Govt backs down on attack on unemployed
The Federal Government has abandoned its plans to make it compulsory for unemployed people to apply for 40 jobs a month in order to keep receiving the dole.
The plan was unveiled in July as part of the Government’s multi-billion dollar jobs placement program and expanded “work-for-the-dole” scheme.
However the plan was slammed by business and welfare groups who warned that jobseekers would be compelled to apply for jobs they are not qualified for and that businesses would simply be inundated with irrelevant job applications.
One ambitious programmer developed an app that would send 40 job applications to employers at the click of a mouse.
Employment Minister Eric Abetz acknowledged that there would be opposition to the plan, and that 40 was an ambitious figure.
“We have listened to the community feedback, we do understand that for business this would be a burden,” he told The Gutter Trash.
“These [so-called] people, will no longer be required to apply for 40 jobs,” he said.
The policy U-turn came as the government opened tenders for businesses to provide employment services, including coordinators for work for the dole, from next year until 2020.
The government is also backing away from a proposal to more strictly enforce requirements of jobseekers on the dole which could see them stripped of income support for missing one appointment.
40 job applications a month was stupid. There’d be a queue in front of every reception desk will dole bludgers dropped off their cv.
‘I’m off to get milk, I’ll drop my cv off at the chemist, and haberdashery while I’m out.’
Here’s a few more stupid economic policies that should be jettisoned-
* Deregulation of university fees
* HECS
* Small doctors co-payment… it should be bigger for those in work

“a war cry especially of a Scottish clan”
Hoots och aye!
Shows how out of date I am…
I remember when “misogyny” meant actual hatred or loathing of women, and “terrorist” meant people who deliberately slaughtered/murdered/maimed innocent and uninvolved people in order to highlight or advance a political cause.
I used to like the precision of language, now lots of words seem to have devalued. English language – our very own version of a peso.
Dont want to offend my Scottish friends….

“his delivery is the terror of even world-class batsmen”
So cricket bowlers are “terrorists” these days!!?? I’m even more confused about language now.
I’m even more confused about language now.
What do you mean “now”? 😉
Coalition insiders say proposal to make jobseekers under 30 wait six months before getting dole to be scrapped
I wondered when that was coming … now we need the Opposition to stick to its guns re the Age Pension changes (although the first change to the A/C based pensions comes in to force on 1/1/15)
And what about this little gem snuck in by Noddy & the Nitwits:
Competition … yeah! Downward pressure … guffaw! Improves consumer protection … gurgle! REMOVES RETAIL PRICE REGULATION! Ahggggggggggggggg!!
As if … what fkn bubble do these Dicks live in???
““terrorist” meant people who deliberately slaughtered/murdered/maimed innocent and uninvolved people in order to highlight or advance a political cause.”
Hate to break it to you, YomM, but that term got bastardised into a ubiquitous catch all phrase for every ‘official’ enemy of any & every government (from semi-legit to tyrannical crackpot) on Earth to use to manufacture consent for aggression against their bugbears on about September Eleven Two Thousand and One.
Now, it should be treated cynically whenever it is used, because it is used cheaply & opportunistically so often.
Pretty sure I predicted this on these forums at least 8 years ago. Not very hard to recognise the eventualities. Fear squirters tend to be highly susceptible to empty use of the word.
“Competition … yeah! Downward pressure … guffaw! Improves consumer protection … gurgle! REMOVES RETAIL PRICE REGULATION! Ahggggggggggggggg!!”
Welcome to the South Australian Electricity ‘Market’ Mk 2!
You lucky Queensland filth(s).
Hey! Hey! Toillette!
Isn’t “boxtrolls” breaching intellectual property of an avian kind?
I’ve just been trying to buy a Region 4 BD version of GoT So4 … still unavailable … and they wonder why we download!
Aren’t monopolies of any kind illegal in this country … and our erstwhile and ever “generous”, military allies have a FTA with us little folk …
I mean I don’t give a FF but it bothers Wally … where is the blubbergusto anyway? Not on holiday in the ME I hope …
WTF u meen Queensland fylth … I is kleen, man!
Homey!
“… and they wonder why we download! ”
They don’t wonder at all…they’re just monopolist cunts who think they have the whip hand (and can’t comprehend the tech) who are implementing the Australia tax.
Luckily, ASIO just got permission to fuck everyone over through the side entrance because of ridiculous fearsquirting and its consequences.
Protect the Australian people my arse. It’s cover for protect ‘powerful interests’.
They still won’t stop piracy without resorting to Putinesque oppression though. More fool them.
This made me laugh. Do they really expect us to believe this (actually, they probably do, and many probably will 😦 )
A spokesman for Senator Abetz said dropping the plan showed the government was forming policy in consultation with the community instead of “on the run” like the former Labor government.

Considering how many months ago the budget was it can hardly be called “compromising”. It is a backflip with double twist. But like it will ever be portrayed that way.
This was also an astute observation imo
“We have listened to the community feedback, we do understand that for business this would be a burden,” Abetz told the ABC’s AM program.
Sensitivity not being the government’s strongest quality, it appears that the “community feedback” it has listened to is from businesses worried about an avalanche of frivolous job applications, rather than job seekers or the welfare sector.

So their “community” is business. TB will appreciate that piece of irony I reckon 😉
OK, then cricketers and politicians are “terrorists” these days, that’s the evolution of language (apparently)
What do we call those people previously known as “terrorists” (the ones who actually slaughter, murder and main?
o Terrorists++
o Supersized terrorists
o Terrorists with the lot
??
“Considering how many months ago the budget was it can hardly be called “compromising”. It is a backflip with double twist. But like it will ever be portrayed that way.”
They are trying to fix the mess the ALP and its supporters created. How about Mr ALP supporter not trashing the budget every single time you retards get into power?
Oh that is right. Swanny was about to get the budget back into surplus just before he was thrown out.
That’s right Fucktard by spending 500 million dollars on a war… with a bullshit pretext ?
Emergency you say?
Crawl back under your rock you tiresome boring repetitive belligerent troll…
See it not hard for Abbott to recruit gullible imbeciles.. 🙄
Watch this and learn dip ship.. your stupidity scares me
They are trying to fix the mess the ALP and its supporters created.
There is no “mess” nil, not yet, anyway.
that’s the evolution of language (apparently)
Hate to break it to ya yomm, but language has been evolving from well before your time, and will continue to do so until well after it. It is not (unfortunately) fixed in place at the time you decided to learn it.
Mind you, it gives you something to do whilst catching your breathe between sets 😉
Let’s hope the gubmint is up for another back flip (oops, “consultation”)
An extra 500,000 people a year would choke NSW emergency departments at a cost of $80 million if the federal government proceeds with its GP co-payment, internal health department documents show.
The analysis by NSW Health has been backed by doctors and health groups who say a $7 Medicare fee for GP visits would be a disaster for the state’s health system, blowing out emergency department waiting times and hurting society’s sickest and poorest.

Labor do need to keep the pressure on with these, as these are not “brainfarts” that were raised and floated, they were seriously and aggressively attempted to be put through, and only because even other right wingers such as pup etal saw just how unfair they are did they get stopped.
The voters need to be reminded that these are the libs preferred path. Hit the least well off. Hard.
An example perhaps of the “devolution” of the word “Tewwa!”
As one man was charged with conspiring to behead a random person in Sydney’s CBD, police removed a sword in an evidence bag from a Marsfield home.
But the owner of the menacing item has revealed that it is actually a plastic decoration common in almost every Shiite Muslim household.

200 cops. What a show of farce.
And whats the bet the AFP can’t spare any man power for this, even though they have a spare 200 souls for a plastic sword.
The Australian Federal Police has been asked to investigate Immigration Minister Scott Morrison and his staff for leaking details of a confidential internal security report from Nauru to a journalist.
It was reported in News Corp publications on Friday that internal Transfield security documents from the offshore processing centre in Nauru revealed that it was “probable” that Save the Children staff were encouraging asylum seekers to self harm.
Fairfax Media understands that select paragraphs from the confidential report were provided to the journalist.

Speaking of which, I wonder if they have found any time to have another look at the ashby matter? Probably not. Arresting owners of tasers wearing Gucci hats is a time consuming business, no time left to bother looking into a possible conspiracy to bring down a Government is there?
If Queensland Isn’t Chock Full Of Stupid People, How Do You Explain Campbell Newman?
https://newmatilda.com/2014/10/08/if-queensland-isn%E2%80%99t-chock-full-stupid-people-how-do-you-explain-campbell-newman
Of course, in deference to TB and his neighbours, that could easily be re-phrased as “If Australia Isn’t Chock Full Of Stupid People, How Do You Explain tony abbott?”
Cue nil 😉
””””’If Australia Isn’t Chock Full Of Stupid People, How Do You Explain tony abbott?””””
#ditto tomR, we successfully earned the `crown` and toppled teh-usa in the stupid stakes, but that is history now and 3-years of stupid will be administered to us. Look to to the future tomR, Watch us try and retain the `crown`.

#l`m not at all surprised about the back-flip on the 40-jobs,

#there was a looming flood of job-applicant junk-mail heading business`s way, my `locals` have united to gather job-adverts they have no hope in hell of getting as an `email-group` or something, so they could meet the `40-job` bullshit,
to me, it looks like the teabags downward envy has back-fired big-time, frightening and forcing `true` job-seekers into hardened `loop-jumpers`. #dumbfcuks
Returning home this arvo, and spoke to neighbor that has just signed some kind of `job-search` contract as part of dole-office requirements,
neighbor reckons they have back-peddled even further, and reckons he only has to `collect` 10-jobs a fortnight, nowhere near the 40-jobs,
neighbor also said in this recent round of busy-work bullshit the dole-office make`em do, got the folks `interviewing` admit the vast bulk of the jobs will never provide an unassisted living/buy a house,
both `centalink` and `outside-job-contractor` admitted the jobs are short term crap
