Latest Essential Poll has Labor and LNP Neck and Neck!

July 23, 2013

Capture

The latest Essential Poll has Labor and LNP neck and neck with Labor ahead by a nose.  Interestingly enough of those polled, only 14% were concerned about the treatment of asylum seekers, with traditional stalwarts the economy, health and education being of key areas of concern for voters…

This is interesting, why on earth would 40% of people think that the Libs are better at managing interest rates when they’re at record lows under Labor…?

Meanwhile the latest Morgan poll shows a clear election victory for Labor…

ALP would win Federal Election. ALP 52.5% cf. L-NP 47.5%

Unsurprisingly, Bolt’s homing in on the one’s that suit his narrative.

  4. July 23, 2013 2:27 pm

I’m just glad some sense of balance has been restored, by all current appearances.

I’m not confident that the ALP can win at all.

It would be delicious to see Abbott lose (his shit) though.

    Not really.

A Rudd win would provide the best opportunity for ALP reform.

A loss would see Shorten or similar take the leadership, and a dead hand on internal reform.

I continue to think this government should be returned, and it’s a 51% chance.

  8. July 23, 2013 2:49 pm

You must be confusing your haters on other blogs, YomM. What with your support for a non-Abbott win & all.

If they ever had bothered to actually read & digest what you’ve been saying, for years, they’d realise that your position has been more consistent than theirs all along.

    * I think you may have confused some of the wingnuts here too. 😉

“If they ever had bothered to actually read & digest what you’ve been saying, for years, they’d realise that your position has been more consistent than theirs all along.”

    Exactly..

But me and ToM are Abbott lovers apparently, according to those morons.

My thoughts on the polls vary, but this political cartoon is a look at it from a different angle.

re interest rates..still some brainwashed people out there…
I’m now convinced that Rud can win the election as the Libs have nothing but abbott their own worst enema…. he is unelectable 🙂

‘A loss would see Shorten or similar take the leadership’

Losing by a small margin under Rudd is not the wipeout under jools, he saved the party and as a consequence will be hailed as leader.

    Shorten is yesterday’s man.

Well like I said Ugly Australia wanted a popularity contest and the y got it..trouble is Abbott is not popular…he is a fake. Bill Shorten is a good man but he ain’t rip and tear rock star ruddy. The fiberal machine idiots don’t realise the more they call him Kevin Kardashian (Hokey couldn’t get it right..its Kev then it works you moron) the more they will slide into oblivion…each day Abbott hides, ducks and weaves…. Kev gets stronger… The three word slogan thing is worn out..its point end now and the pamphlet and bullshit wont wash..Stop the Votes and Stop the gloats…. Tony where are you?????

Abbott is bluetooth cranial implant, straight to Menzies House…& Howard House.

    He doesn’t do public speaking.

He makes all but the most lustful adherents feel uneasy.

  21. July 23, 2013 6:38 pm

    Slightly off topic…

I wonder if they change the mattress when a new PM moves into the lodge…

Imagine having to sleep on the same mattress that Howard and Janette slept on, or Julia and Tim shagged on?

Or even using the same toilet…

I don’t think I’d cope with all that quite frankly… The whole place would need to be gutted and completely renovated if it was me.

HD – ”You must be confusing your haters on other blogs, YomM. What with your support for a non-Abbott win & all.

Yes. Stupid people are often confused, and that’s because they are stupid!

  24. July 23, 2013 7:28 pm

    Like rednecks?

    Now I’m confused.

“Not all stupid people are rednecks…but all rednecks are stupid people”? 😯

I think your haters aren’t that stupid (most of them, anyway). I think they have deliberately poor comprehensive reading skills. They approach your commentary with predetermined, rather than critical, opinions; at which point, it becomes easier for them to incorrectly pigeonhole than critically appraise.
    Lazy thinking at its worst.

they have deliberately poor comprehensive reading skills = stupid (?)

Some people are willfully ignorant and deliberately intolerant of rational discussion. To me, that means they are stupid, with intent.

  26. July 23, 2013 8:09 pm

“Some people are willfully ignorant and deliberately intolerant of rational discussion. To me, that means they are stupid, with intent.”

    Totally agree!

As demonstrated by the brain dead mobs at teh cafe and TPS…

  27. July 23, 2013 8:14 pm

    Not stupid, imo.

To me, it looks like they’re just hedging their bets that their interpretation is correct, 100% of the time.
Such an attitude is pure folly…& bound to lead to generous portions of humble pie. Unfortunately, ignoring when they’ve been miles off of the mark is also a trademark of theirs.

  28. July 23, 2013 8:16 pm

In other words, they misread you because it is you. They don’t bother to recognise what it is that you are saying. Their minds are made up as soon as they see your name.

Possibly, it is because it’s me. But I think that demonstrates wilful ignorance, and that is worse than simple ignorance.

Anyway, it really is hilarious that even a delusional, pretentious rock carrier gives them a run. It’s cringeworthy, but they deserve it.

If Rudd loses, I doubt whether he’ll stay on as leader, unless it’s a hung parliament.

Bowen would be the ideal replacement, he’d carry the reform zeal.

Ok so Newspoll and Essential now show 52 to 48 to LNP as a bad thing compared to 50:50 2 weeks ago

    That’s interesting

And then some desperate grasp for Roy Morgan which shows exactly the opposite result.

All on a weekend where Rudd had announced his big Solution to Boat People on Friday just in time for the pollsters to capture it .

But now the entire thing is unravelling.

Rudd does not find solutions for problems. He “addresses” problems meaning puts bandaids over them then Jumps to a new issue to address.

It’s the same C@@t the ALP got rid of 3 years ago.

  31. Tom of Melbourne permalink

The weaknesses of Rudd are well known. The electorate wanted him back despite the character assassination from Swan, Emerson etc.

And thus far the policy changes appear reasonable and balanced. They repair some of the damage of Gillard/Swan’s dishonesty.

The Liberals will face plenty of scrutiny and criticism on a range of policies-
*Spending reductions, difficult and unpopular unless it’s just a big reduction in public servants.
    *Carbon market vs abatement
    *Parental leave- modest or expensive
*Asylum seekers- and how Indonesia will react to emptying fuel from boats and towing them back

Then there will be comparisons between capability-
    *Rudd vs Abbott
    *Bowen vs Hockey
    *Carr vs Bishop

Where are the winning policies or personalities for the Libs?

    Tony’s taking to the media:

Actually it IS funny to see Abbott surrounded by his “supporters” which seems to be mostly made up of angry old people.

… their latest single, “I’ll Never Tell A Lie” has been a total flop for them in Queensland … the new Extended Play coming up is, “I Got No Money” and “Learning Don’t Come Cheap” … title of their new album is, “The Fools in Big White Houses” …
