Rostrum!

February 27, 2015

book

Hello patriots.

How much fun has politics been this week?

It’s barely been three weeks since Tony Abbott announced he was a “changed man” and then blew everything by resorting to the attack dog form he displayed so prominently in Parliament as Opposition Leader.

Regardless of what wingman Mathias Cormann has to say, a few other people, let’s call them “the rest of Australia” just for argument’s sake, know he’s finished.

From the Prince Philip Knighthood, to sacking the so-called “Father of the House” Philip Ruddck, and more recently the extraordinary character assassination of the President of the Human Rights Commission, Tony Abbott has displayed an extraordinary lack of what some might call “a modicum of intelligence”.

And that’s only been the latest string of blunders in the past few weeks.

Barely 18 months into his first term and it looks like Abbott’s about to go down in history not just as the worst PM ever, but with the well-earned moniker as “half term Tony” or “Mister Shouty.”

Even Joe Hockey knows the writing’s on the wall.  Following on from the success of his last budget (oh my aching sides), smoking Joe Hockey is due to deliver his next budget in nine weeks time.

I imagine it’s all going swimmingly well.

hahahahahahaha…..!

“the extraordinary character assassination of the President of the Human Rights Commission”

Is this Abbott’s idea of “changing” – by reverting to his ugly but effective tactics as opposition leader?

    ***

It has been a fun week. Next week may be even funnier. Could the Libs be stupid enough to elect Hockey as leader?

  3. February 27, 2015 4:24 pm

    In a word. No.

But they could be stupid enough to elect Morrison. Now that would be funny!

While he and Treasurer Joe Hockey insist only voters have the right to remove the Liberal leadership team, the numbers are mounting against him.

I find this push against Abbott strange. Turnbull was hopeless when he was Opposition leader and would do worse in the polls than Abbott. When the left say they want Turnbull you know there is something wrong.

Perhaps the conspiracy theory is correct. There is a big climate change conference at the end of the year and Turnbull is more likely to sign away our sovereign rights than Abbott.

I am sure Turnbulls merchant banker friends would like an ETS

Ever heard of the TPP, Neil?

  12. February 27, 2015 4:46 pm

There is no way, despite his ludicrous repeated assertions that the voters elect the PM (demonstrably false, and blatantly self serving in Abbott/Hockey’s case), that Abbott or AbbottCorp have the nuts to go to a DD now.

As hilarious as that might be to behold, we do not need an overwhelming ALP majority any more than we need AbbottCorp claiming inexistent mandates & going all arrogant and gung-ho ideological ‘reform’ agenda.

  13. February 27, 2015 4:51 pm

Morrison would be a bullseye as PM. Too much baggage. Only limpets like Neil don’t recognise the unsavoury underlying nature of his ‘legacy’.

Turnbull will result in mass exodus of the Coalition base, and perhaps even a National Party revolt, if made PM. This would outweigh any votes he may harvest from the ‘middle’, imho.

I hope Abbott cries at the ‘unfairness’ of it all whence he is deposed by whomever wants the poisoned goblet half full of ideological secretions & the anchor around the neck of ongoing failed contentious policy madness.

Shadow health minister Catherine King said, if Mr Abbott scrapped the co-payment altogether, it would be a desperate measure to save his job and not due to concern for Medicare.

“Tony Abbott is only coming to the party very late,” Ms King told reporters on Saturday.
“If he dumps his GP tax, that will be a good thing. But people will remember he will be dumping it because he wants to save his job.

“This isn’t about the government consulting, it isn’t about the government caring about Medicare, caring about our health care system and caring about patients.”

    http://www.news.com.au/national/breaking-news/government-flags-changes-to-gp-plan/story-e6frfku9-1227242555129

What an utterly stupid, partisan and politicising statement to make … virtually goading The Mad Abbott to enforce a co-payment … silly naïve woman …

Let them abandon the co-payment and then play politics OR do the right thing and reinforce positive behaviour … (ie well done after much consultation they reached the right decision).

Obviously, after a year and a half of not doing a lot, and certainly not embarrassing Minsters Bowen and Burke, Triggs had to move quickly (when the Libs came in) as the rate at which Morrison was getting kids out of detention would have rendered her report irrelevant. In fact it is largely irrelevant. Indonesia has lost its credibility and has shown itself to be cruel and barbaric.

Civilised people do not engage in state sanctioned murder.

  178. March 4, 2015 11:16 am

I can’t believe that anyone ever thought Indonesia would relent & not execute them.

In fact, I’d say the clamour from countries like Australia when it’s one of ‘our’ own whose head is on the block, probably strengthens Indonesia’s resolve to carry out the sentence.

Pity all those put to death…not just those Australians.

  179. March 4, 2015 11:18 am

Also, by extension, (x?) States in the USA aren’t populated by ‘civilised people’?

  180. March 4, 2015 11:18 am

And what is war, if not ‘state sanctioned murder’?

Just another Islamic state dealing out punishment completely and utterly out of proportion to the crime.

With the exception of the Balinese they nothing but a bunch of illiterate ignorant bastards.

Why don’t they just revert to some civilised stoning or a bit of head lopping like others do for even daring to criticise Islam

  183. March 4, 2015 1:55 pm

“Just another Islamic state dealing out punishment completely and utterly out of proportion to the crime.”

Yeah…because those US States who indulge in capital punishment are clearly ‘Islamic’.

You obviously missed the “out of proportion” bit.

Besides the odd spy the USA only kills murderers.

But that’s OK……..you just hate the USA anyway and no matter what anyone posts wont sway you from that.

“……..you just hate the USA anyway and no matter what anyone posts wont sway you from that”

What a truly stupid, false assertion.

There is however strong evidence that you “just hate Indonesia anyway and no matter what anyone posts wont sway you from that” because they’re just ” nothing but a bunch of illiterate ignorant bastards”.

Apparently you condone capital punishment when it’s not being undertaken by Islamic States.

I merely used capital punishment in the USA to contrast your hyperbolic smere against all of Islam. Your claim that I hate the USA is ridiculous & unsubstantiable.

You need to calm down on the fearsquirting over Islam; you’ve been had.

    More verballing from the Left

  188. March 4, 2015 4:37 pm

Haha. The comments on this page are hilarious:

  189. March 4, 2015 4:40 pm

I like kangaroos, except when I’m in my car…but there sure as hell is no shortage of them.

  190. March 4, 2015 4:48 pm

    “More verballing from the Left”

And of course this baseless crap…”“……..you just hate the USA anyway and no matter what anyone posts wont sway you from that”…wasn’t verballing at all. gmafb

Your indignation regarding capital punishment, in the comment above at least, is confined to Islamic States. Clearly, as I suggested, capital punishment is not the sole domain of Islamic States.

Capital punishment in the USA, or China, or Iran, or India, or Japan (etc) is no less “cruel and barbaric”, in and of itself, than Indonesia. As TomM said, “Civilised people do not engage in state sanctioned murder”.

You just wanted to rant against Islam is all. Congratulations.

Kangaroo is the most environmentally meat on the planet. Kangaroo farts don’t contain methane, they apparently graze in an environmentally friendly way.

I’m amazed that the Greens are against the industry, it’s actually one they should be promoting.

blockquote>Greenpeace recommends that Australia reduce its beef consumption by 20 per cent, as the agricultural sector is the biggest contributor of methane (a greenhouse gas) to the atmosphere, and beef production is the biggest contributor within that sector.
Kangaroos do not emit methane, so replacing a portion of the beef industry with kangaroo meat helps Australia to combat climate change.

I think kangaroo meat is too rubbery & tastes like excremental congealment, but if people wanna eat it & it’s harvested humanely then fine.

I like cows and sheep too.

FORMER Supreme Court judge says he told the headmaster of Knox Grammar to report an allegation to police that a teacher had been sleeping with a boy at the elite Sydney school for two years.

MORRIS “Dusty” Ireland, who was chairman of the Knox school council in the 1990s, has told the child abuse royal commission headmaster Ian Paterson told him in 1992 a student was threatening to sue the school and expose it “as a hotbed of homosexuality”.
