Death Cult Blamed for Chocolate Jihad Mayhem!
The absence of any tangible facts or credible information hasn’t prevented The Daily Telegraph from insinuating that the so-called ISIS DEATH CULT is behind the hostage siege situation currently unfolding in Martin Place, Sydney.
While more level-headed minds await categorical facts before jumping to conclusions, The Daily Telegraph didn’t let the opportunity to ramp up fear and hysteria in the community and scaremongering of Muslims to one hundred and eleventy.
Meanwhile, shock jock Ray Hadley claims he has spoken directly to one of the victims taken hostage in the Lindt chocolate shop.
Hadley said on 2GB that the male hostage was “remarkably calm” while relaying information from the gunman over the phone.
The gunman wanted the hostage to speak live on radio, a demand that Hadley said he refused.
“I wouldn’t allow that to happen,” Hadley told his listeners.
Hadley claimed the gunman was talking about “other operatives being involved” however Federal Police are yet to verify Hadley’s claims.
A number of hostages were forced to hold an Islamic flag against the shop window shortly after the siege began at 9.45am.
I’m sure there is nothing to be concerned about.
The best course of action is to mock those who think Islamic “tewawism” could possibly happen here. It’s all just a huge beat-up by the right-wing-fascist Abbott government, aided and abetted by the MURDOCH(!) “newspapers”, all aimed at ‘manufacturing consent’ from the frightened and compliant sheeple.
So more guns on the streets = less chance of being killed?
“…Anywhere between a dozen and 50 hostages, and not a gun between them. How do you think this guy would fare in, say, Texas?…”
He would have walked in and started blasting away with his semi automatic. Most dead in the first minutes.
(Death by chocolate! Or something.)
So “if” this is a genuine tewawist threat, is it any real surprise given Abbott’s eagerness to join in the
warmongeringhumanitarian effort in the Middle East?Dunno, there are two sides to every story.
NO …
IS is a ME problem … if “Australians” want to go and join them – let them but they stay there – one way or another …
… “if” this is a genuine tewawist threat, …
Yes, this does seem odd … (meaning more like a hostage situation rather than a terrorist)

You may not have followed today on the TV … I’ve been listening … one of the things that has been constantly said is that the police have been training for this since 2001 … and that the Feds (ASIO and AFP) don’t have this person on their radar …
… aided and abetted by the MURDOCH(!) “newspapers”, all aimed at ‘manufacturing consent’ from the frightened and compliant sheeple.
Well ya got that bit right …
Shall I start building my bomb shelter?
We’re even getting dramatic reports on the dramatic reports that are happening overseas about the dramatic reports of the dramatic events back in Australia.
aided and abetted by the MURDOCH(!) “newspapers”
I don’t suppose you want to comment on the graphic associated with this blog post then?
Hadleys been acting like a wanker all day reb. I recently heard him claim there was no way he would televise a conversation with someone inside. Well, tell them to clean up their twitter account
“”I don’t suppose you want to comment on the graphic associated with this blog post then?””
Nah, much easier to be a #sidelinesniper
Nah, much easier to be a #sidelinesniper
You say that like it’s a bad thing.
Having participated in that form of snipery myself, I have to say, it has much to offer.
In the same way that “Ding Dong Dash” does for my kids 😉
I might add that I thought Abbott’s response was appropriately measured.
He didn’t threaten to shirtfront the hostage taker which was surprisingly refreshing.
I might add that I thought Abbott’s response was appropriately measured.
Yes, I must admit, it was quite good
Does this mean that we have already infiltrated and our peerless leader successfully replaced with a T-800 ya-Bot?
“I don’t suppose you want to comment on the graphic associated with this blog post then?”
The Telly is taking editorial instructions from Peta Credlin. Obviously.
Obviously.
Or vice versa. But the end result is the same
BE TERRIFIED of tewwa!
Kind of funny that the papers nickname is the daily terror 😉
That’s right! It’s just one (armed) guy in a coffee shop.
I’m sure the hostages are comforted by that.
Well it’s not quite 3500 people is it ….?
For quite some time in the heat of the moment I thought it was a one armed man and thought how hard could it be to over power him.
“Well it’s not quite 3500 people is it ….?”
That is true, it’s not 9/11.
But I was struck by the look of terror on that young woman’s face as she was forced to press against the window. She’ll never be the same.
How they gonna pin this on Tim Anderson?
#I’llridewiththehostages
I can’t believe the twitter “victims” in this are Muslims in religous garb facing potential “racism” on their way to work tomorrow.
The victims are the hostages and their families!

lt is merely a double coincidence that Teabags engaging in dog-club-racially charged free-hate-speech and cronulla riot and sydney seige. Both of which, would not register on the global soccer-riot scale. The Teabags were doing much better throwing babies overboard.

Awesome
(I think it’s the novelty, Ricky. Sieges and hostage-taking in the ‘burbs are regular enough occurrences, several in the past few weeks; but a CBD siege tends to happen only once or twice a year; which probably explains the keen (commercial) media interest, and possibly the confliction surrounding meaning-giving to #itsafreecountry. Still, as is said, “[w]e have a lot more questions than answers and we must be patient and allow hard facts to emerge before we jump to any conclusions”; particulalrly as some of the (un)available (in)direct information reportedly is being actively suppressed for tactical-operational and/or public safety reasons.)
(Another peaceful ending, like every other of its ilk, lately: Sydney siege: Two hostages and gunman dead after heavily armed police storm Lindt cafe in Martin Place. Nevertheless, it’s undoubtedly a public good that the modern face of Islamic “tewwawism”, and the threat which it posed, has been eradicated by the boys in black in the blackout.)

A terrible outcome to a siege by a common criminal. Let’s hope we can now put some perspective into the mourning of the families who have lost loved ones and those who survived but will be scarred for life.
Our media will today be hanging their heads in collective shame. More a hope than a premonition.
But well done to the police in a very tense situation. Was it the right call? We’ll never know. But they all should be commended, not just for handling the madmen, but the media mongrels ramping up their pathetic little market share at the expense of decency.
wow, hartcher with a moment of lucidity
When I chanced to walk through Martin Place a little after 11am on Monday, I saw the police clustered closely around the Lindt Cafe. I saw the police cordon as I stood among some hundreds of onlookers.
The police evidently had the situation in hand. The crowd was curious, but might as well have been watching a busker for all the tension in the air. Some onlookers snapped photos. Some left as others arrived. The scene was perfectly calm.
It was only when I turned on the TV an hour or so later that I realised the magnitude of our dimwittedness. We were supposed to be terrified.

There is a despicable character in Australia claiming to be a Sheikh, and engaging in disgusting behavior. He sent a letter to the parents of Private Luke Worsely in which he claimed to be an Islamic leader, “Sheikh Haron”, taunting them on the day they buried their son.

He was on murder charges and had convictions for sexual assault, how the f**k was he allowed bail?
That is the real scandal.

Nothing to see here. Just another mentally ill loner. Muslim cleric. Supporter of IS. Who has 14,000 likes on his Facebook page.
Don’t worry about dead Australians. It is the poor frightened Muslims that you should feel sorry for.
All the stupid little people concerned about tewwawism need to harden the fuck up. As do the hostages.
Will the daily terror take out the inaugural da’ish propaganda award this year?
It’s anyone’s guess
“Just another mentally ill loner … Who has 14,000 likes on his Facebook page.”

Funnily enough his lawyer said:
“Got a link for that?”
Got the facts straight now or are you just going to keep up with your apologia?
Every slithering idiot who spouts the “self styled” meme is showing their disdain for the facts and their unctuous desire to toe the PC line. Wipe your semen from your eyes and start looking at the facts.
“All from mentally ill people.”
Yikes! 14,000 mentally ill tewwawist supporters. I wonder what they have in common?

Considering those in the Islamic community are unable to confirm if he was one, after looking into it for years, it’s a pretty bold statement from a lawyer
“Splatter seeing you are in possession of all the facts”
I didn’t say that. My beef is with those who immediately and before all facts are in jump on board the predictable PC response to all terror attacks – “this has nothing to do with Islam” and “the real victims are the Muslims”.
What I am criticising is the idiots who ignored facts and spouted the “self-proclaimed” meme and generally followed the PC line.
Obviously you are more interested in jumping on the bandwagon than sifting through the facts as they emerge to reach an informed view.
(The deadened madman definitely seems/seemed like an attention-seeking nutter with a loose grip on reality fueled by and fueling a tragically-all-too-common-and-all-too-often-spread wacky, way-way-out-there, ideological message, by brief skim of the linked SMH piece, el g; little wonder then, I guess, that everyone and anyone of any official importance is running ‘Our Values’ up the half-pole, today, as a strong counteragent to the pernicious, politically-motivated, battle-for-hearts-and-minds-corrupting brush(ed)-with-terrorism propaganda.)
Durham is over-simplfying. There are a number of matters she seems ignorant of. First, the dead dog was a refugee from Iran – perhaps he is not mainstream shia in his views. Also Iran often helps sunni groups. After 9/11 it sheltered al Qaeda operatives and it gives military support to sunni terrorist group Hamas. And then there is the fact that the dead dog called for an ISIS flag. seems a littel more complicated than Durham’s simplistic sloganeering.

On a train, one passenger reportedly spotted a Muslim woman removing her hijab, ostensibly out of fear of being targeted. The passenger told her to put it back on and offered to walk with her in solidarity. And so began #IllRideWithYou. yes, l noticed the language too, the national zombie couldn`t help himself and shove `death-cult` and `terrorist` into his press-pack address, which teabag-media didn`t challenge him on, even tho earlier, teabag-media `had` reported he was not in any group, had been tortured in iran, and was mentally ill/unstable, and the situation `was` looking by available sources, that it was `criminal` not `terror`
no wonder nsw-plod won`t say anything until investigation confirms it, and who can blame`em

I too, cringed when I heard this, but took some heart in the fact that this tact hasn’t worked until now and in fact the Aus public see through it for what it is…
The reality is that this is all Tones has got…
Their record on running the economy is shot.
And we’ve heard this all before about tewwowism…
Abbott is finished, and no amount of teary-eyed feigned patriotism and pledges to “keep Australia safe” will save this odious creep.
yes, l noticed the language too,
It was depressing seeing it on tele when I got home from work. They spent minutes at a time showing montages of the non-isil flag from a dozen different perspective, with foreboding music accompanying it, and a huge banner under with the words “Sydney Siege”. Later in hte evening, when the tele went back on, the same image montage was being played, with the same music, but now the banner read “Sydney Terror Siege”
It was like they’d convinced even themselves that daesh had come to town.
When I saw the images of ppl leaving flowers at Martin Place I couldn’t help but thinking wouldn’t a better use of their money been spent on a fund for the dependents of the two ppl who died?
They look like young adults and probably have dependents.
There’s about fifty grand’s worth of flowers (if not more) sitting there that’ll just be chucked out in a couple of days..

The more information released about the aggressor, the more a picture of an isolated, unrepresentative fringe nutcase emerges.
One man ‘nothing-to-lose’ perpetually aggrieved zealots are gonna be practically impossible to prevent.

I know what you mean about the flowers, reb. Neither the victims nor their families can benefit in any material way from such tributes. Perhaps the families can take some solace in the fact that the community seems sympathetic.
On the other hand, I can’t help thinking this is just as much about the feelings of the donor, perhaps relieving some innate feeling of guilt. For some, it’s probably nothing more than a public display of virtue.
A bit like #illridewithyou.

I’d say you’re /amateurpsychology is well founded.
One wonders what would have gotten all the coverage if a prominent sportsman had been killed in play, concurrently.

He was a #knownwolf, ok, semantics granted.
And all of our wonderful new laws & all of our panic couldn’t prevent it.

And he was ‘lone’, as near as I can tell. He wasn’t even loosely affiliated with IS, just trading off their brand because he heard their dogwhistle I’d suggest.

“Or maybe they feel genuinely affected and this is the one way they can how to express how they feel?”
That’s another possibility. It could be a mixture of all of the above.
Hell, what do I know?

Heehee.
You know who this ratbag reminds me of – the Australian guy who murdered his on son at the cricket match recently.
He’s about the same age and has the same sense of self importance and indignant outrage about him..
#lonewolf verses #knownwolf
Nah, l don`t think he was any type of `wolf`, he was definitely `known` by nsw-plod and teabag-media as an attention-seeker, and `harmless-crank` with criminal behavior, and they got the `harmless` part a little bit wrong.
“the Australian guy who murdered his on son at the cricket match recently”
Yeah, he had a fucked-up personal life. But did he follow an implacable ideology?
just trading off their brand because he heard their dogwhistle I’d suggest.
mission accomplished?
Dunno.. But the personalities look similar (just going by what we see on the televisions)..
Back to the flowers thing. Upon further reflection, some people attended a church service, held in memory of the victims. They were probably trying to come to terms with what had happened, just like the flower donors.
#whoamitojudge
“I don’t think we need any new laws, just a more judicious application of the existing ones. What the fuck was he doing on bail?”
Absolutely…if by that you mean ‘no new laws since prior to the recent ramming through of anti-tewwa legislation which encompasses overreach by government (aided by a forward thinking, opportunist [and in this case supplicant] Opposition) never seen here before, with unseen implications & nary a fuck given for individual privacy of non-wrongdoers(which would be nearly all of the population, surely?) ?
The muslim version of “hell” must be a really busy place right now …
Generally speaking, I favour fewer laws, not more. Smaller government, not bigger government. More freedoms, not greater restrictions.
Can I be any clearer?
“mission accomplished?’
Yes.
Not only did they get him to promulgate their brand…this year, they’ve got our government to take the opportunity tewwo has [again] gifted them to pass all kinds of nasty, liberty curtailing shit which they’d never have had the balls to try on otherwise. Fear IS the mindkiller.
“Can I be any clearer?”
You don’t need to be for my sake. I’m just riffing off of your perfectly reasonable observations for my own justifications.
And yes, he seems an unlikely candidate for bail…but, whomever put him on it probably thought that they were (admirably) following due process?
That’s what (supposedly) separates ‘us’ from Middle Eastern warzones?
And just to be clear myself, I have less to no tolerance for conservative theocratic murderers than most every other thing.
I’d have hardly thought I exhibit traits of an apologist for (any) religion (least of all, when it’s demonstrably at its worst).
“but, whomever put him on it probably thought that they were (admirably) following due process?”
Perhaps, but bail is not granted by a judge and jury. It’s granted by an individual with their own biases and prejudices.
Not only did they get him to promulgate their brand
Like I said earlier, murdor is daesh’s most reliable salesman
liberty curtailing shit
which ironically enough didn’t help them here, and wouldn’t have, as this guys lunacy has been in the public domain for years apparently.
You don’t need to go sniffing metadata to see his insanity, it was on his friggin facebook page
“which ironically enough didn’t help them here, and wouldn’t have, as this guys lunacy has been in the public domain for years apparently.
You don’t need to go sniffing metadata to see his insanity, it was on his friggin facebook page”
Precisely.
The new laws, imho, are less about tewwo & more about stomping on whistleblowing, potentially silencing dissent & potentially having an invisible finger upon the online pulse (notably…without requisite oversight).
Ex-DPP on 7:30, “judicial officers made judgements”.
“Perhaps, but bail is not granted by a judge and jury. It’s granted by an individual with their own biases and prejudices.”
Judges & juries come with those too.
Still far preferable to summary executions, witch hunts & public lynchings.
“Judges & juries come with those too.”
I’d rather be subject to the judgement of a dozen of my “peers”, than a potentially activist, politically-appointed “judicial officer”.

from tonights reportland, it seems crank was desperately trying to attach himself to isis with fakebook video`s and obtain a following, it is also interesting his (what-seems) only demand was a few minutes phone time with mr-rabbit
“I’d rather be subject to the judgement of a dozen of my “peers”, than a potentially activist, politically-appointed “judicial officer”.”
As would I.
I imagine there’ll be a bit more erring on the side of caution henceforth, for the short term at least.
But the super duper tewwa laws aren’t about judges and their biases or not.
It’s our super dooper enhancd spies who have shown they cannot spy on a guy with a very public profile.
And we have now given them posers to super snooper anywhere, anytime, without our knowledge
keystone spies dropping spy bots on your computer. What could go wrong?
Abbott may be many things, but stoopid enough to give that guy succour & fall into such a public relations trap by ‘live’ talking to him on the phone, he isn’t.
Such a gratification would have every crank with a bridge to burn taking hostages for an audience with the contemporary hood ornament.
“keystone spies dropping spy bots on your computer. What could go wrong?”
I assume they’ve probably already been doing it for years…but now they’ve got ‘immunity’ when they get caught, and the insider who blows the whistle on them will get legally obliterated instead.
“Such a gratification would have every crank with a bridge to burn taking hostages for an audience with the contemporary hood ornament.”
Even Teh Shock Jocks knew giving him oxygen was not on.
Social media/Big Media(which feeds on such things for clickbait & viewer sustenance) is an immaculate platform (if granted) for being the (temporary) centre of global notoriety…and the world was watching.
IS et al milk that shit for all it’s worth. Massive recruiting tool leveraged on the disenfranchised & aggrieved(legitimately or otherwise).
A cursory glance at Bolt’s snailtrack, reveals predictable lines of monocular, narrative adhering analysis & fingerpointing.
Amongst all of this, suddenly the focus is (from his probable p.o.v.) not plumbing the depths of despair & his team eating their own, as it has become increasingly escalatory in recent times.
No doubt, this recent horror will play out for a long time, and given it didn’t happen in the Ukraine or over the Southern Ocean but was here , that’s to be expected & appreciated.
But, it isn’t unlimited political mileage.
I imagine he’ll return to his adopted laborlaborlabor mantra not long into the New Year, when he gets back from his annual holiday in Europe (or wherever a battler like him goes this year…he likes opera, you know) because, well, he simply must .
the shitsandwich from last week hasn’t gotten any tastier.

“I didn’t know that.”
Me neither.
I gave up reading holy Books when I wasn’t obliged to anymore (A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…).
I read The (Good News Bible…not Orwellian at all!…) book which was part of that ‘stream’…nonsense aside, they don’t diverge from eachother nearly enough to make themselves meaningfully differentiable, at core…)
The bits I haven’t read yet are interesting sometimes, in the same way that I never read Tolkein, but I can enjoy a bit o Peter Jacksonising…but then, I been watching his since Bad Taste…
“All Tony’s tewwa meta data and warin… oh we forgot….”
Maybe we’re now guaranteed that they’ll be clandestinely (our government, not just FB) up in our vomitbook profiles?
It was always bound to happen, but fear gave them the key & they’ve always wanted to set that door ajar.
I think IvIeta warned of the potential future implications of wikileakian overstepping of the ‘whatthepublicdeservestoknow’ mark, years back- based upon said contributor’s clinical prescience.
Not encouraging developments…

‘Monis apparently converted to Sunni Islam only recently, perhaps because you can’t really claim to love IS when you’re a Shiite and they’re trying to exterminate you.’
Waleed Aly / SMH
I been watching his since Bad Taste…
And who can forget the Feebles 😉
Speaking of which, Where’s Wally?
You would hope the execs at the tele companies would take note of this. Of course, I’m sure their ratings would have skyrocketed during this, so no hope of that happening.
And all that was needed was a news flash. Even a two minute update every hour would have exhausted the news content of this slow moving story. Admittedly this would have given Monis some of the exposure he craved, but much less than he actually received. It might also have taken the heat out of the worst of the social media reaction, which at times seemed like a megaphone specifically designed for morons.
The rolling coverage made it all worse. If Monis had actually been a trained jihadi, and not just a murderous arse clown with mental health issues and a gun, the media coverage could easily have contributed to the death of more hostages as part of an ISIS media plan. Some protocols to avoid this in future events – because they will happen – would be prudent. But unlikely.
On the upside, the authorities, all of them, federal, state and city, elected and public service, all seemed to carry out their duties with exemplary care and competence. Their performance and the better angels of our nature evident in the hashtag #Illridewithyou are the only positives to take away from this.

Some f**kwit “expert” on RN just now refers to the hostage-killer as “this gentleman”.
GMAFB!
Waleed Aly hitting the core.
Islam has such permeable borders, such an absence of hierarchy, that anyone can become anything in their own mind. Its symbols are available to anyone who wants to claim them and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them. Australian Muslims had been disowning Monis for at least seven years. They’d even expressed their concerns to the authorities. But how can you stop the “fake sheikh” being real to himself?
There’s no control order regime to account for this. There’s no metadata inside an apparently deranged mind. We’re busy fretting about the terrorists’ tools of the future – which is all fair enough – while they wreak havoc with the tools of the past.
…..
But there’s another history to be written here. One that is very much in control. It’s a history written not just in the statements of leaders, but in the minutiae of our everyday interactions. It’s the history we glimpsed as the siege unfolded when a single, humble Australian decided to declare #illridewithyou in solidarity with Muslims too scared to ride public transport. It’s a history that commenced with the interfaith vigil held at the Lakemba and Auburn mosques. And it’s a history to be determined by what we decide this tragedy symbolises: the sordid ideology of a man who deserves to be forgotten or the greatest virtues of those of us left behind.

We’ll be hearing a lot more from them, with their perfect 20-20 hindsight
Like this moron
Fox News contributor, said: “These people are hell bent to kill innocent people … In a free society there is nothing you can do about it. You can’t prevent all these things from happening, which is why most Americans, when they see this stuff play out … they think about guns and it is why they think about personal gun ownership and being able to protect yourself, protect your family and protect your neighbours.

Which he spouted around the same time this was being reported.
An Iraq war veteran is suspected of killing six family members, including his 14-year-old niece, in a series of shootings near the north-eastern US city of Philadelphia, authorities say.

I wonder if anyone asked this foxknews dick just how many mass shooting have been stopped by armed vigilantes in the states? I don’t recall too many offhand. But I do recall a lot of mass shootings.
“But there’s another history to be written here.”
For once I agree with Walid Ali. While the political hacks used this event to spin their narrative – blaming Murdoch, pretending that this was not a terrorist attack or that it had nothing to do with Islam or that is all the fault of males – ordinary Australians showed their basic decency.
Two hostages sacrificed themselves for the others, thousands placed flowers in Martin Place, there was an outpouring of grief from all sections of society and there was #illridewithou which became for a while the most popular twitter trend globally. These things are an affirmation that ordinary Australians are more interested in basic humanity than political point-scoring. They were not cowed by religious terrorism in their midst nor did they give in to petty tribalism. This is the best response to the terrorists.
These things are an affirmation that ordinary Australians are more interested in basic humanity than political point-scoring.
