Craig Thomson charged with 150 Counts of Fraud

January 31, 2013

186731-121024-craig-thomson

Former Labor MP Craig Thomson has been arrested and charged with 150 counts of fraud following an investigation by Victorian State Police.

The Victorian police have spent almost 18 months investigating claims that Mr Thomson improperly used Health Services Union funds to spend on prostitutes, air travel, entertainment and cash withdrawals in excess of $100,000.

Thomson is expected to appear in Tuggerah court later today in order to apply for bail.

Mr Thomson has continued to maintain his innocence.

He is also facing civil proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia relating to allegations that he improperly used union funds for his own benefit.

“……….It is expected he will go before Wyong Local Court where a further 149 fraud charges are to be laid.

It is anticipated that Victorian detectives will apply for the man’s extradition to Victoria………..”

Only 149 fraud charges………………………That’s way down on the what 181 or so originally thought.

    This is rather trifling

Move along ………nothing to see here

Nice timing – Gillard announces the date of her political demise and now what will be a major issue of the campaign is highlighted as a great exemplar of Unionland values is arrested.

Maybe Gillard should have used her “Captain’s Pick” for Thomson’s seat instead of knifing a perfectly decent politician. The bloody reign of this ruthless power-crazed thug is littered with the corpses of decent people. Ask Harry Evans.

I’d be convinced, but something about the Slipper saga leaves me wondering.

    And questioning.

Like, why were the media tipped off … again?

Just to clarify, Thomson’s being charged with one fraud offence today and will be charged with a further 149 when he fronts court.

His arrest is odd timing ?……………………………Not really

”I believe that from reading the warrant he was invited to travel to Victoria to surrender himself prior to Christmas, he didn’t do that,” Supt Dyson told reporters.

    Read more: http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/political-news/craig-thomson-arrested-by-fraud-squad-20130131-2dmnn.html#ixzz2JX39vuI4

But I wonder who Thomson might have told immediately after receiving the “invitation” before Christmas ?

It should also be noted that Gillard today expressly denied being privy to any knowledge of the impending arrest.

But seriously who would believe this lying grub of a PM that we have

  24. January 31, 2013 5:43 pm

‘Mr Thomson was formally charged with one count of misusing of a credit card to the value of $330. He did not enter a plea but was remanded to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on February 6.

‘The three bail conditions were: that he notify police within 24 hours of any change of address, that he give 24 hours notice of any travel overseas or interstate with the exception of travel to Canberra and that he not contact “directly or indirectly”, in person or through another party, any person whom he has allegedly engaged for sexual services.

But police say he declined to voluntarily turn himself in before Christmas. Did he and Gillard think the police would just leave it at that?

“He didn’t do that, or refused, and the end result was the issue of that warrant.”

But Mr Thomson’s lawyer, Chris McArdle, said the police version of events was “completely untrue”.

“The request for his client to travel to Victoria was to attend an interview, not surrender to police,” he said.

“If we had been given that invitation we would have done so and we wouldn’t have needed this reality TV show that’s going on.”

Case of the devil if you do and devil if you don’t … if Thomson had surrendered voluntarily it would be seen by many, such as you, Wally, as admitting guilt (and would have been pounced on as such – just see above) … an arrest sends a signal that the police have suspicions and need to prove guilt … best of two bads …

Thank God the fight to clear his name has finally begun I say.

His wife Zoe also accompanied him to Court this morning.

Writing in the Australian Women’s Weekly last year, Mrs Thomson said:

“A lot of people have made their minds up about my husband. They see him as a philanderer, a man who’s loose with his money and his morals. I don’t know that man.”

Exactly………You Go Girl………….any allegations that he used his OWN money for prostitutes will be proven wrong.
