    She had some good lines:

“And since we’re all adults here, let’s be brutally honest — most babies are not actually attractive. In fact, they’re weird and freakish-looking. A large percentage of them are squinty-eyed and bald and their faces are all mushed together, kind of like Renée Zellweger pushed up against a glass window.”

Never my favourite I’m afraid … but a star in her own right … found her more childish than funny …

She’d appreciate the honesty anyway … RIP JR …

Not among my favourite either Tb, but she was unique and had a healthy disdain for Hollywood and “the establishment” which I always found entertaining and refreshingly blunt.

Agree, with JR’s “healthy disdain”, mate … but as we do here … you’ve provided a platform for honesty and frankness … and I for one thank you for that … as I’m sure all the regulars here do …

I also confess that some of ’em drive me up the wall but … your philosophy holds true and I (as always) respect that …

    Fkn Jummy!

Why thank you TB, that’s very nice of you…. 🙂

Blunt, sarcastic honesty is far preferable to faux-politeness, expletive-censored, team-oriented, line-toeing, cheerleading, intellectually beholden crap from people who paint themselves into corners with their very own words.

At least one can detect whereupon one places thine clumsy feet…

    also…what my nigga TB said…

    * should go without saying, but positive acknowledgement is free & showing a bit of appreciation every now & again isn’t just polite, it’s warranted…

**5 weeks off soon…then wait for the horrible regular inputs I may incubate while I’m around from time to time. 😉

*** naturally averse to Cults of Personality (with respect to JR- plastic visages precede plastic people)…especially the kind cultivated by US papspreading Inc of the Entertainment Tonight ilk…

Real lives of real people are remarkably more interesting.

In the 1960’s her humour was groundbreaking.

Like many other comedians, it seems as tho she used humour as kind of coping mechanism to cover for deeper struggles…

    On her husband’s suicide:

“After Edgar killed himself, I went out to dinner with Melissa. I looked at the menu and said, ‘If Daddy were here to see these prices, he’d kill himself all over again.’ ”

  10. September 5, 2014 7:03 pm

I honestly knew fuck all about her until today.

From the snippets I’ve read, I do think her scorn was highly amusing. She chose her targets well, presumably.

Fuck, if that quote about the suicide is accurate, it is heavy.

  11. September 5, 2014 7:06 pm

Suicide is the true tragedy of the human condition.

I’ve always felt like it’s a copout which wounds those left behind (given that I think dead=dead, with no afterlife)…but, I can sympathise with people feeling that bottomed out; even if I’ve never been there myself.

My creed in that regard is…”project yourself forward a day/aweek/a month/a year/a decade…things cannot possibly be that terminal for every minute between then & now.

  12. September 5, 2014 8:10 pm

“I honestly knew fuck all about her until today.”

    She’s a fkn legend boss…

A whole new world awaits… I’d recommend starting here:

“Fuck, if that quote about the suicide is accurate, it is heavy.”

It sits within her style – nothing was ever off limits… Even her own life and circumstances…

On the news tonight I heard her say –

You don’t need big boobs to be feminine, just look at Liberace

  15. September 6, 2014 5:56 pm

I loved this woman’s irreverent humour and was morbidly sexually attracted to her gigantic brain,,, which for mine is the hottest attribute in a woman,

    Not really TB…

I’ve often found intelligent people to be a huge turn on.

Moreso than physical beauty in fact…

Joan Rivers didn’t talk about politics in her comedy routines, at all, because she knew it divided an audience.

She did hold strong views about certain things, though …

    Joan Rivers:

The whole Michael Jackson thing was my fault. I told him to date only 28-year-olds.

Who knew he would find 20 of them?

    LOL!

As for V … you are fkn spoilt, Jummy!

The whole Michael Jackson thing was my fault. I told him to date only 28-year-olds.

Just what was the MJ “thing”?

l found Rivers a bit painful, tho not exclusively, as l don`t like that/yank style of comedy, prefer any other nationality for comedy really. Rivers recently ran-off at the mouth about how israel should beat-up the palistinians more, which didn`t impress me either.
