EXPLOSIVE REPORT: “I AM NOT A METH ADDICT!” SAYS GRANT DENYER
The latest issue of Woman’s Day Magazine claims that popular Seven presenter Grant Denyer and his wife Cheryl have admitted to close friends they have been battling a $200,000-a-year addiction to methamphetamine.
Unable to cope with the stress of his prime-time TV roles, the former Sunrise weatherman checked into an exclusive Thai rehab facility, say insiders.
The troubled star confessed that his three-year meth habit was so severe it was costing him up to $4000 a week. “It was easy for them to get that sort of money,” says a friend of the pair.
“They always made sure they had enough of the drug, even travelling with it when they had to.”
It was just late last year when the couple, who married in early 2010, hit rock bottom, says another close source.
Moving out of the family home, TV producer Cheryl took their daughter Sailor to her parents’ house and begged for help.
The magazine said the pair attended a four-week program at The Cabin, a $14,000-a-month facility in Chang Mai, Thailand in November last year to treat their addiction.
However Grant Denyer has hit back at the explosive claims saying that they checked into into the rehab facility for “rest” and “recuperation.”
The Denyers admit that they did spend time at The Cabin, however strongly deny the magazine’s reports that it was for drug issues in a statement released to The Gutter Trash.
“Claims that the couple have a drug addiction and that Grant recently lost his Channel 7 contract are both false,” says the joint statement from Grant and Chezzi Denyer.
“They are currently taking legal advice on what action can be taken against the magazine.
“Grant and Chezzi Denyer are saddened by the highly defamatory article in this week’s Woman’s Day Magazine.
The couple have been under immense stress in recent months due to Grant dealing with chronic fatigue brought on by exhaustion and an ongoing unknown stomach illness.
Chezzi has also been dealing with PTSD and anxiety issues resulting from Grant’s condition.
The wellness centre they attended in Thailand specialises in the treatment of PTSD and exhaustion and they spent four weeks there to finally address these so-called “ongoing health concerns.”
The magazine claims they spoke to several of the couple’s close friends who insisted Denyer’s chronic health problems were not due to illness, but his “heavy reliance on crystal meth to get him through each day”.
They added that the 36-year-old reportedly started using small amounts of the drug to keep him alert as the early starts required on Sunrise left him tired, while Chezzi had previously used it to lose weight.
The mag also reports Denyer lost his $750,000 contract with Seven just days into his stay at the rehab facility — a claim he also denies.

If Woman’s Day is proven wrong it could be an expensive article and stress of it might force Grant onto drugs with the court case winnings …

So denyer got into speed to keep up with the stresses and demands of his job. Understandable, I bet there are many others doing the same. It’s a sad indictment on modern workplaces. At least he’s harmless to others, people like ray hadley spend their days abusing and bullying others at work and bashing the wife at home and they are stone cold sober. You’d need to be stoned out of your mind to put up with him [or even listen to his
radiorant show].If you just needed some rest and recuperation wouldn’t you just check into a nice five star resort?
Having been to Chiang Mai on a number of occasions, I can confirm that there are plenty of luxuriously appointed quiet spas and resorts that are just stunning.
The fact that they’ve checked into a drug rehab centre I think gives the whole thing away.

Actually, I used to watch Denyer when he was the host of Millionaire Dollar Minute (the show he just resigned from), and the first thing that struck me was that he didn’t look well at all.
Despite heavy makeup, his face looks gaunt, with his eyes sunk right back.. I wondered whether he might’ve been HIV positive or something, but the meth allegations make perfect sense now…

I would watch it as I sat zombie like on the lounge on my first day off after night duty [have to say I preferred the brit show ‘the chaser’] I thought “is this what he’s come to, a boring day time quiz show, that nobody except people like me watch!]
