With thanks to Qantas (remember the manky airline that lost my suitcase) we bring you an exclusive preview of the highly anticipated but profoundly over-rated movie All is Lost starring Robert Redford…

ALL IS LOST

Robert Redford is alone on a boat.

THE END.

Two stars.

I though Robert Redford died with Paul Newman, when they got shot by some Mexicans after robbing some banks, back in the 1970s.

It’s nice to know that he’s not dead, apparently.

Watched Nebraska last night. Its a really interesting black and white look at middle America. Great performance by Bruce Dern who plays a old man who persists with a dream that takes him and his son back to his old town that has suffered from the tide of economic hardship and follows the mundane existence of its inhabitants. The movie has a slow pace but charming feel… 3.5

    PREDICTION
    Watch our teabags squeal.

Thus if you are providing an exemption or a concession on a tax, it will inherently favour more those whose incomes mean they would normally pay higher tax rates. Similarly, the exemption on capital gains tax on the family home, requires you first to own a home to be able to benefit from such an exemption. In such a case not only does the tax exemption favour the wealthier, it also favours those who were fortunate enough to buy a home when they were significantly more affordable than now.

    .

The Treasury each year lists the major revenue foregone from tax expenditures, but for the first time, this year it also included an account of the “revenue gain” which would occur were the concession or exemption removed.

”””””””””””””’The government is actually seeking to remove part of this concession. It intends to remove the low income super contribution scheme so the contributions of those earning under $37,000 will again be taxed at 15%.

This rather oddly will be a case of removing a tax expenditure which actually favours the least wealthy. Quite an achievement, really.

There are so many wrong assumptions in that quote here’s a basic outline why …

…. we’ve owned two homes since we were married …. took us three years to get the first – we paid it off in 11 years and sold it to build our present home 30 years ago … we paid variable interest rates between 7.5% and 13% … and we were required by law to have a 25% deposit …

We don’t have any tattoos, we have a $10 mobile phone plan and in 45 years I’ve owned 8 cars two of them new … we don’t believe in rent and both our adult choldren own their own homes because they too sacrificed and piad the bloody things off … why should we be taxed at all … personally I’ve been paying taxes since I was 14 1/2 …

And I can assure you being married and a father at 21 and the “nation” calls at 22 doesn’t help in buying a house for your family! I’ve told you before my income dropped from $280 (half wages and half singing spots in clubs) – to $80 a fortnight!

Leave our home alone! We worked for it … and I don’t fall into any teabag slot!

BTW, its certainly not for sale …

If you really want to attack a concession, don’t look any further than negative gearing … it is disasterous in so many ways for this country!

Then look at the Canadian concessions system for mortgagees to assist them with paying …

OWN YOUR OWN HOME ASAP … pretty hard for the pricks to touch you then … add some water tanks and a solar system and you become even more independent … they even have interest free loans now and the reduction in electricity bills pays the new system off!

Pure ideaology, teabag, and typical extreme RW action … keep the plebs controlled with mass enteratinemnt, fear and being poor and reliant …

””””””””””The study, conducted by the Young and Well Co-operative Research Centre, interviewed more than 1000 people identifying as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer, aged between 16 and 27, across Australia. About 64 per cent said they had been verbally abused, 18 per cent reported physical abuse and 32 per cent said they had experienced other types of homophobia and transphobia.

Ian Botham laments affair with Australian waitress that cost him ‘nearly everything’

Sir Ian Botham has told how an affair with an Australian waitress cost him ”nearly everything”… His affair with Kylie Verrells began when he was in Australia to commentate on the 1998 Ashes tour and she served him lunch in a Sydney restaurant.
According to Miss Verrells, Sir Ian flew her around the world and presented her with a diamond and sapphire ring.

I bet Botham isn’t as disappointed as Miss Verrells. If there is one thing that disappoints Our World Class Aussie (OI!) Waitresses, if is the lack of manliness among pasty faced former pommy cricketers.

Let this be a lesson to all Aussie Waitresses! Stick with the likes of Ian Chappell and Bill Lawry.
