Craig Thomson charged with 150 Counts of Fraud
January 31, 2013
Former Labor MP Craig Thomson has been arrested and charged with 150 counts of fraud following an investigation by Victorian State Police.
The Victorian police have spent almost 18 months investigating claims that Mr Thomson improperly used Health Services Union funds to spend on prostitutes, air travel, entertainment and cash withdrawals in excess of $100,000.
Thomson is expected to appear in Tuggerah court later today in order to apply for bail.
Mr Thomson has continued to maintain his innocence.
He is also facing civil proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia relating to allegations that he improperly used union funds for his own benefit.

Police release statement…
Who will think of Peter Wicks……poor bugger.
“……….It is expected he will go before Wyong Local Court where a further 149 fraud charges are to be laid.
It is anticipated that Victorian detectives will apply for the man’s extradition to Victoria………..”
Only 149 fraud charges………………………That’s way down on the what 181 or so originally thought.
This is rather trifling
Move along ………nothing to see here
Nice timing – Gillard announces the date of her political demise and now what will be a major issue of the campaign is highlighted as a great exemplar of Unionland values is arrested.
Maybe Gillard should have used her “Captain’s Pick” for Thomson’s seat instead of knifing a perfectly decent politician. The bloody reign of this ruthless power-crazed thug is littered with the corpses of decent people. Ask Harry Evans.
lol, out they come from the woodwork
I’d be convinced, but something about the Slipper saga leaves me wondering.
And questioning.
Like, why were the media tipped off … again?
Just to clarify, Thomson’s being charged with one fraud offence today and will be charged with a further 149 when he fronts court.
So Tom, how’s that whole “he doesn’t have a case to answer” refrain working out for you? (and the rest of the cafe crowd?)
So Tom, how’s that whole “he doesn’t have a case to answer” refrain working out for you?
Let’s be clear about the timing reb, back then, he didn’t. And, time will tell if he does. After the Slipper affair, I’m not jumping on any band wagons. The libs have shown that no gutter is too deep for them to wallow in
A spokeswoman for Victoria Police said: “The investigation is ongoing and we will not be providing a running commentary.”
Except to a few chosen journalists 😉

Still quoting wixxy…? LOL..!! 🙂
Still quoting wixxy…? LOL..!
You can’t tell me that, after utegate and ashbygate, you believe this completely?
Wonder what the bail conditions are for a suspected pathological liar and how long before the case comes up?
Silly me TomR. I should have known that Thommo is the epitome of everything good and virtuous in the Union movement and its subsidiary entity the ALP.
Craig has ‘NO CASE TO ANSWER’
Some people just don’t listen.
Arguments as to whether or not Craig Thompson has a case to answer to be heard in due course of due process at that place of relevant judgement run by those less judicious racketeers of court, I guess.
The Crims must be running riot in Melbourne at the moment with seemingly half the Victorian Police Force in Sydney
Gillard is not going to make it to September because the AWU Scandal is going to blow up big time.
Yet another team of Victorian Detectives are in Sydney doing interviews in relation to the AWU matter this week.
“Still quoting wixxy…? LOL..!”
Does TomR share an Office with Wixxy ?
office or orifice?
Seems to me this will just be a distraction for the not-too-bright embedded media, as will Ashby. Both sides of the duopoly now have a phurphy to feed the so-called Journalists when political questions get too hard.
So now we wait … well, those of us not in the lynch mob … juries work pretty well, from my experience …
Court hearing, if held, will be after, September, I understand … on with the election …
On with the election indeed. And we will have a slew of slugs and slime at various stages of investigation and prosecution to remind us of the despicable filth that is Unionland. Whether it is the powerbroker responsible for three NSW premiers at ICAC or the former president of the ALP or the impending arrest of a dumb lawyer who witnessed a power of attorney that the attorney says she didn’t witness.
Oh splatter, you splattered again, unionland filth is in much smaller quantities than bizland filth.
“This the day after election called? Odd timing eh?” – Peter Wicks as posted by his chief groupie TomR
His arrest is odd timing ?……………………………Not really
”I believe that from reading the warrant he was invited to travel to Victoria to surrender himself prior to Christmas, he didn’t do that,” Supt Dyson told reporters.

But I wonder who Thomson might have told immediately after receiving the “invitation” before Christmas ?
It should also be noted that Gillard today expressly denied being privy to any knowledge of the impending arrest.
But seriously who would believe this lying grub of a PM that we have
So it appears that Thomson was given the opportunity to surrender himself to police but refused.
Is that what his lawyer means when he says “Craig is cooperating with police?”
Following his arrest the Police would now have a nice clean set of freshly taken finger prints to compare to any prints found on credit card slips.
I’m sure there is someone in Victorian Forensics very excited at the moment
Witness the (largely) entirely predictable partisan responses above. Even
Andrew Boltsnacty has made a cameo.Wixxxy has tethered himself to this so strongly that he’ll still be squealing “Innocent!” & variations on “Conspiracy!” as Thomson’s leaden political carcass drags him to the bottom of the minority government ocean.
Oh, to have blind faith in compromised ideals & an inability to perceive the political objectively. 🙄
“………….unionland filth is in much smaller quantities than bizland filth.”
Please try and keep up 7:30
That’s the whole point………………….how would anyone know ?
‘Mr Thomson was formally charged with one count of misusing of a credit card to the value of $330. He did not enter a plea but was remanded to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on February 6.
‘The three bail conditions were: that he notify police within 24 hours of any change of address, that he give 24 hours notice of any travel overseas or interstate with the exception of travel to Canberra and that he not contact “directly or indirectly”, in person or through another party, any person whom he has allegedly engaged for sexual services.

I blame Lawler.
He ‘shares an office’ with Victoria Police. That is, both Lawler and the police have offices in Melbourne.
I blame the meeja, it shares the same country as Tony Arsehat.
It seems like a good time to talk about former Senator Mary Jo Fisher.
I blame all of youse…
Fuck me. Christopher Pyne is on 730 reportland, and the only thing I can think about is how he needs “a good cock up his arse.”
I guess he isn’t getting any.
sreb, I must remind you occasionally …
…that many posters here are HETEROSEXUAL! 😯
• Victoria Police = trolls
• DPP=in the pocket of News Ltd
• Why aren’t people talking about FWA VP Michael Lawler???
Sales says that off-air about Toolman after Canberra cross-overs.
Wixxy= unbiased crussader for truth
sreb, I must remind you occasionally …
… ToM, likes that sort of humour BTW … 😉
I blame that traitorous slut Kathy Jackson for making the first police complaint
Bitch………………….
LOL
And if anyone wants a refresher and good laugh have another look at the Laurie Oakes interview of Thomson last May.
Thomson has been declaring his innocence for 4 fucking years now.
Could someone please get Oprah to interview the Cnut ?
hey teabags, some elements of the embedded media aint given Mr-Rabbit that free-ride you all think he was going to get

Laura Tingle from the Financial Review, Mr Abbott. An election promise that’s a bit closer to home I’m hoping for. Will you give a commitment today to stop walking away from press conferences, especially the ones that you’ve called

‘His lawyer, Chris McArdle, was scathing about the arrest process as he defended his client’s innocence.
‘He criticised the way police had handled the arrest, complaining that journalists had received more warning than Mr Thomson.’

Thanks 730..
“Let’s be clear about the timing reb, back then, he didn’t. “
If he didn’t have a case to answer back then, why did Gillard dump him?
Gillard denies knowing that Thomson was to be arrested!
But police say he declined to voluntarily turn himself in before Christmas. Did he and Gillard think the police would just leave it at that?
Gillard has locked in 14 September to avoid the possibility of a by-election. I don’t think Gillard is even of nodding terms with transparency.
Did you know that former Senator Mary Jo Fisher (Liberal) was charged with shoplifting??!!!
People may talk about Craig Thomson all they wish, but some of us are interested in the fundamental display of dishonesty she represents!
If the first day of campaigning is anything to go by I look forward to

Very nice ToM.
“But police say he declined to voluntarily turn himself in before Christmas. ”
There were 2 requests prior to Christmas followed by a final request in early January I understand
There were 2 requests prior to Christmas …
Case of the devil if you do and devil if you don’t … if Thomson had surrendered voluntarily it would be seen by many, such as you, Wally, as admitting guilt (and would have been pounced on as such – just see above) … an arrest sends a signal that the police have suspicions and need to prove guilt … best of two bads …
Simple psychology really … McArdle’s suggestion, methinks …
‘if Thomson had surrendered voluntarily’ he would have avoided the media scrum outside his office.
Thomson should have thought about the party first and limited the damage.
One of Craig’s bail conditions is that he cannot contact prostitutes. That seems a bit excessive.
It does seem excessive, but I’m sure the authorities had a perfectly good reason for including it.
The stench from the industrial wing of the party will not quickly go away and could potentially bring about much needed reform.
Comedy gold from Barry O’Farrell..
“I think Mr Thomson and his lawyer need to calm down a bit – after all, the allegations surrounding Craig Thomson are that he was all too ready to take his clothes off in front of strangers in exchange for money.”

Yes Barry has a sense of humour
Now Thomson’s lawyer is threatening to sue him.
I get the impression that Thomson’s lawyer is a bit of a dickhead.
It’s a bit “look at me………..look at me” with him.
Thomson’s better off without him
I heard an interview with Thomson this afternoon ( no idea when it was recorded) which I’m trying to find a link for where he repeatedly dismisses the allegations against him with words to the effect of “ well if it is true then so what”. And he says it repeatedly.
I could not believe I was hearing it.
I’m trying to find a link to it. It’s sure to surface over the weekend though
tv-news says thomsom has been strip-searched
where`s reb gone ..
I’m on the tram..
Now Thomson’s lawyer is threatening to sue him.
And so would I! In fact I’d sue the arse off him …
D’ jya think the FIVE detectives were really necessary … do you think a strip search was necessary (for an ice cream?) … this could happen to you, Wally, you probably skive of far more than $150 … you might think he’s guilty but under our system of law (what’s left of it) afterthe Liberal Party has tainted it … Thomson is innocent …
If O’Farrell says that’s normal procedure in NSW, I hope you wife isn’t arrested for any allegeed misdemeanor … sometimes you need to step back and say – hey… this could happen to me … or mine …
Shit, sreb, you look like your on PUBIC transport!
REWRITE
If O’Farrell says that’s normal procedure in NSW, I hope your partner – or any of your family OR you – isn’t arrested for any alleged misdemeanor … sometimes you need to step back and say – hey… this could happen to me … or mine …
I’m on the tram..
Now I’m on a horse …
Bet you smell noice … 😉
I’m riding in a goatdrawn cart…
Six sturdy goats, all neutered…on account of my pathological hatred of
horsescraybait.Mate, I’m 200 pages from the end of Dances with Dragons … and thinking … WTF do I read NOW!
Loved the journey … our Blu Ray copy of series two is pre-ordered (March release) just hope they don’t do a Deadwood on the series!
The series (HBO) is only getting more popular (with the wider public), TB.
And, given the wealth of rich source material from the books, I can’t see it being cancelled anytime soon.
Season 3 starts in a month or so. Can’t wait for the Red Wedding & other abominations made flesh.
Have seen a few ‘making of’ clips. Ciaran Hinds looks great as Mance & the dude playing Tormund looks the part.
Looking forward to Theon as Reek!
Winter is coming!
TB
Due to his uncooperative ways he was taken into custody ultimately by Corrective Services Officers.
To guard against possible self harm and weapon/contraband smuggling he was strip searched as due process for everyone’s safety dictates.
Or are you now advocating that he should be treated “differently”. Seems you are pretty flexible when it comes to equal justice for all despite your usual protestations.
If he hung himself you would be on this blog immediately condemning NSW Corrective Services.
So Don’t give me bleeding heart crap about how humiliating it all is.
And don’t forget this is the first step in allowing Craig to clear himself of all guilt so I expect he is throwing a party tonight.
LOL
Ps
I’m still wondering where the criminal genius that incriminated him 150 times is hiding.
Talk about “overkill”
LOL
Subtle as always walrus…. 🙂
A pathological liar would be unconcerned by a strip search….it never happened.
Seems you are pretty flexible when it comes to equal justice for all despite your usual protestations …
Only in your eyes, sunshine, when it doesn’t suit your one-eyed vision of the world …
If he hung himself you would be on this blog immediately condemning NSW Corrective Services.
Somehow I don’t think it was carried out for his welfare … are you suggesting he had a rope hidden up his arse, or a razor blade 🙄 every day since Christmas – in case five police detectives came knocking at his door to arrest him …
May I also suggest you read the NSW Police’s own protocols – particularly Annexure A … and this time you ca n searh yourself … I’m tired of doing the leg work for you to refute your smart arsed, ill informed remarks …
“May I also suggest you read the NSW Police’s own protocols – particularly Annexure A … and this time you ca n searh yourself … I’m tired of doing the leg work for you to refute your smart arsed, ill informed remarks …”
LOL
Why would I bother searching for Links that are irrelevant when he was in the custody of the Department of Corrective Services which is under the Attorney Generals protocols. NOT THE POLICE
Even his lawyer didn’t challenge whether they were empowered to do so
Only the resident Qld Bush Lawyer could be as stupid to not see the difference
Your stupidity is easier to predict than the weather.
Craig Thomson has finally appeared in a Melbourne Court facing 154 fraud charges.
Thank God the fight to clear his name has finally begun I say.
His wife Zoe also accompanied him to Court this morning.
Writing in the Australian Women’s Weekly last year, Mrs Thomson said:
“A lot of people have made their minds up about my husband. They see him as a philanderer, a man who’s loose with his money and his morals. I don’t know that man.”
Exactly………You Go Girl………….any allegations that he used his OWN money for prostitutes will be proven wrong.
