This is a fairly sobering read on the psychology of pokie machines…

When all you have is a hammer: How can our future Mars colonies be free of sexism and racism?
l suppose it will be another space-cadet cash-bonfire that will produce little to no benefit for the average-joe while those gobbling rodenberries continue the delusion.
Sounds great! It is all about getting the proportions right. Like salted caramel ice-cream. I might test some combos at home tonight!
I think it sounds disgusting!
“I think it sounds disgusting!”
I just happened to have a Twirl and some Vegemite to hand here in the office, so I smeared some on. It took a little more Vegemite than I first expected but It sort of works.
The person who supplied the Vegemite was disgusted and wouldn’t even try it. Silly them.
Trainspotting was a yucky movie with a great soundtrack especially Born Slippy.
“a post where you can talk about whatever you like”
Isn’t that all of them?
Trainspotting was a great movie.
Acid House was also good.
…Isn’t that all of them?…
I thought so too, oh well if it helps reb out 😉
Trainspotting was a great movie.
Yes, and most of the young cast went on to bigger and better things.
If you look closely you’ll even spot a young Mrs “Nucky” Thompson.
“It Follows” was quite a good movie too, apparently..
So I’ve heard. Can’t remember where, though.
Is that TB on the right?
Yes, and I suspect that’s Walrus who’s comforting the young woman who’s doing the shovelling…
It’s a picture of Brisbane property developers. Taken last week.
Cardinal Walrus?
Straight outta South Yarra…

Interesting. The Labour Party are being sidelined by regional & splinter parties, leaving the Conservatives as the winners.
Tough I suppose the SNP is a little more than a regional party.

erm, Scotland is a country and the SNP looks to take all seats … hardly a “region” … and the SNP is willing to form a coalition with Labour … the far right UKIP has been clobbered …
These Western elections are returning such “hung” parliamentary results that it indicates the democratic system we suffer is really broken …
I don’t particularly mind hung parliaments – as long as there is competent leadership, and good cross benches, eg-
*The first Carr government = A+
*The first Bracks government = A
It was because of duds and dills like Gillard and Oakshott that hung parliaments have a bad name.

Eat yer hearts out Luddites … chuckle …
Eat yer hearts out Luddites
Yep. our grubmint are the modern day Luddites.
I see that labor have apparently come to a deal on the RET. Nothings final yet, and it looks like the libs threw in some curve balls at the end. Interesting to see what Labor will decide?
Mr Butler said he would now consult shadow cabinet and the Labor caucus.
But he said he was unhappy with what he described as a last-minute push to include native wood waste burning.
“Labor is very disappointed that Tony Abbott has decided at the last minute to throw a red herring on the table,” he said.
“There is no case for introducing native wood waste burning into the renewable energy industry.”
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-08/government-opposition-reach-deal-on-renewable-energy-target/6455406
It also looks like they want to “review” it yearly, which may prove to be it’s undoing. This latest “review” has gone for over a year, and renewables are shedding jobs almost daily as a result. It is clear they want to kill it. Luddites for sure.
But it looks like our Uni’s are not going to team up with the modern day Luddites, and appear to still have at their core academic standards, and not simply money orientated. They should be congratulated for not adding their name to anti-science.
“The scale of the strong and passionate emotional reaction was one that the university did not predict,” Professor Johnson said on Friday evening.
“It is with great regret and disappointment that I have formed the view that the events of the past few weeks places the centre in an untenable position as it lacks the support needed across the university and the broader academic community to meet its contractual obligations and deliver value for money for Australian taxpayers,” he said.

TR, I’ve just begun discussing the future with my 17 yo g/son and developing an ongoing plan with him … I can assure you coal mining or power station operation aren’t in the mix …
Been trying to research Ethan Automotive – but thin on the ground …

Been trying to research Ethan Automotive – but thin on the ground …
I’m guessing it’s a conglomerate of people from within the industry who might see an opportunity to jump in before the supplier industry becomes too much of a shell. Who knows, if they play their cards right, they could work in worth General Motors or Toyota before they leave. I can see the thinking, but it is a stretch to see it coming to fruition, especially with a grubmint who appear hell bent on closing down manufacturing.
If they play their cards right though, I can see the grubmint handing them some largesse just before the next election 😉
Good luck to them I reckon. We have the skills and infrastructure here for it. Make use of it before it goes.
… I can assure you coal mining or power station operation aren’t in the mix …
No, globally it is clear that that is going the way of the weavers, and renewables are the way forward. We had a chance to get back in after a decade in the wilderness, but this latest set back might prove to be too much. The rate of investment overseas is rising exponentially (well…), while here it is actually going back.
Fucking Luddites.
tb””’I can assure you coal mining or power station operation aren`t in the mix”””
tr””’No, globally it is clear that that is going the way of the weavers””’
#yeah agree, the question is no longer `if` but `when`, but the `when` is unclear at the moment, tho when the time comes it will be sudden and rapid, a mate told me, that is not quite an industry insider, and follows it more than l can, reckons the current system won`t change/adapt due to big-coal in generation, and to expect discounts, `price-wars` etc in the future. Another `hobble-point` is state/s revenue from `leases`/private-govt `partnerships` which have been milking big-buck$ out of consumers.
#We will have to wait and see how good his info is l guess. (The big-buildings seem to need bio-fuel to go off-grid, maybe they can`t get enough juice off solar.?)
#go.powerwall:-)
Australia’s education minister, Christopher Pyne, has vowed to find another university to host the Bjorn Lomborg “consensus centre” and is seeking legal advice about a decision by the University of Western Australia (UWA) to hand back $4m in federal government funding awarded for it.
http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2015/may/08/climate-contrarian-bjrn-lomborgs-centre-dropped-by-wa-university?CMP=share_btn_tw
I remember when this was first announced, and pyne initially tried to tell us it was all UWA’s idea lol.
“I am disappointed that the University of Western Australia (UWA) will not be a part of this effort,” he said. “The UWA vice chancellor found himself in an impossible position when the centre was used as a political football. The facts about Australia consensus have been drowned out.
NOW they are claiming it is a “political football” ROFL. After a political party picks for a Uni what it should do and look at ROFL
And what “facts” does this “consensus” have? ships spraying sea water to cool the ocean? And what is it with this newspeak they use? “consensus” for a group of mindless radicals pushing big oils barrow? What fucken “consensus”?
At least back in the days before AGW became a consensus, and it was just a group of radicals on the outer, they used science to bring other scientists around. Not this lot, they just use words like “consensus” and pretend they have some.
LUDDITES (word for the weekend I think)
guardian”””””””Pyne accused the UWA academics of `shouting down` views with which they disagreed.
`We are disappointed that the university has indicated it cannot effectively deliver against the contract and is seeking to return $4 million in research funds.””””””’
#while mr-poodle is from the canoe-state, he is entrenched in the east-coast bullshit and clearly didn`t seek any advice from his west-coast co-workers. They might have told him the bleeding obvious, that the west-coast institutions and `professors` won`t be interested in destroying their professional `standing` or institution `brand` for the benefit of east-coast shills. Let`s face it, `consensus-centre` sounds like a `denial` outfit, even if it is not the case.
And as well as ethan perhaps we should be supporting these people
http://www.tomcar.com.au/our-story/
Good find, Kneel … agree …
Pyne astounds me with his stupidity… a few years ago I just thought he was a sneaky prick who thought people wouldn’t notice, like any born liar … now I think his IQ is probably lower than the goldfish in my pond …
“The UWA vice chancellor found himself in an impossible position when the centre was used as a political football.
WTF does Pyne think put the (obviously dim-witted) Vice Chancellor in the “impossible position” in the first place …
Stupid is, as stupid does …
Just went to see Ex_Machina….
Thoroughly enjoyed it! An intelligent and realistic si fi thriller…
Hey! That looks good! sreb!
Is it general release? Haven’t seen it advertised!
It’s about time you did a film review … must be over a year now … 🙂
I heard about some film recently. Someone said something about one.
It is good TB. Limited release at independent cinemas only I think.
I’ve just returned from a 40th birthday party.
Why so early, I hear you ask.
Well imagine my surprise when the wine that was on offer was the Gossips range “red”.
It was fucking disgusting.
I felt sick after just one sip, so decided to leave.
I mean, that’s just a fkn insult isn’t it?
I wouldn’t even serve that to TB.

I’m just knocking back a 2004 Barossa cab sav, I think the Gossips range is primarily used as nail polish remover.
Is this the locale of a disaffected youth that is shunned by Australian society and therefore turns to radical Islam?

Is that your place ToM? 😉
I wouldn’t even serve that to TB.
That’s very condescending of you, sreb, thanks, mate … perhaps you could try a bit of soda and ice next time … or simply not fkn drink so much!
Battlestar Galactica?
I was a fracking fan, once …
sreb, you might want to send this to your friend … how come you got invited you old fart?

My house is similar, just a little older
What is it with the lefties and violence?
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-10/riots-erupt-in-london-against-re-election-of-david-cameron/6458098
A protest has erupted in central London against the re-election of Britain’s Conservative prime minister David Cameron, with demonstrators throwing bottles, cans and smoke bombs at riot police.
Scuffles broke out when the anti-austerity demonstrators, blaring hooters, banging pots and chanting obscenities, confronted lines of police outside the gate leading to the prime minister’s Downing Street residence. At one point a bicycle was hurled at police.
ToM’s house …
ha-ha, bananasby and blot are bleating about wa-uni canceling `consensus`clap-trap, what fcuking east-coast wankers. #network-10
TB’s house…
according to blot and his `guests` this `consensus` dude is big on doing `cost-benefit`things, so, in other words, mr-rabbit is trying to spent 4-mill$ of taxpayers hard-earned, on an ipa echo-chamber. No wonder the wa-uni told`em to fcuk-off, my bet, so will the rest of the uni`s.
#suck.it.up.teabags
That was before I did the weekend makeover TB
TB’s house…
Why didn’t you just put the street name up as well arsehole! No better than fkn Migs!
“WTF does Pyne think put the (obviously dim-witted) Vice Chancellor in the “impossible position” in the first place … “
The VC somewhat naively thought that universities were tolerant places supporting a diversity of views and opinions. The “impossible position” came about as a result of the caterwauling of the fascist left. They don’t want to actually debate matters. Shooting the messenger is their idea of learned discourse.
Presumably the VC now understands that the opposite of diversity is university!
The VC somewhat naively thought that universities were tolerant places supporting a diversity of views and opinions.
As long as those views adhere to intellectual rigours then yes, but obviously it isn’t lombergs strong point 😉
Couple of great Adds I saw recently
lol Ricky, well done for shoving it up the media gerbils
Loved this line
It seems Photoshop makes discerning the truth a bit more difficult.
As does reading newspapers. Fucken fanciful from the media muppets who turned the language inside out to pin an alleged “broken promise” on Gillard
. Fucken fanciful from the media muppets who turned the language inside out to pin an alleged “broken promise” on Gillard
Tooo funny. All of a sudden worried about truth in media. It didn’t bother you in the least when you linked to Hartchers obviously fanciful tale about Abbott barking out orders from 30,000 feet to make sure there were no same sex couples waiting to meet him.
Thanks Tom R
Nils wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him on the ass… like Abbott and Hokey he’s a liar..
He only quotes Bolt and News so how the fuck would he know shit from clay?
More captain calls, this one a 360 degree revolting twist. Last buget he was telling mothers that he’s got the whole family payments thing happening in their own interest .. next we go to they are double dippers…
Gold plated or Tin Pot?
obviously fanciful tale
Is it fanciful that someone so threatened would do such a thing.
Of course, all they need to do is come clean about events, but that really isn’t thei’re style is it?
Tony Abbott has built up an impressive collection of backflips and about faeces.
Fixed it fer ’em Ricky 😉
I mean, do you think ANYONE could have foreseen that he wasn’t being really sincere with is gold plated ppl 😯
Is it fanciful that someone so threatened would do such a thing.
It looks like the media is supporting Labor. I am sure if Gillard was going down those stairs there would have only been the Ambassador waiting to meet her. Not his partner.
I find it amazing what makes news when Abbott is in power. Lefties seem to have no purpose in life other than to find some mistake Abbott makes no matter how small.
You would be better spending time trying to tell the truth. There were no funding cuts to the automotive industry and it was Holden who threatened Hockey.
I find it amazing what makes news when Abbott is in power
You truly have the memory span of a goldfish nil ROFL
Meanwhile, GOOD!
The Heydon Royal Commission will next week issue a discussion paper that will canvass whether penalties for union officials who breach their duties should be brought into line with those for company directors under the Corporations Act.
Who could possibly argue against that?
