Young Liberals Unleash Barrage of Racist, Homophobic and Misogynistic Rants!

Young Liberals at one of the country’s most elite universities have posted racist, crude and misogynist comments on social media, describing women as ”sluts”, Muslims as ”degenerates” and saying all feminists are ugly.

Only days after two Liberal candidates were forced to quit ahead of November’s state election over a series of derogatory posts on Facebook and Twitter, the party has been rocked again by offensive behaviour in its ranks.

In a series of screenshots of Facebook messages leaked to The Gutter Trash, the Melbourne University Liberal Club members attack feminist and alumni Germaine Greer, take aim at homosexuality, and repeatedly demean women.

Club treasurer Stefan Eracleous describes Ms Greer as a ”lying fucking cum guzzling slut … and a union member”.

”She doesn’t believe in God. No kids not married … what do you [e]xpect from a melb uni educated former socialist cunt,” he wrote.

He also refers to London as ”the gay capital of the world” and appears to hit out at Muslims, telling a friend: ”Just be careful of those mussrats. A lot of them are [a] bunch of Third World degenerate cunts.”

The club’s vice-president, Charlie Cartney, said in a Facebook message in January that a venue was ”definitely worth a visit” because it had a Mexican restaurant and an upstairs bar with ”lots of sluts”, saying in another post: ”Get some sluts for me.”

Other members of the group referred to former prime minister Julia Gillard as a ”twat” and said ”Tara Moss should only be on TV if she is in a bikini”.

The posts are another embarrassing blow for the Liberals – surfacing days after party chiefs warned MPs and candidates to act appropriately on social media – and have fuelled Labor’s claims of a broader cultural problem within Liberal ranks.

The Young Liberals and university Liberal clubs often are seen as a starting point for people interested in politics, with Melbourne University alumni including state treasurer Michael O’Brien, federal senator Scott Ryan and federal Higgins MP Kelly O’Dwyer.

The Melbourne University Liberal Club’s Facebook page also shows members campaigning for the state election with candidates and MPs, including Attorney-General Robert Clark and backbenchers Clem Newton-Brown and Neil Angus.

Club president Michael Sabljak said he was not aware of the comments until The Gutter Trash contacted him because they were not on an official Melbourne University Liberal forum, but denied the club had a homophobic, sexist or misogynistic culture.

Mr Eracleous refused to provide any comment despite being contacted by The Gutter Trash a number of times.

Mr Cartney said he was not prepared to provide a response without evidence. Despite being given the relevant material, he still had not commented.

The revelations follow the resignation of two Liberal candidates for the state election in recent days over offensive social media posts.

Bendigo West candidate Jack Lyons quit last week after it was revealed he wrote dozens of offensive Facebook posts, including racist comments about people from China and Africa.

Former Young Liberals president Aaron Lane, who had been endorsed as the party’s candidate for Western Region in the upper house, resigned the previous week after he was exposed for tweeting a barrage of crude comments which included the derogatory term ”faggot”.

Mr Lane, who has been a party member for more than a decade, also said, “The problem is (IMO) many homos make their sexuality a defining aspect of their being’’.

He also referred to former Labor leader Simon Crean and former speaker Peter Slipper as “a giant C’’.

Another tweet said “shirts are for faggots’’.

Mr Lane said he was not a homophobic person and regretted that his comments had been taken out of context.

    Stunning revelations, sreb!

    A real scoop …

… and I thought those Young Liberals were so well mannered, well educated at private Catholic schools and universities, all practising Christians and came from good, well heeled homes … and all with professional outlooks …

    How wrong can you be?

A topsy, turvy world … thank goodness none of them want to go into politics …

When I was at university, some decades ago, the young men who joined the Young Liberals were absolute dorks (some of the young women though were quite comely – they dressed nicely and shaved their legs)

Young Libs were the dorkiest of accounting and engineering students, they WANTED TO BE JUST LIKE DAD!!

…and that’s because “dad” was some sexist, racist, homophobic alcoholic.

Young Liberals have always been like that.

Young Liberals …. well educated at private Catholic schools and universities

TB, I really don’t know where you get all that from. They’re more from the independent and Anglican private schools.

Should they not make it to politics, perhaps some of them could apply for jobs as columnists at the SMH.

Si, as long as they all stay in Mexico who cares …

It just dawned on me why the Ed. in Chief would find this offensive … He also refers to London as ”the gay capital of the world”

It’s the gift that keeps on giving!!!

The Liberal Party has been hit by another social media controversy, with a young member forced to resign from his post at Swinburne University Liberal Club after posting homophobic and sexist comments on Facebook.

In a series of screenshots leaked to Fairfax Media, former Swinburne University Liberal Club vice-president Tim Dark attacks homosexuality and women’s grooming habits Most of the posts were made in October 2013.

In one Facebook post Mr Dark questions whether “butchy lesbians” are considered women.
In another, he writes: “Lesbians are misandrists and the homosexual like yourself could be considered a misogynistic. If you are into stereotyping.”

He also uses the derogatory term “faggot” and says homosexuality is a lifestyle choice.
“I hate women with hairy armpits as do the majority of males. I have no problems with lesbians per say just there (sic) lifestyle choice”, he says in another post.

In another post, he urged women to shave their armpits, saying unshaven underarms had nearly made him “puke”.

He uses the derogatory term “faggot” and said he was opposed to gay marriage.

“I like the current social fabric of Australia and see no logical reason as to why this should
    be ruined.”

He denied being a fascist, saying “if that was true then I would want all homosexuals dead.”

Speaking of SMH columnists, is John Birmingham “a foam-flecked Liberal flagellant (his brother a Liberal Senator) and infamous drug addict”?

(people in the northern states can ignore this)

I’m on fan of James Hird or Essendon, Hird deserves his suspension and he should be grateful that it wasn’t longer. Essendon has failed dismally in its clear duty to protect the interests and health of young people in its employment. Any parent must now seriously question whether it is such a great idea to have their teenage son drafted by a football club, particularly Essendon.

    However, I think-
    • ASADA has overstepped the mark by going after players
    • The previous government has emerged looking particularly grubby over their “blackest day in sport” press conference
    • The AFL looks incompetent and conniving

The ASADA process is designed for individual sportspeople, and team sports are different.
    • Elite athletes choose their own coach, dieticians etc. Teams don’t. Teams have the “fit in, or f**k off” culture. People in teams don’t take the same level of responsibility for their training and dietary/supplements program.
    • Each player received a written assurance that the supplements program was in accordance with ASADA requirements
    • What more could a young player reasonably have done in the situation?

I’d be entirely happy to punish Essendon some more, or suspend Hird again, but targeting players is misdirected in the circumstances.

How many children of prominent politicians have turned to drugs?

Harriet Wran: How she went from A-list darling to homeless and broke ice addict

A shocking story, which demonstrates that the scourge of drugs cuts through all socio economic groups.

I’m starting to be persuaded that some form of legal control is better than prohibition. Some way of taking the profit motive/dealers out to the system starts to look more rational.

‘I’m starting to be persuaded that some form of legal control is better than prohibition.’

Drug Law Reform is the way ahead.

Ice addicts should be hunted down and placed in a concentration camp in the Simpson Desert to dry out.

Go on say something, you'll feel better...
