    A great post

Instead we should celebrate the two remarkable decades of progress before the catastrophe of WWI. And never forget the Frontier Wars

It’s a sad story that wasn’t of much interest to me.

There are so many statements from this period of time reb that will go down in history as … WTF!

Speaking of timing after Anzac day, this is how a modern day dickwit wants to leverage our soldiers sacrifice.

Hate is a word to be used sparingly, but I’m really beginning to link it to abbott with extreme prejudice. What a fucking mongrel

Abbott – France owes us a blood debt

Abbott – France owes us a blood debt

What is wrong with that comment? I believe there is something like 50,000 Australian soldiers buried in France.

What is wrong with that comment?

Do you think it is appropriate to leverage the sacrifice of our soldiers in a war long ago over issues long past over our current desire to get a better deal to manufacture for weapons of war?

After all, as somebody recently said ” I believe there is something like 50,000 Australian soldiers buried in France.”

And they weren’t buried there so fuckers like abbott can get a better trade deal so he can do more warmongering!

    Hilarious

Abbott goes on TV last night and parrots what the French know to be the case and the Lefties wake up grabbing at whatever outrage they can to start their pitiful day with.

what the French know to be the case

So, you reckon the French will build our subs cheaper for us because of a “blood debt”.

Perhaps we owe THEM a blood debt for taken the brunt of German aggression for us?

“So, you reckon the French will build our subs cheaper for us because of a “blood debt”.”

I didn’t say that and neither did Abbott.

You just wish he said that.

If you have ever visited this

and the township itself and spoken to its citizens you would realise how stupid you sound

Yep…………………..the contents of what comes out of their minds are like a couple of well loosened sphincters after a burning hot beef vindaloo curry the night before.

    It sprays forth everywhere

you would realise how stupid you sound

Perhaps you can explain what he said then? Because, when they are talking about the difference between a Japanese tender and a French one, and one idiot says “which sailor would you want in the trenches beside you”, and abbott says the French, cos they owe us a “blood debt” the implication is pretty clear.

Which is remarkable when you consider what abbott had previously said about the Japanese and their wartime efforts

So please, expand if you dare

    Gladly

The clear context is in a time of War Abbott clearly expects the French would help us out as we did in WW1 and to a lesser extent in lives lost WW2 Europe

What is so fucking for you to understand about that ?????????

And if you went to VB in France you would actually be able to comprehend their appreciation.

But feel free to spout from your tower of total fucking ignorance if you must.

But I am still heartened that your obsession with Abbott can somehow make your life so fucking miserable

    Everyone duck! Fuck, too late!

Wally, you don’t “trade” soldiers lives … you insensitive bastard!

And visiting shrines of the fallen doesn’t give some sort of super knowledge!

Abbott, as usual, was insensitive … you defending him is ….

Cry superior when you’ve fired in anger and received fire!*

The clear context is in a time of War Abbott clearly expects the French would help us out

The clear context is in a time of War (specifically with China wtf!!) and in respect to our contract with subs Abbott clearly expects the French TO help us out. That they will provide more for us because they owe us!?!

As poor form as it is to call back to that time with cries of “blood debt”, (didn’t he do the same thing with his little solo jihad against isis?) it is just abhorrent to put expectations on a contract in this day and age over something from so long ago. To use the sacrifice of soldiers as leverage in procurement for more weapons is just the lowest form of abuse.

I have no doubt the French are extremely grateful for our sacrifice. I have no doubt our soldiers from back then themselves marveled at what the French withstood to make that sacrifice even possible. To use it now in a political game and in the aim of creating more death and destruction, I don’t NEED to go to France to know how fucking low that is.

Arthur Streeton was one of Australia’s best known landscape painters and member of the “Heidelberg school”…He was appointed an official war artist in May 1918, sent to France and attached to the 2nd Division AIF.

“The subject of the painting is the arrival of the British Fleet in Melbourne on 17 March 1924 on its round-the-world journey. In this unique work Streeton has depicted the arrival of the Empire Special Service Squadron, a fleet of six warships led by the flagship ‘Hood’ with the Admiral of the Fleet Vice-Admiral Sir Frederick Field at the helm. Travelling with the Fleet on the ‘Hood’ was the heir to the British throne, the Prince of Wales, later King George VIII. Bringing the heir to the throne on a worldwide tour was an added attraction for the crowds. Also travelling with the Fleet was Lord Louis Mountbatten who was a young midshipman at the time. The ‘Hood’ was the larger and more modern of the two battle cruisers, the other was the ‘Repulse’. The Sun newspaper of 17 March 1924 described the Fleet entering Port Phillip Bay with the ‘Delhi’ in front leading the light cruiser squadron, followed by the ‘Hood’ and the ‘Repulse’, as a majestic and impressive sight. The Sydney Morning Herald stated: ‘The Special Service Squadron comes to us as a great, living symbol of our very safety and protection.’ The ships were headed for Port Melbourne for docking. The crowds would have had several days to view the great battleships. The manning of British and Australian warships was interchangeable with Australian sailors on British ships and vice-versa, so that there were possibly Australian sailors on these warships. Melbourne Botanical Gardens is seen in the foreground, with the tower of Melbourne Boys Grammar School beyond the Gardens.”
