to have a discussion, pick a post, respond to it and I will do the same…Going off on some tangent really just makes you look like a buffoon.

I just adore left wing double talk…Trying their best to have conversations that never existed in an attempt to make a point that was never remotely relevant and then declare themselves “winner”; of what I have no idea…You highlight this phenomenon so well “toot”…

Climate change denier? Are we discussing that now because it was referenced? Oh yes “Climate Change denier” now used to describe what use to be labeled the “global warming” denier but since the warming thing hasn’t really panned out lets label it “climate change” because climate tends to do that, change and all…

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2093264/Forget-global-warming–Cycle-25-need-worry-NASA-scientists-right-Thames-freezing-again.html

Warms, cools etc just what is causing such change is where you will find the real debate…Ok, I have a very basic question since you seem to be an authority which has been posed her before but never answered…

If man is responsible with warming today and even the “scientists” agree it has warmed and cooled many times before in the last 4.5 billion years without the “help” of man, then why pray tell is it “us” now and not said conditions which caused such cooling and heating before?

You see genius; this is called a conundrum one that is central to any premise around global warming being due to mankind. It is the question “real” scientists ask, not peddling circumspection in search of the almighty grant dollar….Unfortunately, not only will you not answer said question but the simple reality is YOU CAN’T…Chew on that or babble on about tea bags a bit more if you would like, medicate or whatever…Theories are meant to be “CHALLENGED” YOU DO UNDERSTAND THAT DON’T YOU? I am sorry you are that “person” that clings and backs anything that “sounds” intelligent or is typo free..LOL…We call them lawyers, politicians and car salesmen for whom you are a “wet dream” . Maybe we can pin this phenomena on European Imperialism some 100 years ago?

We can pin it on US style capitalism, the idea that everyone should have the dream of great wealth if you simply work hard very hard. Only trouble is there is also an idea that hardworking people should not pay tax to support the millions that don’t get to be part of the great american dream. They, of course must be the lazy, undeserving and sluttish ones.

Enormous profits being made by large corporations, CEO’s and the wealthy and the teabaggers can’t see that their anger and resentment should be directed at the big end of town, those who aren’t paying their share because of tax cuts and incentives.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/11/business/economy/a-tax-code-of-politics-not-practicality.html?ref=eduardoporter

…Our byzantine tax code is built upon a longstanding political deal: Democrats wanted a tax scale with higher rates for richer Americans to finance social programs aimed at the poor and the middle class. Republicans countered by pushing for tax exceptions, exclusions and deductions that shielded the incomes of the rich from the taxman and reduced government revenue.

This compromise has left us with a loophole-riddled code that isn’t very good at raising money…

…Compared to other developed countries, the United States doesn’t collect much tax at all. Tax revenue at all levels of government adds up to less than 25 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product, putting us behind every other rich country and even some poor ones. Among the 34 nations in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, only Mexico and Chile collect less in taxes. The average across the O.E.C.D. is 9 percentage points higher.

Just because women of the west have it better than those more oppressed in other countries, does not negate the male domination in all institutions of influence and power in western society still. Another illogical 'look over there' argument.

Honestly Kitty, “white male”, racist….Like I mentioned to TB, everything on the left is seen in the context of race, gender and class with you lot…

    Maybe because it is.

Teabaggers just can’t see that race, gender and class are used as political tools to divide the country and profit the wealthy, these ‘useful idiots’ will even vote against their own best interests!

    The Great American Tax Debate:

…Economists and other social scientists suggest that the uniquely American discomfort with taxation may be a permanent feature of our society, one that holds in good and bad economies.

Some argue that the nation’s racial, ethnic and cultural mix undercuts support for taxes among whites, who believe government spending is a tool to transfer their hard-earned dollars to minorities who are different from them.

Others have suggested that what differentiates Americans is a belief in the fairness of the economic system — which allows us to accept income inequality as the result of an economy that showers its largess on the most talented, hard-working and productive citizens…

In other words, racism, bigotry and ignorance.

You do understand for instance that I couldn’t really give two shits about some selfish person whom is irresponsible enough to find herself pregnant doing what she wants to do with her body…

I am sick of this incompetent body making demands in defiance of others national sovereignty while ignoring the realities of the “boat people” or shall I say economic migrant. What no mention of the “country” shopping? Apparently “poverty” has made the list of what makes a refugee these days…Like most of the Asylum/open borders crowd they simply have no solutions for the dire consequences that plague the rest of the world so hell, lets import it…Make these issues somebody else’s….

No Sparta, people are entitled to claim asylum and while ever we are signatories to the UNHCR we have an obligations to meet this standard.

If the government chooses to punish innocent people in order to send some signal, then it should also advise the UN that it will no longer meet its obligations. The government seeks to have it every possible way on this issue, and deserves to be condemned for its current policy as well as all the previous poll driven variations.

Labeling is how some try to “understand” what they cannot so I don’t fault you for that and I am rather brazen in my use of vocabulary because it is simply the “American Way”. They get to dictate from “NYC” oddly enough. Now if it were the US making such demands on Australia, would you be such a supporter? I hardly doubt it…LOL

Hey, what do you know, I am agreement with this report on many instances but for a few. Clearly it was formulated by “racists”….

There are no practical obstacles to withdrawing from the Convention. Article 44 (2) states that any contracting state can denounce or withdraw, with one year’s notice. Such a move would be unprecedented-no state has ever withdrawn. The threat of instant international pariah status is however less compelling at a time when the asylum system is widely seen as ‘broke’. Australia’s credentials on refugees and managed migration are unsurpassed, and it has played above its demographic weight in international forums on migration and refugee issues. Australia could stay within EXCOM. In theory, withdrawal from the Convention would free up a considerable amount of money which could be redirected to countries of first asylum. It would also enable Australia to recommit to a sizeable offshore refugee resettlement program. While Australia is obviously not a large enough player to lead the world, it could thus provide an impetus for reform.

Withdrawal might not however provide an immediate practical solution. Asylum from political persecution and the principle of non-refoulement have become part of international customary law; the government and the judiciary would still have to process and deal with claims. As well, Australia is party to other treaties which prevent people being sent back into situations of danger, or gross violation of their civil rights, namely the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Convention Against Torture and Other Degrading and Inhuman Treatment (CAT).

Withdrawal from the Refugee Convention would however enable Australia to develop and regularise, on its own terms, more transparent and understandable criteria and provisions for dealing with on-shore asylum seekers.

‘Until recently, the vast majority of asylum seekers applying for protection in Australia have arrived originally by air with a valid visa and then applied for asylum at a later date while living in the community.

‘Historically, boat arrivals only made up a small proportion of asylum applicants— estimates vary, but it is likely that between 96 and 99 percent of asylum applicants arrived by air.

‘More recently the proportions of Irregular Maritime Arrival (IMA) and non‐IMA (that is air arrival) asylum seekers have shifted due to the increase in boat arrivals. However, boat arrivals still comprise less than half of Australia’s onshore asylum seekers.’

The majority of ‘over stayers’ on average have been here for more than 10 years. And guess what the sky hasn’t fallen. The refugee ‘problem’ and the ‘illegal’ problem is just bullshit and the fact that both sides of mainstream politics construct it in roughly the same way is a disgrace.

‘They work in factories, orchards, fishing and construction, but their illegal status leaves them vulnerable to abuse by unscrupulous employers, corrupt police and officials.’

Its the same here…Illegals are treated like quasi slave labor, exploited by big business and politicians alike….

“The majority of ‘over stayers’ on average have been here for more than 10 years.”

Even Tide really should head back to their much maligned TAFE College themselves it would seem. Though I doubt he’d pass the mathematics entry level exam.

Or perhaps they are looking for a “political backdoor” escape by not specifying “overall” or “absolute”……………Hang on……….silly me assuming he’d even know the difference

“……….MORE than half of the overstayers have called Australia home for five or more years. ABOUT 20,000 have lived here a decade or more.”

Mmmm………….20,000 out of 58,000 is not an absolute majority

‘THE Gillard government is now the third largest recipient of its own foreign aid program, opposition foreign affairs spokeswoman Julie Bishop says.

‘Speaking after the decision by Foreign Minister Bob Carr to divert $375 million from the aid program to fund the cost of asylum-seekers being processed domestically, Ms Bishop said it showed Labor’s budget was in crisis.’

I heard on the radio that to get a place on the UN we had to give more foreign aid. Some of that foreign aid we are now giving to ourselves. The allegation on the radio is that the govt has lied to the UN.

Looks like it is true. Labor lied about increasing foreign aid. But I guess it is just a white lie. We are giving $375M to ourselves. Serves the countries right who voted for us for trusting Gillard.

“Acting Opposition Leader Julie Bishop said that the aid cut sent a very bad message at the start of Australia’s two year stint on the UN Security Council. Ms Bishop said it was key plank of Australia’s pitch that it would increase aid spending to 0.5 per cent of gross national income.

“They have mislead countries into voting for them,” Ms Bishop told reporters in Melbourne on Tuesday.”

Yes, isn’t it just great to see the government diverting our cash from wasteful foreign aid to our domestic priorities??!!

This is a government with such a clear sense of direction.

I feel so proud of their financial priorities.

    OI!

Dear oh dear Wally. I suspect you are trying hard but you have no command of the language or at least as to how it’s used in educated circles. Here’s a few examples:

Even Tide really should head back to their ..

‘Their’ is plural Wally. Perhaps ‘Even Tide is a ‘collective?. Do you really believe that?. But wait:

    doubt he’d

No doubt Wally even you will recognise that I can’t be both ‘singular’ and ‘plural’. But maybe not. LOL.

    Then the intellectual confusion continues:

    they are looking

Back to the ‘plural’. LOL. But wait, another flash of brillance.

    assuming he’d

    Back to the singular.

    Then this piece of brilliance.

20,000 out of 58,000 is not an absolute majority

Dear oh dear. Who ever claimed it was? Not only a problem with basic grammar, but basic mathemeatics as well.

Think it’s time you stayed off the piss Wally

A “professor”. Talk about an over achiever. Luck to get a temporary tutor’s job in a AFE.

It is very amusing to see the SAME arguments starting to be trotted out by the Australian press as we have here. Since when is it even a logical stance to mention how long a “illegal” immigrant has broken law as having anything to do with “why” they should be allowed to stay? If it isn’t happening already these illegals will start having children as well and then they will be making arguments “about the children” and how cruel it would be to deport them now. “Australia is all they have ever known” they will say. First and foremost they are illegal, how long they manage to avoid the law is irrelevant. Either we are nations of laws or we are not…

I think more than anything it is this disrespect of the law on the part of the Illegal and his/her mouthpiece (the open borders crowd) that drives me crazy…It makes a mockery of everything and undermines all. I told you, cheap labor (Liberals) and easy votes (Labor)…..Old news here…

‘TAXPAYERS face a quadrupling of the cost of managing boat arrivals to almost $5 billion next year if warnings from the government’s independent panel eventuate.

‘The looming blowout comes as World Vision claimed 200,000 people could die because of Labor’s decision to divert hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign aid to cover asylum seeker blowouts at home. Each one of the 30,000 possible new arrivals next year, flagged by the Houston Panel this week, would cost Labor’s battered budget an estimated $165,000.

‘Based on last financial year’s $1.3 billion bill for specific offshore asylum seeker management for 8300 new arrivals, 30,000 arrivals could cost up to $4.9 billion.’
