Why is Bill Shorten so Useless?

December 4, 2013

Image

***A SPECIAL GUTTER TRASH INVESTIGATIVE REPORT RESEARCH PROBE***

Why is Bill Shorten so excruciatingly useless?

He’s not just dull, he’s a crashing bore and completely ineffectual as Federal Opposition Leader.

To uncover the troof, the Gutter Trash Research Institute commissioned this special report.

A mere four months have passed since the Coalition won government and since then the Abbott government has left a trail of unmitigated disasters.

In a matter of weeks, Prime Minister Abbott and Minister for Schwarzkopf Julia Bishop managed to completely destroy the relationship Australia had, until that point, enjoyed with our important trading partner Indonesia.  A relationship which pundits are now saying could take 14 years to resurrect.

We’ve witnessed the heinous reality of “Operation Sovereign Borders” – a euphemistic smokescreen patriotic bile that has failed to stem the flow of boat people now also faltering thanks to Indonesia’s decision to no longer cooperate with the program.

Today, reports are emerging that the Abbott government plans to abandon the UNHCR asylum seeker conventions and obligations altogether.

In a week where the Abbott government capitulated on its outrageous plans to abandon the extensive Gonski Education Reforms all Bill Shorten could do was mutter something about parents and teachers being “disappointed” and something about a unity ticket.

The Abbott government now intends to wind back gambling reforms, a move that aims to please its largest donators.

But where’s the outrage from the Opposition?

I’ll tell you where it is.

Fucking nowhere.

Heck, even the Greens are doing a better job.

As @spacekiddete said on twitter this morning, “Bill Shorten can’t even feign interest, let alone outrage.”

Memo to Bill Shorten:

It’s time to start leading or fuck off.

I agree that Bill is the nowhere man, but with the coalition government kicking so many own goals lately, it is best to let the coalition to self destruct and to show they are not worthy of running the country.

  2. December 4, 2013 10:43 am

Yeah but the thing is Paul, the Murdochracy is hardly reporting any of these epic failures of the Abbott Govt so they get off very lightly indeed.

Shorten should be going for the jugular on these issues but he’s hardly anywhere to be seen..

And his crack about ‘carbon pollution’, at this late stage of the game, makes him look like a dill.

Bill Shorten is in the ALP (Australian Losers Party) and he knows that he will never be PM, which is itself a depressing prospect. He even looks like someone who si clinically depressed. But apart from the faux pas about education funding all of the issues that are cited here are residues from Labor’s term in office:
The allegations about spying on Indonesia refer to things done under Rudd, the problem with asylum seekers was created by Rudd trying to fix that which was not broken by scrapping the “pacific solution”.
We really should be entirely unsurprised that Shorten is utterly ineffective as an opposition leader, he has no great spark or charisma and he is certainly not the choice of the rank and file of the party. Nor does he have the sort of street smarts or cunning to be effective in the role. The latest stunt of getting up close and personal with the Greens to disallow TPVs is a classic example of political stupidity. The government have already found a workaround to stop any of those waiting for a determination not to be granted a PPV ( http://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/immigration-minister-scott-morrison-freezes-visas-for-refugees/story-fnii5s3x-1226774624590 ) that makes those boat people in the community materially worse off and on top of that it just keeps reminding the voters that Labor are just slaves to the Green open borders agenda.

If Bill does go for the jugular, the Murdoch press will spin it to say the abbot govt is doing the right thing, the ABC and fairfax need to start reporting more of abbots competencies, they are trying, just look at today, Cory Bernardi about the ABC

Cut ABC funding, urges Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi, as Coalition ramps up attack on the national broadcaster

To me this is the LNP trying to hide how bad they are and incompetent.

    Reporter* TB

I hear from, Abbott & The Acolytes’, long term group manager, John Rodent, that they are seriously considering a name-change to – Tony & The Tantrumettes – the leader of the group, Tones Abbott, says the new name needs to reflect more closely their recent perfomances … the this follows delays in the main studio with their latest album, The Ballad of the Battle for Carbon, and a need to better connect with their fans …

Meanwhile the Acolytes main rivals, Shorten & The Shitehawks, have had no impact at all laying the tracks for their latest album, What Should I Do?, with Bill Shorten losing his voice completely and many of the band just waiting to see what happens … rumour has it that instruments have been used in a number of ways but nohing is rhyming and the harmony is certainly not coming together … neither group seems to care what the fans say … and the Acolytes are simply arrogant and rude when it come to the big international producers …

Obviously you dont purchase the Age. Not surprised as few do these days.

I only last weekend cancelled my SMH on Saturdays. It’s now only good for its Weekend Business roundup and the Real Estate pages. Everything else is just anti this ,anti that amid the anti-Tory hypocritical shrieks of Mike Carlton and Peter Fitzsimons.

Besides the Gonski fuck up by Pyne (now corrected) there have been no “disasters” as such. The Boats are a trickle,………. so I fail to see how a trickle is somehow a disaster and the Indo problem has was caused by the ALP and then released by the Leftist Guardian. How is that “disaster” caused by the LNP.

Abbott has handled it calmly and professionally and for now things have gone quiet.
The Boats are still at a trickle we still export to Indo so business largely as usual.

Yep, 90% lower. Can you believe we are paying $1B more/year for asylum seekers than under Howard. It is an enormous cost to house record numbers of these people. Let us hope we can get back to taking people from UNHCR camps.

Can you imagine a Sudanese refugee trying to get into Australia under Labor. They have to make the trek from the Sudan to Indonesia, find a people smuggler and hand over $10,000 in hard currency.

It is a shame that our humanitarian places were sold to the highest bidder under Rudd/Gillard.

Among other things, the fledgling Liberal Party was staunchly anti-socialist and anti-communist,

“Menzies came to power the year the Communist Party of Australia had led a coal strike to improve pit miners working conditions. That same year: Joseph Stalin’s Soviet Union exploded its first atomic bomb; Mao Zedong led the Communist Party of China to power in China; and a year before the invasion of South Korea by Communist North Korea. Anti-communism was a key political issue of the 1950s and 1960s. Menzies was firmly anti-Communist and committed troops to the Korean War and attempted to ban the Communist Party of Australia in an unsuccessful referendum during the course of the war. The Labor Party split over concerns about the influence of the Communist Party over the Trade Union movement, leading to the foundation of the breakaway Democratic Labor Party(DLP) whose preferences supported the Liberal and Country Party.”

As it happens my conversion to voting for the LNP is fairly recent and I was before that a life long Labor voter. My late father was secretary of his local branch of the party in my youth and I grew up steeped in the “virtues” of the ALP. Typically you think that anyone who is critical of the ALP must by definition be either a blind follower of the Murdoch press and or totally ignorant of the machinations of the party, I am neither.
Like a lot of extremists you project your own ignorance upon your interlocutors because you are utterly incapable of accepting that a person of virtue could possibly have a different political persuasion to yourself.

Its just that you are so narrow minded when it comes to politics that you would be better suited to living in a totalitarian one party state like, hmm … say North Korea.

“disbursements”?? Why do CPA*s and other bean counters always talk dirty ….

  74. December 6, 2013 10:47 am

Normal people would just say photocopying.

‘As always, sreb, your call …’

Agree, its the editor’s call. If Inane (sic) goes he will take Paul with him, can we afford to lose this duo?

Craig Thomson had a way with disbursements.

“can we afford to lose this duo?”

Our popcorn sales would take a hit too…

I think ignoring is a better alternative to banning.

Until he crosses a line & behaves like the loathsome Walter Mitty here . Just my opinion…

That link to Inane’s life & times at encyclopaedia dramatica never gets old! 😆

look at his policies on illegal immigrants via the seas! this weasel party endorses such arrivals, face it, its a front for the Australian communist party (which includes the useless greens that don’t have any solid economic policies, aside from not burning anything – what a joke). Why should genuine people wanting to live in the country and following proper government process be disadvantaged by this scum? Under a labour administration at any level, expect corruption, union intervention & high pay for those in the serving party and friends. They don’t actually help the person living in a shelter or person struggling financially in a low paid job, its disgusting .

Shorten hey, short on height, short on brains, short on ‘leadership’, short on policy development and implementation, short on common sense, short on genuinely representing the Australian people, short on brains, short on etiquette (smashing a pie in the pie shop)
short on leadership – no leadership skills at all! Short on brains, short on seeing the future, short on planning and organising skills….. In other words A COMPLETE HOPELESS DAMNED CASE INDEED.

I don’t think so TB, Shorten remains the double dealing, duplicitous type that I recall from some dealings over a decade ago.

As MALfunction has demonstrated how shallow and simple a Prime Meddler he is … the Snowy v2.0 will end up just like the shambles the NBN is … TurnAbbott is weak excuse for a man who mwobbles about reacting to the simplest decision making … he’d be far better off swanning about on Cayman than Canberra …

he (or his missus) may be making a motza at our expense but ordinary Aussies are going backwards at an alarming rate …

Shorten and the ALP have policies for all Australians … not just the Elite who happily quaff a bottle of wine worth a days pay for most Aussies – without nary thought! Hey? 🙂

Negative gearing and CGT is a wonderful start … renewable energy in every state is another … improved health, education and training … a fair days pay … business actually paying some tax … lets look at the list again …

    ► Negative Gearing Welfare
    ► Trust Fund Welfare
► Super Tax Breaks for the Rich Welfare
► Multi-national Tax Dodge Welfare – Emphasising the PANAMA PAPERS
    ► Present Pollie’s Expenses & Perqs Welfare
    ► Post Pollie’s Expenses & Perqs Welfare
    ► Pollies International Travel Wastefulness
    ► Liberal Party Economic Incompetence
► Reduction or Stopping Private School Funding for Any Future Cases of Paedophilia
    ► Gay marriage plebiscite wastefulness
    ► $9.4 billion Lodge wastefulness

    Most still there … hey?

Remember the WA Election results … another two years of TurnAbbott and his Disparate Band of Thieves and Charlatans and the WA Election will look like a latte sipping soiree …

Enjoy while you and the MOB can … anyone that still uses Mr really has a got a cross around his neck, pips on his shoulders or a vibrator hidden somewhere … probably in his ear …

I knew any criticism of Shorten would see you launch a partisan defence.

You’re kidding yourself if you think you’re capable of being balanced.

Go on say something, you'll feel better...
