Movie Review: The Giver
September 16, 2014
Set in the not too distant future, Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community.
The movie also stars Meryl Streep who constantly apologises whenever she appears, no doubt regretting ever agreeing to star in this mind-numbingly predictable, bland and uninspiring piece of cinema in the first place.
This movie is shit.

weird and shit reb, thanks for checking it out for us!
in other news today guess what? Govt is caving to community demand.
I support the concept of erasing the past, my wardrobe is full of skeletons. Having seen the trailer it seems to be aimed at the under 16 demographic, so I’ll skip.
The movie also stars Meryl Streep
BOING!
“An aylien took moi baybee!”
She is fkn hopeless …
BTW, sreb, long review for a shit film!
Just sprayin’ … 😉
I support the concept of erasing the past …

BE ALERT!
The world needs more Lerts!
…understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community.
Speaking of which, it’s interesting to note that while Bill Shorten was secretary of the AWU, they did a deal with an employer to reduce labour costs in return for $4000 a month payment to a union slush fund.
I’m sure it’s all ethical though.
Only ToM could turn a movie review into an opportunity to bash unions… 😯
Imagine Bill Shorten……………………………………Movie Star ?
I don’t think it’s ‘bashing unions’… it’s more enlivening the discussion.
Does this movie offer some insight perhaps into how a person can go from being at one time a union official (perhaps when they were “young and naive”) to being a consultant to “significant” companies and a real Union Hater to boot?
Just because it’s shit doesn’t mean it can’t offer life lessons for us all 😉
That’s quite funny.
But I don’t ‘hate’ unions, some do a great job.
Construction industry unions don’t fall into this category, and most construction unions take their poisonous standards with them into their manufacturing and mining coverage.
There are a range of unions, and many officials that are transparent and ethical, but ALP affiliation isn’t helping their cause.
But who would play Meryl Streep? Jacqui Lambie…??
But who would play Meryl Streep?
Margaret Pomeroy?
About time she stopped shinin’ her arse and did something “productive” …
I see ToM’s rewriting his song sheet … we may get a four part harmony eventually …
