The dregs of what’s left of the Labor Party are breathing a collective sigh of relief as their once hero – now arch nemesis – Kevin Rudd has announced that he is departing politics to “spend more time with his family.”
Kevin Rudd, one of Australia’s most popular Prime Ministers, shot to fame in the lead up to the 2007 Federal Election which he won in a landslide against sitting PM John Howard.
At that time, Mr Rudd reinvigorated the Australian Political Landscape with a positive vision for Australia based on education reform, healthcare, technology and innovation. He championed the cause for an inclusive and harmonious Australia, embodied in the apology to the stolen generations and more recently his support of marriage equality.

In its infinite wisdom, the electorate has returned to the politics of hate and division, aided by the Murdochcracy.And if the early signals are anything to go by, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Not so fast, Abbott wants to stay in power for a decade so he’ll need to cast his net more widely, be inclusive and not divisive like Jools et al.
Hard core leftoids have no respect for the electorate, thinking the mass is only concerned with base interests like the hip pocket nerve. History will record they chose wisely at the 2013 election.

Kev arrived eating his earwax and departed wiping bitter salty tears from his quivering face.
He built the house when the factions, despairing of ever winning, turned to the moon-faced midget for deliverance from the opposition benches. Not understanding that, having won government, he was now a creature of Bill Ludwig, the uncomprehending fool had to be knifed. In the long ALP tradition of great haters he then burned the house down, but could not put it back together again.
This is an era of politics where naked power is the ultimate goal. Principles are merely props paraded as part of the path to power rather than being end in themselves. This approach is symbolic of the age we live in. Truth is at best elusive and generally a very flexible concept. Society is more materialistic and more focused on cheap thrills and celebrity cults. Small wonder then that shallow egomaniacs garner great popular support. As the accumulated wisdom of the past is thrown under the careening bus of instant YOLO gratification, a society bedazzled by the good-time glitter of popular culture will soon enough be forced to learn again the lessons of history.

Maybe Rudd wants to follow in the footsteps of Doc Evatt – mental illness and delusions of granduer did not stop him becoming President of the UN General Assembly.

No he’s not, he wanted the ETS, which is enough to condemn him in the eyes of history. By comparison, our supreme leader is visionary and already getting accolades from the Canadian government for dropping our tax on a harmless trace gas.
If Rudd had won, he would have had a great opportunity to knock the ALP into shape and marginalise all the warlords and hacks. As it is, they again run it as their play thing.
