Death Cult Blamed for Chocolate Jihad Mayhem!

December 15, 2014

B43mr1lCUAE8VFG

The absence of any tangible facts or credible information hasn’t prevented The Daily Telegraph from insinuating that the so-called ISIS DEATH CULT is behind the hostage siege situation currently unfolding in Martin Place, Sydney.

While more level-headed minds await categorical facts before jumping to conclusions, The Daily Telegraph didn’t let the opportunity to ramp up fear and hysteria in the community and scaremongering of Muslims to one hundred and eleventy.

Meanwhile, shock jock Ray Hadley claims he has spoken directly to one of the victims taken hostage in the Lindt chocolate shop.

Hadley said on 2GB that the male hostage was “remarkably calm” while relaying information from the gunman over the phone.

The gunman wanted the hostage to speak live on radio, a demand that Hadley said he refused.

“I wouldn’t allow that to happen,” Hadley told his listeners.

Hadley claimed the gunman was talking about “other operatives being involved” however Federal Police are yet to verify Hadley’s claims.

A number of hostages were forced to hold an Islamic flag against the shop window shortly after the siege began at 9.45am.

The best course of action is to mock those who think Islamic “tewawism” could possibly happen here. It’s all just a huge beat-up by the right-wing-fascist Abbott government, aided and abetted by the MURDOCH(!) “newspapers”, all aimed at ‘manufacturing consent’ from the frightened and compliant sheeple.

So more guns on the streets = less chance of being killed?

“…Anywhere between a dozen and 50 hostages, and not a gun between them. How do you think this guy would fare in, say, Texas?…”

He would have walked in and started blasting away with his semi automatic. Most dead in the first minutes.

Yes, this does seem odd … (meaning more like a hostage situation rather than a terrorist)

Sieges and hostage-taking in the ‘burbs are regular enough occurrences, several in the past few weeks; but a CBD siege tends to happen only once or twice a year; which probably explains the keen (commercial) media interest, and possibly the confliction surrounding meaning-giving to #itsafreecountry. Still, as is said, “[w]e have a lot more questions than answers and we must be patient and allow hard facts to emerge before we jump to any conclusions”; particulalrly as some of the (un)available (in)direct information reportedly is being actively suppressed for tactical-operational and/or public safety reasons.)

A terrible outcome to a siege by a common criminal. Let’s hope we can now put some perspective into the mourning of the families who have lost loved ones and those who survived but will be scarred for life.

Our media will today be hanging their heads in collective shame. More a hope than a premonition.

But well done to the police in a very tense situation. Was it the right call? We’ll never know. But they all should be commended, not just for handling the madmen, but the media mongrels ramping up their pathetic little market share at the expense of decency.

wow, hartcher with a moment of lucidity

When I chanced to walk through Martin Place a little after 11am on Monday, I saw the police clustered closely around the Lindt Cafe. I saw the police cordon as I stood among some hundreds of onlookers.

The police evidently had the situation in hand. The crowd was curious, but might as well have been watching a busker for all the tension in the air. Some onlookers snapped photos. Some left as others arrived. The scene was perfectly calm.

It was only when I turned on the TV an hour or so later that I realised the magnitude of our dimwittedness. We were supposed to be terrified.

Man Haron Monis is a self-professed sheik, spiritual healer and sexual-assault suspect who sent threatening letters to slain Australian soldiers’ families. An intelligence source told NBC News he was the suspected hostage-taker at a Lindt shop.

Monis — who is also known as Sheikh Haron — is described as a “cleric and activist” on a website in his name which also likens him to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange as a victim of political persecution.

Durham is over-simplfying. There are a number of matters she seems ignorant of. First, the dead dog was a refugee from Iran – perhaps he is not mainstream shia in his views. Also Iran often helps sunni groups. After 9/11 it sheltered al Qaeda operatives and it gives military support to sunni terrorist group Hamas. And then there is the fact that the dead dog called for an ISIS flag. seems a littel more complicated than Durham’s simplistic sloganeering.

yes, l noticed the language too, the national zombie couldn`t help himself and shove `death-cult` and `terrorist` into his press-pack address, which teabag-media didn`t challenge him on, even tho earlier, teabag-media `had` reported he was not in any group, had been tortured in iran, and was mentally ill/unstable, and the situation `was` looking by available sources, that it was `criminal` not `terror`

no wonder nsw-plod won`t say anything until investigation confirms it, and who can blame`em

yes, l noticed the language too,

It was depressing seeing it on tele when I got home from work. They spent minutes at a time showing montages of the non-isil flag from a dozen different perspective, with foreboding music accompanying it, and a huge banner under with the words “Sydney Siege”. Later in hte evening, when the tele went back on, the same image montage was being played, with the same music, but now the banner read “Sydney Terror Siege”

It was like they’d convinced even themselves that daesh had come to town.

On the other hand, I can’t help thinking this is just as much about the feelings of the donor, perhaps relieving some innate feeling of guilt. For some, it’s probably nothing more than a public display of virtue.

The muslim version of “hell” must be a really busy place right now …

Muslims believe in jahannam (in Arabic: جهنم) (which is related to the Hebrew word gehinnom and resembles the versions of Hell in Christianity). In the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam, there are literal descriptions of the condemned in a fiery Hell, as contrasted to the garden-like Paradise (jannah) enjoyed by righteous believers.

In addition, Heaven and Hell are split into many different levels depending on the actions perpetrated in life, where punishment is given depending on the level of evil done in life, and good is separated into other levels depending on how well one followed God while alive. The gate of Hell is guarded by Maalik who is the leader of the angels assigned as the guards of hell also known as Zabaaniyah.

Although generally Hell is often portrayed as a hot steaming and tormenting place for sinners, there is one Hell pit which is characterized differently from the other Hell in Islamic tradition. Zamhareer is the Hell of extreme coldness, of unbearable blizzards, ice, and snow.

  114. December 16, 2014 7:37 pm

Generally speaking, I favour fewer laws, not more. Smaller government, not bigger government. More freedoms, not greater restrictions.

    Can I be any clearer?

  115. December 16, 2014 7:39 pm

    “mission accomplished?’

    Yes.

Not only did they get him to promulgate their brand…this year, they’ve got our government to take the opportunity tewwo has [again] gifted them to pass all kinds of nasty, liberty curtailing shit which they’d never have had the balls to try on otherwise. Fear IS the mindkiller.

That’s what (supposedly) separates ‘us’ from Middle Eastern warzones?

  118. December 16, 2014 7:45 pm

And just to be clear myself, I have less to no tolerance for conservative theocratic murderers than most every other thing.

  119. December 16, 2014 7:47 pm

You would hope the execs at the tele companies would take note of this. Of course, I’m sure their ratings would have skyrocketed during this, so no hope of that happening.

And all that was needed was a news flash. Even a two minute update every hour would have exhausted the news content of this slow moving story. Admittedly this would have given Monis some of the exposure he craved, but much less than he actually received. It might also have taken the heat out of the worst of the social media reaction, which at times seemed like a megaphone specifically designed for morons.

The rolling coverage made it all worse. If Monis had actually been a trained jihadi, and not just a murderous arse clown with mental health issues and a gun, the media coverage could easily have contributed to the death of more hostages as part of an ISIS media plan. Some protocols to avoid this in future events – because they will happen – would be prudent. But unlikely.

On the upside, the authorities, all of them, federal, state and city, elected and public service, all seemed to carry out their duties with exemplary care and competence. Their performance and the better angels of our nature evident in the hashtag #Illridewithyou are the only positives to take away from this.

    Waleed Aly hitting the core.

Islam has such permeable borders, such an absence of hierarchy, that anyone can become anything in their own mind. Its symbols are available to anyone who wants to claim them and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them. Australian Muslims had been disowning Monis for at least seven years. They’d even expressed their concerns to the authorities. But how can you stop the “fake sheikh” being real to himself?

There’s no control order regime to account for this. There’s no metadata inside an apparently deranged mind. We’re busy fretting about the terrorists’ tools of the future – which is all fair enough – while they wreak havoc with the tools of the past.

    …..

But there’s another history to be written here. One that is very much in control. It’s a history written not just in the statements of leaders, but in the minutiae of our everyday interactions. It’s the history we glimpsed as the siege unfolded when a single, humble Australian decided to declare #illridewithyou in solidarity with Muslims too scared to ride public transport. It’s a history that commenced with the interfaith vigil held at the Lakemba and Auburn mosques. And it’s a history to be determined by what we decide this tragedy symbolises: the sordid ideology of a man who deserves to be forgotten or the greatest virtues of those of us left behind.

You can’t prevent all these things from happening, which is why most Americans, when they see this stuff play out … they think about guns and it is why they think about personal gun ownership and being able to protect yourself, protect your family and protect your neighbours.

For once I agree with Walid Ali. While the political hacks used this event to spin their narrative – blaming Murdoch, pretending that this was not a terrorist attack or that it had nothing to do with Islam or that is all the fault of males – ordinary Australians showed their basic decency.

Two hostages sacrificed themselves for the others, thousands placed flowers in Martin Place, there was an outpouring of grief from all sections of society and there was #illridewithou which became for a while the most popular twitter trend globally. These things are an affirmation that ordinary Australians are more interested in basic humanity than political point-scoring. They were not cowed by religious terrorism in their midst nor did they give in to petty tribalism. This is the best response to the terrorists.
