Klansplaining: “It’s ok to be White”

October 16, 2018

Yesterday 28 Senators voted in favour of Pauline Hanson’s racist stunt that “it’s ok to be white.”

In its entirety, the bill called for the Australian Senate to acknowledge “the deplorable rise of anti-white racism and attacks on Western civilization.”

ANTI WHITE RACISM “RIFE” SAYS HANSON

“People have a right to be proud of their cultural background, whether they are black, white or brindle. If we cannot agree on this, I think it’s safe to say anti-white racism is well and truly rife in our society,” Hanson said.

Speaking against the motion, Richard Di Natale said being white in Australia wasn’t just okay, it was “winning the lotto.”

“Just look around this chamber and see how many faces you see that aren’t white. Have a look in the privileged positions of Australian society, people who occupy these seats of the rich and powerful. How many of them are not white?”

If you’re still in any doubt, “it’s ok to be white” is a slogan created by white supremacists – and your government just voted for it.

While the vote was defeated 31 – 28, the number of Senators supporting the bill shocked many, with Mathias Cormann forced to front the media to somehow Klansplain away the Coalition’s enthusiasm for the racist bill as an “administrative error.”

So the Morrison government would now like us to accept that Government senators accidentally voted for a white supremacist meme which Hanson had flagged well in advance. Not one in their ranks baulked at the idea and many endorsed it soon after.

It’s really quite something else.

Michael Pascoe responded to the Government’s defence perfectly..

The government supported a racist meme for the base political motive of courting a divisive, pig-ignorant minority party. Either you’re not man enough to be honest about it or, worse, you actually support it. Nobody’s buying your bullshit on this.

So today’s Klansplanation seems to be “We’re not racist, we’re incompetent”

Just said the same (in quotes above) to The Minister! WE must be psyclich or sumfin’ …

Now AG Christian Porter blames a staffer

How long did that take? Until the shit really hit the fan?

I can actually visualise this lot as a bunch of missionaries paddling a dozen fkn barbed wire canoes up the proverbial (how appropriate) shit creek …

I expect a very funny show from Shaun Micaliff this week and Insiders should be hilarious … especially after the by-election results are in … then we’ll really know whether Wentworth electors are on top of their game or stuck on Libs …

    from Christian Porter:

It appears that, of the very large number of motions on which my office’s views are routinely sought, this one was not escalated to me because it was interpreted in my office as a motion opposing racism. The associations of the language were not picked up. Had it been raised directly with me those issues would have been identified.”

    LOL!

A motion from Pauline Hanson! Opposing racism! LOL!

    Penny Wong:

I move that the Senate take note of the government’s stated position on racism in Australia, and I rise to respond to that somewhat pathetic attempt at a clean-up.

And that’s what it was—a pathetic attempt at a clean-up where this minister has to come in and try and take on the chin the fact that they all voted for a motion that included a phrase that everybody knows is used by white supremacists.

All of you did so. And now you want to come in and say, ‘Oops, we made a mistake.’ We don’t believe you. No-one believes you, and everybody knows this is a just craven and pathetic attempt to try and clean up your mess.

The reality is yesterday’s decision by government senators to vote in favour of a phrase created and disseminated by white supremacist groups around the world is a shameful episode.

It is a shameful episode in this chamber. It is a phrase created by white, right-wing extremist groups in the United States with the sole purpose of causing a backlash to help convert people to the cause of the Neo-Nazis and extremist groups like the Klu Klux Klan. There is nothing innocent, nothing unknown, nothing hidden about this phrase.

Frankly, the claim that somehow the government didn’t understand it or didn’t understand this or didn’t know about it is not believable.

Frankly, if Mr Christian Porter wasn’t aware of the true meaning behind this phrase, then how is he fit to be the Attorney-General? And as to government senators who walked in here like sheep yesterday to stand up behind One Nation and Ms Hanson—frankly, do you really deserve to be here?

I mean, who is running the government? Are you so lacking in basic decency, so lacking in understanding, so lacking in common sense, you just walk in and vote for a motion like that without actually looking at it on the basis that somebody in some office somewhere supposedly made a mistake?

Do you really have no understanding of what One Nation was trying to achieve here?”

The problems is that there are lots of offensive symbols, words and phrases now.

It’s actually ok to be any colour, because there isn’t much choice about that (unless you’re Michael Jackson)

But if you’re part of the (white) privileged majority, it is mean spirited and provocative to rub people’s nose in the fact. It’s a little like saying – “I’m glad I’m not your colour…”

Amazing what deluded people believe to support their deluded beliefs. The electricity market has been distorted by giving govt subsidies to renewable energy generation.

Well for the UK the Royal family is at the very least a tourist attraction. nobody is going to the UK to see where the President of the UK lives. They may go to see Buckingham Palace. They also provide a non-political head of state (in theory). So when a disaster occurs in the UK they get a member of the Royal family turning up to provide comfort rather than a politician. I haven’t seen the ad … but the concept I find distasteful, would be unacceptable to Christians and frankly a distraction to the real message … (however, there is a phrase at the bottom of this Change.org I also find distasteful and unnecessary but for another reason …

    Hey everyone,

I saw on the news today that a new TV ad will be aired soon which depicts Jesus on the cross as a means to promote organ donation:

    https://au.news.yahoo.com/organ-donation-ad-depicting-jesus-causing-controversy-090646627.html

It shows Jesus on the cross with two roman soldiers explaining why He needs to sign up to be an organ donor. They raise a phone up to Him to sign Him up and take a selfie with Him whilst on the cross.

Although I can see the need for more organ donors (as a surgical nurse myself), I feel that the advertisement itself is highly derogatory. It is disrespectful and undermines the power of the cross that we place our hope in.

I am launching this campaign to have this advertisement removed from television. We cannot be silent on this matter.

If you have any advice on how to further this cause, please let me know.

    Yours in Christ,

    Dané Craill

Ps. Don’t need your money just your support

Update: I am glad that it’s starting some conversations guys! For some of us it might be a segway to talk about Jesus in our work areas, others have shown some strong opposition to the ad. Either way, keep pressing on!

Yes but the White House is the seat of govt in the USA. The President has governmental powers. If we turned our GG into a President I doubt many people would visit to see where he lives. The Monarchy is still useful for Britain. At the very least it is a tourist attraction. It provides a non-political head of state that the whole nation can unite around. And they have some interesting ceremonial functions. I still think the monarchy is useful for Britain. Perhaps not so useful for us.

    “For applying the law?

And you are encouraging people to break it.”

And queue the absolute hypocrisy from you……………..

“I believe in the rule of law when the law is fair and the law is right. But when it’s unjust I don’t think there’s a problem with breaking it.” – Sally McManus.

Note the “anus” in the name……….what a shithead

How is firing casuals breaking the Law ?

Because you plan on replacing them with someone else to do the same job, simply because you don’t want to pay them appropriately

Pretty sure if you were taken to court, you’d find yourself in a bit of difficulty

So its goodbye to long term casuals

And hello to permanents (should be the solution)

And queue the absolute hypocrisy from you

Actually, I was highlighting yours 😉

If this shit persists just wait for the unemployment rate to shoot up.

    To reflect the reality?
People’s livelihoods shouldn’t be a churn to save employers a few dimes.

“Because you plan on replacing them with someone else to do the same job, ”

    Nope………….!

A tweak here and there and its a different Award classification.

They’ll be given a lower or higher classification (not the same job then LOL). Clearly you dont know the Award. Its even better to pay a few extra dollars per week than thousands after 1 year.

Then they’ll get churned as well. In fact probably after 8 or 9 months especially when there are seasonal peaks in trading

So there is a rate aid by the employer/operator of the site and a contractor who probably observes the award.

It’s an interesting dilemma for unions

A tweak here and there and its a different Award classification.

And this is the kind of things the FWO should be going after, because “a tweak here and there” sounds like you are doing something illegal 😉

Not getting caught doesn’t make it legal

(in case the tweet cannot be seen)

“On of the FWO’s KPIs requires it only to use its compliance/enforcement powers in 10% of disputes it investigates.

In 2017/18, it only used these powers in 4% of cases.

In other words, it could have been twice as tough on wage thieves, but chose to let dodgy bosses run rampant.

Remember, this KPI puts an artificial cap on the number of dodgy bosses who can be prosecuted.

So every time the FWO goes after a unionist who strikes for safety, they have to let a wage thief off the hook.”

There is no thievery involved. They are getting paid as per the Award + 25%. They just wont last due to “seasonal factors” so tough luck.

It’ll require a bit of forward planning of churns and perhaps hire more backpackers rather than locals since backpackers move on anyway.

    Problem solved LOL

Yes there is. You are thieving workers of their proper entitlements

And we are not talking about ‘seasonal’ work. These people have worked the same job for years, not months

What you are talking about is attempting to circumvent the law, something you railed against just recently.

Some companies have been caught out doing exactly what you propose, and are now paying the price

Since when is it illegal to hire backpackers. Its simply a case of being more vigilant with rosters for locals and being alert to when you need to fire someone or stop giving them shifts after a certain amount of time.

We are not talking about highly skilled work in hospitalty.

There is plenty of canon fodder out there. McManus has no fucking idea what will be unleashed

    Simple really.

When you have laid off a local in order to do so.

There is still a requirement to hire locally if possible. Laying someone off and rehiring would find you in hot water, if any of our agencies were doing their job that is.

But they are too busy going after the people who are trying to do the job they refuse to do.

We are not talking about 457 visas. We are talking about waiters and bar persons.

“There is still a requirement to hire locally if possible.” Rubbish if a backpacker has a work visa all good. Plenty of local CVs can be passed over. You cannot force someone to hire a local

“”Laying someone off and rehiring would find you in hot water”

No it wont. Due to the sheer number of Award classifications within the hospitality industry your Union heroes have actually made it easier to provide good reasons

And we don”t need to lay them off. We just stop giving them shifts. Simple

We’re not talking about bar staff, we;re talking about people working full time jobs classed as a casual, not something a backpacker would be interested in, especially if it’s fifo work. Stop moving goalposts

The casual was employed by another company, and the industrial agreement didn’t apply to that company.

Therefore the casual was employed under the award.

Always interesting to read the comments of folk with backgrounds that the award system had no impact on … people are just pawns* … or as manager was heard saying (in my first employer’s boardroom) … workers are like leaves on a tree -they drop off and you grow a new one … (and – this one is a doozey) … workers are like pencils – one breaks and you just grab another one …

*Employees are not just a means to an end for profiteers they are people trying to survive, particularly in the hospitality industry, and improve their lives …

I’ve always wondered why pay and conditions are regulated … but profits and prices aren’t?

Is this where we all end up … Elites and the Plebs …

    (2) Funny repug error by ol`trainy trainy. ‘lovely spot,’ Prince Harry told the prime minister, slomo does not want Australia to become a republic. @let me guess teebz, that quote came from LimitedNews??

    (3) l notice somebody is still doing all he can to entrench poverty at home again. What is not telling team cheerer is backpackers are often on ‘tourist'(no-work) visas. Most of the backpackers are usually working on (scab) lower pay rates than ‘minimum’. Can we here any kudos for offshore donations.

No, the retail sector is already found to be possibly the worst at breaking Industrial Relations rules. You’re examples highlights this.

You would rather circumvent the rules than apply them correctly.

Therefore the casual was employed under the award.

Actually, he was incorrectly employed under the award.

It was once they applied the Award to him correctly that the issue arose

@sorry teamcheerer, LEGALLY speaking; blubbers is correct. This above is; a variation of the KrustyBurger StaffingModel. The above Local-v-backpacker model smoked quite a few towns back in the 1990s; and are now dependent on islandSlaves or/and b`packSlaves, on about 3to4 bucks/hour.

@A similar fulltime-v-casual model is what has smoked many manufacturing-biz over the years, not daOnions or workers as the other imbecile bleats.

Go on say something, you'll feel better...
