From your roving TDT reporter … now in Bangkok … tomorrow in Singapore and with a case twice as heavy as a five weeks ago … Brisbane Monday …

Looking forward to cable b/b again …

  11. March 22, 2014 7:11 pm

Hi TB – have you gone or are your going to Asiatique iin Bangkok?

  12. March 22, 2014 7:23 pm

    I was totally wrong.

I thought it was our esteemed leader, TA, beaming in on the bright white light, with his arrival being announced by Bryan Ferry.

Oh well,,, wrong again,,,,,, but close,,,,,,,,,, don’t suppose I might win just 1 track from that folk music CD ???

G’day, Chief! No … and no time now … refused to o and see chanting monks two more fkn temples and another puppet show today!

Slept in, late brekky (hotel Sofitel! – I love French pastries!), took a stroll and got soaking wet, came back, got changed, took an UMBRELLA! And went ‘tother way …. mastered the just walk across the road techniques … had quick lunch at Maccas (I know) and then found all the street stalls had come back … madly spending our Baht – love bargaining … founjd a nice

Had a fab dinner at the hotel restaurant ($300 later) they were a bit embarrased when we asked for Mumm … but found a nice French alternative …

Just looking forward to getting home now …

Typing this with a tall, cold glass of Chang on my desk (from the 7 Eleven next door) 53B for a tall bottle … cheap as … wine is as expensive as!

BTW, Sreb, is the CD a new one or the original track C&W cellophane wrapped version we’ve all been trying for … for seven years?

  15. March 22, 2014 7:32 pm

Nice to hear you’re enjoying yourself TB.

I don’t have the original cello wrapped C&W CD anymore. I don’t know what happened to it. I figured a “folk music” CD would be just as “desirable…”

  16. March 22, 2014 7:46 pm

Glad yer enjoying ya`trip TB, l hope ya`hotel aint in the `political` area of Bangkok, sbs1 reckons some of the protests have started again, don`t get trapped among the thai-teabags.

I was completely wrong too, I thought it might have been the ageing profile of sir bob. I must admit I haven’t seen a pic of bryan ferry for about 25 years!

    enjoy the CD outlander 😉

Precisely Neil. Distance and other things like wealth and opportunity, rule of law etc.

As I pointed out asylum seeking is NOT a regional problem just because it suits Abbott to say so. It is our problem.

THe hotel advises to leave for the airport four hours before flight – just in case …

In Maccas … a guy sitting in front of us suddenly got up and left half of his meal … we thought he may have gone to the toilet (it is Maccas) but after a while the staff noticed his food and didn’t know what to do?

After about five minutes or more another guy sat down alongside the place that had been vacated … I then noticed a bag on the bench … asked The Minister if she’d noticed it before … neither of us were sure … so I went over apologised and asked if it was his bag – explaining why … he had brought it …

On the way out I apologised again and said “what a sad world that I had to ask such a question” … he grinned at me and “yes it is – but thank you” …

    Sreb and Tbag

We have thoroughly enjoyed the experience … but it is time to come home …
