Livid Liberal Party members unite to Expel Malcolm Turnbull
Livid Liberal Party members are pushing to expel Malcolm Turnbull from the party in an extraordinary move sparked by his support of a grass-roots campaign to force Tony Abbott out of parliament.
Earlier this week, the Roseville branch of the Liberal Party voted to boot Turnbull from the party by an overwhelming vote of 16 to two.
According to our exclusive sources, the shock move was triggered after Malcolm Turnbull threw his support behind the ‘Vote Tony Out’ campaign which is gathering momentum to force Tony Abbott out of the seat of Warringah.
In passing the motion, branch sources cited Mr Turnbull’s failure to support the party during the Wentworth by-election, as well as his knifing of Mr Abbott and Brendan Nelson during his time in parliament.
The motion will go before the Liberal Party’s Federal Electorate Conference – and if successful – will move to the party’s state council.
I don’t think Malcolm would care actually.
I wonder who will kick in the million to prop up the Libs now that Malcolm won’t
I wonder who will kick in the million to prop up the Libs now that Malcolm won’t
Because nothing will save the
Governor GeneralLiberal party now … oh, the irony of the paraphrase! The LNP have been cheating the system for a long time …
A Delicious shit sandwich best served with a side of Scumo surprise. This ATM delicacy won’t break break the Camans bank.
He! He! indeed Ricky P!
Wot woz that old Frank Ifield song again? LOL!
Malcolm was always in the wrong party. He is smart. I think he would have made a good Treasurer. But he loves himself more than he loves the country.
He should be a member of the ALP where he really belongs
He is smart. He should be a member of the ALP where he really belongs
Well not smart enough for the ALP … that’s why he was PM with the Liberal Party …
But you are getting the hang of it …
Malfunction TurnAbbott might become the leader of the Cayman Offshore Wealthy Party …
FFS!
I suspect Turnbull joined the Liberals because he knew with the ALP factional system he could never lead the ALP and therefore become PM. So he joined the Libs.
I suspect Turnbull joined the Liberals because he knew with the ALP factional system he could never lead the ALP and therefore become PM. So he joined the Libs.
And that worked out well for him … hey? Thank goodness there are no factions in the LNP!
Chortle!
But hey, more praying & gospel studies in schools should send em flocking back to the LNP…Anthony Abbott, man of the people. Incredible reader of the ‘vibe’.
Turns out malcayman is just as petty and vindictive as rudd
I see he’s trying to paint himself as some kind of lefty again. Faark him. I recall the policies he implemented. NONE of htem were progressive. He completely ruined #GONSKI , #NDIS and the #NBN. As far as I can see, they are almost beyond saving now.
“For many non-government schools, fees are almost icing on the government-funded cake”, says Chris Bonnor, a fellow of the Centre for Policy Development and a former school principal.
“But they are not taking an equal share or even a significant share of the responsibilities and obligations that alone belong to government schools … They choose, in a sense, [which families] they serve.”
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-11-22/counting-the-cost-of-the-education-revolution/10495756
“He completely ruined #GONSKI , #NDIS and the #NBN. As far as I can see, they are almost beyond saving now.”
That would only be true if they were up and running, functional and working. That is not true. Labors NBN only had 80,000 connections by 2013. There are 12 million connections in Australia. The NBN Labor started had not even started
And based on past history it would be a disaster like all/most ALP policies.
The only thing the ALP is good at is locking up people. Labor locked up 50,000 humans from 2008-2013
There are 12 million connections in Australia
Bit like promising everyone a VW and then giving … them a scooter … it might work … but it’s bloody hard work!
Anyone got a sow’s ear for Malfunction? We could all have silk purses … all we really need is five loaves a few fish … oops, wrong PM …
l agree with shane. Talkbull gets to leave his cash in the caymans and teabag panic sets in seeking donors.
“Bit like promising everyone a VW and then giving … them a scooter”
The only promises were made by the ALP. In 2007 Rudd promised a NBN costing taxpayers $4.7B and finished by 2013.
No wonder you vote ALP. Liars are attracted to liars
So I’ll see you pushing the LNP
scooterwheelbarrow … any day soon?Meanwhile, I’m reading the David Sedaris book- Calypso. Hilarious and incisive.

Unfortunately in this arsebackward country all we get is yesteryear visions of yesteryear technology at both fed and state/s level. Take a look at my abc peddling the boltsville election. Their dud premier is spending up big on last century rail (don`t know how much) but maybe he will toss in a few more steam engines to improve service. l am pleased to see yomm put the duopoly last on his ballot, he gives me so little opportunity to praise him, but in this case; WELL DONE YOMM!! Sincerely. The same arsebackwardness is inflicted on jonestown too; dudPremier gladys is spending 20-bill on 20-mile of last century light rail tramline; which once up and running will additionally clutter the already well cluttered roads of jonestown. Of course dudpremier gladys is sensitive to voters wishes and keeping running cost down and she has already found `savings` by ensuring the tram cars are horse drawn. No. There will be no dreaming big of electric driverless pods on elevated skyways overhead, uncluttering our largest arsebackward towns. We cannot be first to innovate such an idea, that would put together existing, but new technology.
For Neil:
Chuckle @ 1. Chortle @ 2.
As I keep telling The Minister … people eventually catch up …
Economic managers? Biggest spendthrift government I’ve seen in my lifetime!
I’m finding reb’s links to be hilarious & illuminating.
Let’s face it, if you’ve had a recent terrorist attack to whip up the reactionary base…and you’re still getting raped in the polls, the day before an election…you may want to re-examine what it is you’re trying to sell; and why it isn’t bought.
BREAKING: And now we cross live to Scott Morrison who says Matthew Guy’s election defeat was down to State based issues and not a reflection on the Federal Govt…
The Gutter Trash – bringing you news b4 it actually happens..!
RCR Tomlinson. Not da onions. All boardroom. Big Wreckage.
“you may want to re-examine what it is you’re trying to sell; and why it isn’t bought”
OK Toilet please tell me. In 2007 unemployment was at 4.3% and falling, we were debt free, the budget was in large surplus, our detention centers were empty and the economy was booming. But Australia voted for Rudd
????? “For Neil”
And Jim Chalmers is very deceitful. We were debt free in 2007. Rudd/Gillard started a runaway debt truck. Spending cuts is the only way to stop increasing debt and get the budget back into surplus but Australia does not want to do that. Anytime spending cuts are tried Labor blocks them in the Senate
Thank dog common sense has prevailed and Victoria has re-elected the progressive Andrews Government. There’s just no room for race-based fear-mongering in our harmonious multicultural society and today’s result shows that people have simply had enough of the politics of fear and division. This is a big wake up call for the Federal Govt that ordinary people have simply had enough of their unnecessary scare-mongering, We all know that we’re bigger than that. But will they take heed? I doubt it.
people have simply had enough of the politics of fear and division.
Neels love fear and division!
Gurgle … gurgle!
Predicted 60 of 88 seats! Go Danny!
IBut will they take heed? I doubt it.
I hope not!
Wot reb said @ 9:31pm 24/11/18 !
l totally enjoyed my abc coverage of boltsvilleVote. l particularly enjoyed it when the terms slaughter, wipeout and bloodbath became the descriptions. Equally enjoying was hearing several top-hat, blue ribbon, wentworth-like areas dumped the teabags. l guess `austerity` just doesn`t sound so appealing these days in boltsville. Now we just have to sit back and wonder IF boltsville will manage to hammer throw blib over the line. The teabag panic will be spectacular and l can confidently predict our viewers will enjoy the show.
A party that thinks people like Abbott and Dutton are acceptable will never win enough public support.
Yws, they’re federal, but it is the hateful attitudes that they represent. They are unacceptable in the civilised parts of the country
The size of Daniel Andrews win is a real shock and should have the Feds shitting themselves.
I think 50 to 75% of the 6% swing can be traced back to the Federal LNP. I also think the massive pre polling votes shows that the majority of voters have now switched off and made up their minds already for the next federal election.
If Tony Abbott loses his seat or if it comes under serious threat at the next election, that will prove that aussies are not in favour of the following despite what the LNP parrots.
1) Selling everything off that we used to own and could control
2) Tax cuts at the top while slashing services a the bottom
3) Inequality
4) Fucking around with the ABC
5) Media control by the RWNJ and Murdoch
6) Fear mongering in relation to terrorism and trying to wedge society over it
7) Climate Change is real to most of us and not just latte sipping lefties
8) That Malcolm Turnbull was much more popular than the troglodytes that ousted him with ideology hard right action under pressure from Reinhart, Murdoch and Co.
I am looking forward to the excuses and outright lies and deflection from people such as Jeff Kennett, Mark Latham, Tony Abbott, Scott Morrison, Eric Abetz etc etc who will still shut their eyes and ears and open their mouths and simply say it was nothing to do with any of the above things.
I am so pleased that the Murdoch controlled Media was ignored and actually rebutted by the voters in VIC. Proves that your partisan and determined manipulation of the facts has been rejected.
The swing by the LNP to Tea Party style politics has been rejected. In VIC at least.
“Yws, they’re federal, but it is the hateful attitudes that they represent. They are unacceptable in the civilised parts of the country”
Hateful? Well then tell me what is a nice attitude? It was Rudd/Gillard and their supporters who locked up 50,000 boat people from 2008-2013. Abbott/Dutton did not lock anybody up. Our detention centers were empty in 2007. Howard had solved the problem. We stop the boats and take our refugees from UNHCR camps
Oh dear, how sad, never mind…

A party that thinks people like Abbott and Dutton are acceptable will never win enough public support.
If only that were true, ToM, they were acceptable just a few years ago. One became a fkn prime minister, the other a wannabe pm and they STILL run the roost in the LNP! TOO MANY people supported them (and many still do) … let’s hope the experiment at becoming an arsehole country is fading … I somehow doubt it (they) will ever go away.
I still prefer to live in a society rather than feed the greed in an LNP economy!
The Victorian Election Defeat is BIG news everywhere but here …
https://www.news.com.au/
How telling is that!
I still prefer to live in a society rather than feed the greed in an LNP economy!
I prefer to live in a society without the greed, lies and deceit of the ALP and its supporters. How much free stuff did Dan Andrews promise?
And you need people like Abbot and Dutton. labor will never make the tough decisions to defend our borders and to make spending cuts to bring the budget back into surplus
Abbott and Dutton are arseholes and we don’t need arseholes governing us.
I see there are a couple of funds around to support the ousting of Abbott, I’ll happily donate to them. If there is one for Dutton, I kick in for that too.
Those people aren’t inclined to make “tough” decisions, only bigoted ones
Tom
I suspect you might say that for anyone that makes a hard decision. Arseholes? Why? They secured our borders and stopped locking up children.
For me I would say people who locked up 8,469 children from 2008-2013 are arseholes. That means YOU and anyone who voted for Rudd/Gillard/Swan
No, I’m entirely fine with tough economic decisions, but Dutton and Abbott are divisive bigots, looking to. Mske political capital out of bigotry
Abbott is a goose, and so is Dutton.
My main question is – are they geese or gooses? I don’t know the correct grammar for a multiple of political goose
At the moment I look at Abbot and Dutton as people who make hard decisions which a lot of people do not like. Labor people do not believe in borders
Regarding hard economic decisions we need a 5%-10% cut in govt spending to get the budget back into surplus. There is no other way. But Australia does not want to do that
There is no other way
Ignorance is bliss … or stupidity is blind …
god bless america … and thank god i don’t live there …
there is always a way!
I bet Bolt is pleased with the electoral success now that Turnbull is out!
OK TB how can we get the budget back into surplus without govt spending cuts?
I think Chris Bowen is an intelligent and competent shadow treasurer, he is quite careful to detail expenditure and revenue measures.
The problem with the ALP is that he’s shadow treasurer rather than leader, and Shorten is a duplicitous arsehole
OK TB how can we get the budget back into surplus without govt spending cuts?
Do some research you’ve already been told here at TGT many times … you prefer to waffle LNP propaganda … don’t waste my time …
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I think Chris Bowen is an intelligent and competent shadow treasurer
I agree, I also believe the Shadow Ministry to be more intelligent and competent than the government front bench.
However I see the ToM UnionTaint when it comes to Bill Shorten … what we need is someone who listens to people around the country (not “think” for them) and how that relates to the world … someone who knows how to negotiate on Australia’s behalf with local and overseas neighbours, enemies and friends … bit like a union leader with an extensive background in gaining a fair deal for his constituents, hey?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The landslide win in Victoria actually disturbs me for a few related reasons …
1. The political pendulum has swung way too far left and it will be difficult for an Opposition to gain ground.
2. I’d be pretty sure that some very good Liberal representatives have been “thrown out with the LNP bathwater”
3. And with both of the above … debate in the Victorian parliament will be limited to say the least … bills need to be robustly debated before being passed into statute.
4. It may just have a deleterious affect on the Federal Election (for Labor) if swinging/ex-liberal voters expect a big swing they may attempt to soften it and thus swing the result the wrong way.
5. The Victorian result may just rally members of the LNP and supporters … when they realise that the extreme right wing of their party is causing them so much damage and decide on their own Operation Hummingbird within the Party!
6. And I’ve always been wary of political landslide victories – way to easy for Groupthink to fester in the ranks …
TB
I have done some research. Spending cuts is the only way to get the budget back into surplus
There is no other way
No… Shorten is not the person to do that. He’s a little turd.
Howard was called an unflushable turd, Shorten seems to share that characteristic
the correct grammar for a multiple of political goose? TeamGaggle? (-: You seem to be agreeing with me on rabbit and duttoZombie now`a days. The most fun will be watching the odwyer critter, andrewsZombie and other feds that are from boltsville, the teabag panic must be gushing down their leg by now.
_____
2gb and Limitednews, ha,ha,ha their irrelevance has landed. And my abc24 has said our coldwar geriatric teabag jim molan has abdicated appearing on tomorrows qandaland.
I also believe the Shadow Ministry to be more intelligent and competent than the government front bench.
You’re welcome to “believe” whatever you want TB
I don’t think there’s much in the way of intelligence on either front bench, and certainly (I believe) the ALP’s is remarkably dull
4. “ It may just have a deleterious affect ”
While l don`t rule out boltsville may hammer throw blib over the line at next fedVote, l wouldn`t treat it as a sure thing either. l expect the next jonestownVote to somewhat mimic yesterdays boltsvilleVote bloodbath. After the clowntown talkbull knifing muppet show; wentworth teabag voters and boltsville teabag voters have now dealt out their punishment to team teabag; with jonestown teabag voters punishment still to come. Once this punishment is dealt out to team teabag; the teabagLite and greenz teams will remain `Warringah-ed`, padlocked out of the usual amount seats due to their own toxic policy`s in the two largest seat states; and allow the slomo zombies to trudge over the line in clowntown.
Over at my ABglee everybody seem so cheerful on `national-wrap`, insiderp and breakfast claptrap when reporting on boltsvilleVote. They all seem very distressed pointing out to both state and fed teabags that there may have been a muppet-show effect in the results. They also seem to show a clip of premierDan saying (`don`t promise voters no cuts to this, no cuts to that, no cuts to my abc, then turn around and do the opposite`) a fair bit. l predict the folks at my abc will be in mourning for the next six months until the fedVote. For the time being they have forgot about the jonestownVote due in march, maybe that will cheer them up as everybody else will be enjoying the show for the next six months of solid teabag panic.
(this round of teabag panic will nearly reach the same level theRonald enjoyed)
I guess the nodes and telegraph wires didn`t go down well in boltsville last week!
lol
I hope he doesn’t get better soon
it just keeps getting better.
Or, is this why he is in hiding?
You’re welcome to “believe” whatever you want TB
Thank you so much,ToM …
Dr Norman Abjorensen of the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy has written three books about the Liberal Party and its leaders, and said it had always been “strongly pragmatic”.
“The party entertains and has been happy to accommodate a range of social views,” Dr Abjorensen told news.com.au.
The Liberal party was formed to support business and to reward ambitious entrepreneurs and Dr Abjorensen said moves to define policy on a more ideological basis was a new thing for the party. He said the use of terminology such as “the base” had been influenced by the conservative Tea Party movement in the US.
“This is something new for the Liberal party and is a long way from (former Liberal prime minister Robert) Menzies’s approach. He always accepted people with a range of views, he encouraged it,” Dr Abjorensen said.
Interesting comments for a couple of commenters here …
DrNorman needs to stop lifting my comments and pasting them on Limitednews or there`ll be trouble (-:
Not sure he’d understand your comments, tbagz?
It sounds like premier gladys is expecting a bit of a bloodbath in march and has already asked that clowntown zombies and bus NOT try and help her team in march. Haw,Haw,Haw
ls everybody else as pleased as l am that the bitter`ol coldwar geriatric molan got smoked at his teabag pre selections. He wouldn`t turn up on qandaland last night, and was replaced by abetz.
For those interested in quite a funny video clip; check for clowntown airport doorstops for yesterday; most of the teabags looked shit scared; but jooBish was grinning ear to ear like the cheshire cat.
Not sure he’d understand your comments, tbagz?
I don’t understand?
ls everybody else as pleased as l am that the bitter`ol coldwar geriatric molan
Oh! Yes! Quite cowardly for a conservative ex-general I thought! Thoroughly expected tho’! 🙂
lt just keeps getting better! Julia banks has quit team teabag and gone indy. l`m overdosing on glee!!!
It’s all going really well for the Liberals since they dumped Turnbull
More fun!! The odwyer critter has reported to prime meddler slomo that the electorate see team teabag as homophobic, antiWomen climate deniers. So funny. Not too long ago the odwyer critter was on insiderp telling barrie the opposite.
This’ll have Neel up all night!
https://www.lnp.org.au/lnp-shop/
I notice da-base haven`t turned up for a while, they`re probably curled up under their beds in the fetal position, remote control in hand, listening to comforting reassurances from 2gb and sky after dark.
After enjoying denial based drought and mid winter bushfires in jonesland this year; today teabumpkins across the state are enjoying watching their topsoil wash away in the climate stagnant deluge.
Seems John Howard’s Private School Bullies have finally been lined up for a good caning …
Very poor behaviour from Prefects and Monitors for far too long … but totally expected by this state school lad!
I see reports that we are due to have a surplus next year. That’s good,
Bringing a budget into balance relieves the burden of tax and restraint on the next generation. It provides a buffer and more options in the event of an economic downturn.
An economic stimulus just isn’t even an option if the government is loaded with debt.
Many of those economically ignorant just don’t get the importance of achieving balance in revenue and expenditure – I think the ALP leadership understands this these days, although
many of their barrackers don’t
So why has the National Debt doubled under the Economic Management of the Abbott, Turnbull & Morrison governments?
Maybe we shouldn’t be building all those weapons of war … that would “save” a few bob … maybe we should cull the population … anyone over 70?
Or just get rid of the politicians in Parliament sucking on the teat and put in a business team who actually listened to the people …
And whack all the Canberra treats and goodies for politicians after they are made redundant particularly ex PM’s and Ministers … and we have seven governors’ general and a royal family costing us a fortune …
The list goes on …
And some of the barrackers actually study economics and understand the BS from this government … and its barrackers …
Like younger taxpayers supporting investors with a tax break and then not being able to buy their first home because investors inflate the price in the market. What irony.
Houses are homes for families first … and an investment asset last!
If ALL players in the economy paid their rightful tax the economy would be swimming in it … just think of all that money stolen from financial and banking customers … being used in the economy …
A balanced budget ANYWHERE household, business, nation how much you earn and how much you spend – and where …
As a brother – in – law once told me … when your income is less than your outgo then your downfall will be your upkeep …
Shimples!
Like younger taxpayers supporting investors with a tax break and then not being able to buy their first home because investors inflate the price in the market. What irony.
Yes, but one of my concerns about the ALP policy is that the negative gearing is allowed on new developments – which can only encourage the bulldozing of existing houses, and in heritage areas there has already been too many bulldozed
ToM
I think you would find that the young fully support the heritage areas, it is the developers, the large landholders and conservative governments that pressure a government or council into allowing demolition of heritage buildings. History proves this.
i agree Shane – that is why i think the policy of the ALP is lacking, a young person will see an older place as something to renovate/preserve, whereas a developer will have a tax incentive to bid higher and send is a bulldozer
But that is not a fault of the policy of the ALP it is a fault of the Heritage Laws and Lobbying Groups and developers who take councils and governments to court to achieve their own aims. Stronger legislation would stop the loss of Heritage Buildings, not a policy regarding Negative Gearing. Although I think Negative Gearing should be phased out on investment properties and be phased ion on Owner Occupied properties. That would be better for the young.
But that is not a fault of the policy of the ALP
Shane, it the ALP chooses to give a tax break to people who will bulldoze established houses over those that plan to preserve/restore/renovate – why isn’t it the responsibility of the ALP to address that part of their policy.
It isn’t up to other instrumentalities and governments to figure out how to protect established and heritage housing from this policy.
The ALP is aware that this is a potential consequence of their policy, but they have chosen to ignore it.
I think there is quite enough traditional housing being knocked over without providing this new incentive.
When you say `new-development` yomm, it usually means green-field. Knocking down existing stuff is usually RE-development. Can`t really blame any specific team either, as both teams have bent over for the developers in both jonestown and boltsville and fcuked things up on the city planning front, including all the ugly new stuff put in areas that had great ambiance.
“So why has the National Debt doubled under the Economic Management of the Abbott, Turnbull & Morrison governments?”
Because the Senate blocks any spending cuts. Govt spending cuts is the only way to get the budget back to surplus. Actually it has not doubled yet but is getting close.
Net debt was minus $40B in 2007 ie less than zero. By 2013 debt had increased to $209B. An increase of $249B in just 6 years. And nothing was built with that $249B of debt
It is now at $350B. A increase of $141B since 2013.
And nothing was built with that extra increase in debt
https://theconversation.com/factcheck-has-australias-net-debt-doubled-under-the-current-government-100819
Click to access bp1_bs11.pdf
Table 4 from my link
Net debt in 2007 = minus $40B ie less than zero
Net debt in 2013= $209B
A increase of $249B under Labor. You cannot put a increase under LABOR because it went from negative to positive
Net debt in 2018 = $350B. A increase of $141B since 2013.
But just apologise TB but you never will. We were debt free in 2007. As a person you do nothing but destroy the lives of people like ALL Labor supporters
GFC did not exist … apparently … in tiny worlds …
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-09-01/swan-dont-be-fooled-the-gfc-required-a-strong-response/5710802
And the only reason that the GFC stimulus could be considered is because Australia had such a low level of debt.
In another economic downturn, the stimulus option would be far more restricted given the current level of debt – which began with the ALP and has continued since.
the GFC stimulus could be considered
……………
current level of debt – which began with the ALP
Interesting reading ……………… kinda 😉
It sure is nice watching someone who has survived on murdoch attacking and destroying people for him getting attacked and destroyed by him in turn.
It is entertaining to watch the Liberals eating themselves, all that divisiveness is now being turned on each other.
It’s just a pity that the ALP is the beneficiary
For some reason yomm, yor distress just adds to the icing 😉
Still wanting to be players; team rupert is peddling FakeNews that talkbull is covertly installing phelps and covertly having banks defect. ln reply talkbull “briefly” tweeted psychosis had set in. “It’s just a pity that the ALP is the beneficiary”
ToM, the beneficiary in Wentworth was an Independent. The beneficiary in Indi was an Independent. Defecting MPs are becoming Independents not ALP members.
I think the major beneficiary sadly will be Pauline Hanson and other extremists.
In all of our elections either the LNP or the ALP govern. Did you think it was a pity that the LNP was the beneficiary of the ALP divisiveness of the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd years ?
Who would you like the divisiveness to benefit ?
Wilkie, phelps, bandt, hinch and other indy/s just fronted press to re-open parliament biz with a list of topics; boaties off nauru/ mannis, fed-icac, live-meat and several others. Pushing team stooten to join the indys to get these done before end of year, and over-ride teabags. lt won`t look good for team stooten to reject the indys suggestions.
When it comes to pauline; she has got things done; she has nibbled a few voters off john-w and made him adopt her stop boaties panic and convinced his base that it good to be white.
The show will go on shane, and it always gets good when da-base are reduced to nothing but econoBabble as the panic sets in.
When it comes to pauline; she has got things done;
Do mental homes have wifi?
I think the Liberals benefited from the undermining of Rudd by Gillard and her supporters, and again from the undermining of Gillard by Rudd and his supporters.
Now the ALP is set to benefit from the far more divided Liberals
The AP has always been factionalised and has managed to live with this. The divisions between Rudd and Gillard were primarily based around style and power.
The divisions in the Liberals are more deeply philosophical – so it is a huge rift
hmmm
He talks about the surplus budget the Morrison government has previewed. He won’t talk about how big the surplus is though. Again, it’s worth pointing out that this is a surplus budget, not a budget surplus – the difference being while there will be money left over, largely from increased revenues, when the accounts are all done up for this budget, there is still an overall deficit (the debt).
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2018/nov/29/malcolm-turnbull-accuses-critics-of-paranoia-amid-meddling-claims-politics-live?page=with:block-5bff4940e4b04b34b3e5cdf7#block-5bff4940e4b04b34b3e5cdf7
Is this for real? Have we entered that level of newspeak?
This is not good for the LNP. Seems even their staunchest supporters and members can see the right wing extremism taking over.

Shane
What is a right wing extremist?
I think (in that context) right wing extremists means those whose views would have been regarded as mainstream in the 1960’s
They should regard this as something of a compliment – because religious extremists would be those whose views would have been regarded as mainstream in the 1400’s
Right wing extremists (in the Liberal Party) are relatively contemporary
Someone to the left of you nil
ToM
Right wing extremists are those that want the government and its citizens to own nothing, the wealth to be at the top of the pile, that citizens be subject to user pays in all aspects of their lives, that all profits be privatised but that losses be socialised, that the rich pay less tax and that government cut services to the bottom to achieve that aim, that development trump environment. I could continue to go on ToM but I am sure you are fully and totally aware of what a right wing extremist comprises.
Funny how you mention the 60s when the government owned so many of our assets before they were sold off, when the workforce was highly unionised, when the wealth was much more fairly distributed, when 1 job supported a whole family allowing 1 parent to remain home to care for the children, when the boss didn’t earn 270 times his employee, etc etc
Religious extremists views have always been mainstream of the 1400’s, even the catholic church went backwards in the last 40 years after throwing out vatican 2 which was a modernisation of the church only to have the conservatives undermine and destroy it. I wonder when we will be back to latin on Sundays?
Shane
The main reason 1 job supported a whole family was because women stayed home and looked after the kids. As soon as women entered the workforce there were now 2 people in the household with a job, hence house prices doubled
And left wing extremists want to tax the crap out of people and for the govt to run everything. The more left wing people become the more they rely on the govt and the more dishonest they become. Govt was a much smaller part of society in the 1960’s
Just arrived in my inbox … from “Nick Grenier” (sic)
Ring any bells here! Chortle!
The divisions in the Liberals are more deeply philosophical – so it is a huge rift
That’s what happens in a “broad church” – catholics, CofE, Methodists, Baptists, Orthodox, unorthodox, JWs, Hillsong … they’re all there with their agendas and hands out … or happy clapping …
Yes TB, I suppose you can take a lot of comfort from the fact that all the destabilisation in the more recent history of ALP was only about lust for power and personalities
That’s one perspective Shane.
I think (in that context) right wing extremists means those whose views would have been regarded as mainstream in the 1960’s
Ya’think? Menzies governments were never as right wing as Abbott et al … even the Tories in the UK weren’t quite as RW …
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
As soon as women entered the workforce there were now 2 people in the household with a job, hence house prices doubled ………….. Govt was a much smaller part of society in the 1960’s ….
Yep! They do have wifi in mental homes …
I suppose you can take a lot of comfort …
It comforts me not one iota!
As always it saddens me …
What angers me is the Federal Parliament leaners and their incompetence …
Have you ever wondered why a multimillionaire would want to be a PM? Or just a parliamentarian?
What’s happening to “democracy” is exactly what happened in the USSR … corporate GREED!
And Russia is just another page in the history of greed, corruption, manipulation and the destruction of lives!
The West is heading in the same direction … in 1914 the rich (royalty) and corrupt went to war … and millions died … for what? The only real winners … royalty and the US Corporate world … and it continued …
WWII began because its population was starved after WWI to the point of despair against Europe …
Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and let’s not forget Australia’s foray into hypocrisy … East Timor …
Chaos is good for business … and the LNP want to build weapons to sell to the world – profiteering from misery and death …
Comfort? You have to be fkn joking!
“Menzies governments were never as right wing as Abbott et al … even the Tories in the UK weren’t quite as RW ”
What is right-wing about Abbott and the Coalition? And if they are right-wing, whatever that is why is that worse than left-wing?
ToM
I think it is the only perspective. If you have another feel free to tell me.
Teebz, look harder mate, pauline has forced the duopoly to adopt her boatie policy, NOT the other way around. THEY are her bitch, and da-base are shit scared of her.
The left-wing were in charge from 2008-2013. During this time they locked up 8,469 children. Only sickoes would lock up 8,000 kiddies.
The left-wingers enjoy locking up people
Shane –
Protectionist, overt nationalism/patriotism/racial superiority, yearning for the glorious past, not particularly anchored to a rational economic philosophy…
Trump springs to mind.
Trump springs to mind.
Absolutely agree with that comment, ToM …
Trump is not only a danger to USA’s allies but to the globe!
And the “descriptions” you use are exactly the same as the German National Socialist Party … and similar in some ways to Communism …
People always confuse Socialism and Communism … along with capitalism and democracy … rarely a mention of Command System … that’s why China is Socialist and Russia was Communist … Socialists can utilise either economic system …
GREED is still the problem in the world! It sucks “average” families dry! Leaving them little choice if they are starving!
Why do you think Australia and the USA needed conscription for Vietnam? Who would volunteer for a stupid war between christian bigots and communist bigots? Dumb!
“GREED is still the problem in the world!”
Exactly. That is why people vote ALP/socialist.
Exactly. That is why people vote ALP/socialist.
So, you are greedy? Or a socialist? (the last question is a bit tricky) …
While you’re thinking … here’s a song for you …
Tb
You find out what people believe by what they do not by what they say. I do not care what comes out of your mouth.
Fact is you locked up 8,469 children from 2008-2013. That is all I need to know what you are like as a human being
I see Michelle Gurhrie was in the bottom 4% for leadersip integrity, as assessed by her colleagues at the ABC.
I don’t think any corporate leader would survive if that’s how they are regarded.
ToM
It depends on what colleagues they are talking about. If the colleagues are their peers then no they would not survive, but if the colleagues are their subordinates then they survive through it all. I remember my previous employer holding a survey of all staff being held over the leadership at the time. It was promised in writing that all the results would be provided to the staff, warts and all. The survey was held and it was a real in depth survey of many pages and guess what, No results were or have ever been provided. It was brushed under the carpet because the results were damning on the leadership who presumed we would all love and agree with them and their drive to change a 75 year culture of service to customers, to greed and profit.
That is how dishonest and deceitful management can be.
… and their drive to change a 75 year culture of service to customers, to greed and profit.
Sounds like it worked too, Shane … (re: RC)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
May favourite was a Management Survey (for all managers to complete – I was OHS Mgr at the time for three factory sites) … the survey was confidential, no names no pack drill … I deliberately “missed” two “crucial” questions … the survey came back to me four days later from the Sydney Personnel Manager (I was in Brisbane) … had to chuckle …
Amateurish dicks …
Donald’s threads seem to be unravelling.
Anyone who has read the least bit about Mueller’s storied history, would be well aware of whom the Orange Ignoramus is trifling with.
Of course, no matter how horrendous Trump is proven to be, no matter how profligate his deceptions & deliberate mistruths…it won’t shift any of his rusted ons.
The Law, on the other hand, may catch up with him.
The Law, on the other hand, may catch up with him.
I really hope that’s the case
Mueller, seems to me to be about as straight an arrow as is conceivable.
Trump, is about as loose a cannon as I can imagine, in his position. Too many skeletons, too few closets.
But yes, I am not certain that any amount of reason, evidence or demonstrably abhorrent public behaviour will be enough to bring him down (until he’s out of Office, and can’t issue pardons at will).
Sadly TB it did work, but many of us kept our morals within the new greed and profit industry. The RC needs to look back to the privatisation of the CBA to find the beginning of the toxic culture of bonuses for profit. Sadly the RC seems to be focusing on blaming brokers for the toxic culture that exists, it has obviously been compromised by the big 4 in having a scapegoat to blame other than themselves.
Dunny, ” threads unraveling ” is echo chamber stuff; started by the enemy of the people; and regurgitated in lockstep by global fakenews outlets; ever since theRonald was candidate. The dems and other SaveTheSwampers will not ” bring him down ” as theRonald has successfully rustled and securely corralled the various herds of imbecile that make up da-base for 2020. From what l`ve seen most of the rustbelters will stick with theRonald for 2020 too, tho slightly down from 2016.
lnstead of fretting, learn to enjoy the show. lt will run for another 6-seasons. Viewers should find much comedy in watching our clowntown duopoly backpeddling from aspects of the failed yank blueprint they previously followed in lockstep.
In my opinion Trump is a dishonest areshole. And that probably isn’t just an opinion because there’s plenty of evidence to show it’s a fact.
Peoplee are deeply suspicious of Hilary Clinton but she won the popular vote. Trump is correctly loathed by people in the civilised parts of the US. He’s a misogynist, racist, irrational turd.
But what do you really think of Trump, ToM?
Fake tan and he dyes his hair
After all these years making excuses for corporates, and `now` you fret over the level of `truthiness`. ROFL
Also, Trump’s supporter base appears to comprise misfits and extremists

Just in to my inbox, from the Prime Preacher … I do hope the meedja get off their arses and rip this BS open for what it is …
Just one example …

Talk about deceptive? Misleading? Amateurish marketing … oh, wait. Where the bloody hell are ya, slomo?
Also, Trump’s supporter base appears to comprise misfits and extremists
It really does sound like the Liberal Party, hey?
More like the Clive Palmer supporters
” Trump’s supporter base appears to comprise misfits and extremists”

I am no Patriot, nor Nationalist…but I am soooo fucking glad I was born here (by default).
Fuck that place. (The Orange Gibbon’s Enclosure)
S M E G M A
… but I am soooo fucking glad I was born here
You sound like Prince Charles in an honest moment 🙂
I thank my Mum that she insisted on coming here (always suspected my old man was playing up – again) …
I am a parochial Queenslander! A very Proud Aussie! And love my birthplace and its history – but would never live there. (although its 33C, 70% humidity at 7:00pm!)
On that note …
I just had a phone call from the past … (I arrived here in Jan 1961) …
… last Thursday The Minister (she objected to Leader of the Opposition so I’ve reverted – back-flipped?) took a phone call and the caller, a man, with Yorkshire dialect, tha’ ‘nows, insisted on talking to me … when I answered, he told me his nickname and surname and said, “do you remember me?” Well of course I did … 60 fkn years ago I went to school with him, he lived about ten houses away on the council estate and he was a great friend …
I was flabbergasted … he told me that I had been very hard to find (that’s good!) … I asked him what made him think to find me … as it turned out he’s visiting his nephew in Melbourne … he now lives in the States, and of course, I asked how he ended up there?
I knew his family were from Scotland and he married a Scottish lassie who had a USA passport …
One thing that still bugs me is my question “What made you think of me?” … his reply … “I think about you a lot” … just say that to yourself a couple of times … mmm …
Anyhoo I gave him my email and he has replied very nicely and I replied this morning!
What a weird (and wonderful) world we reside in!

S M E G M A ????? I looked that up ….yuk!
Yes TB, technology now means you don’t have you lose contact with anyone.
Which has plenty of benefits and the enjoyment of reunions… and some that I’d prefer not to become reacquainted with!
And… Trump is exactly what you don’t want in a politician-
* Egotistical
* Vainty overrides judgement
* No core philosophy
* Insane
* Dumb
* Bitter and twisted
* Willing to issue threats
* A c***
… and some that I’d prefer not to become reacquainted with!
Oh! Yeah! 🙂
And… Trump is exactly what you don’t want in a politician-
Pity that describes so many of the buggers, ToM!
ToM
You and I are in total agreeance on Trump.
Howz da global cooling where you are teebz. l been watching the weather on my abc, 40c to 46c degrees from rocky to cairns and bushfires (100s) but they haven`t said anything about the reef; my guess is its getting well poached.

The jonestown voters have the cricket bats out for gladys; she may not be hit for six; but will be smashed for four. Now, talkbull is doing the rounds of the legacy outlets today; trying to convince clowntown call the vote beforehand, thinking it may save gladys. Wrong. (-:

Grass is yellow throughout the suburbs … not a drop of rain in sight!
And Urban Utilities are working across the road water flowing like a river out of the mains they just opened … ironic …
I can feel a drought coming on … however we do have a desal plant (or two) and SE Qld dams are all connected and water able to be pumped back and forth … cost a motza let’s hope it helps …
After the last Labor government, which (sic)* racked up six record deficits totalling $240 billion, fixing the Budget has been difficult.
Shows you how great John Howard was. He was handed a similarly trashed budget in 1996 and was running surplus budgets within 12 months of winning govt. But his spending cuts industrial relations changes caused a Parliament House riot.
Govt spending cuts is the only way to get the budget back to surplus and to stay in surplus but Australia does not want to do that
Waffle all ya`want dummy. Your beloved warcriminal is the imbecile that set the zombies on their path to be slaughtered in march; just as they were slaughtered last week; and may eventually hammer throw blib stooten over the line in may. Just another dud in a whole fcuking string of visionless weak duds at the top. None of which are of any value to nation or citizen.
I am not waffling. Howard got the budget back into surplus after years of large Keating deficits by cutting spending. Howards first surplus was within 12 months of winning govt and unemployment at 8%. Spending cuts is the only wat to have surplus budgets but Australia does not want to do that
And all our current problems were caused by Rudd/Gillard. Looks like Australia wants the ALP back to finish the job of destroying Australia

I’m not sure what you mean TB.
I think you have a number of trite sayings that you use as a generalisation, and all I’m doing is pointing out that they are generalisations that really don’t make much sense.
… that really don’t make much sense.
So why the panic attack?
And once again no answers to my questions … that affect the nation … not your personal issues …
No TB, it’s simply that you display your narrow-mindedness with those trite generalisations.
You don’t ignore the prejudices of others, so I’m sure you don’t mind me pointing out your own.
…and for the record, I’ve said several times here that I didn’t go to a private school, but my kids do and I’m entirely satisfied with the results.
Still not answering my question … and its not a prejudice its just a means of bringing attention to poor behaviour … very much like yours now …
Answer my question … (once again ignored) …
And thanks for the “narrow minded” comment … just another insult … when you don’t get your own way … just like a private school bully does …
You are aware that your comments above actually demonstrate my point? Ooops another question …
Chuckle …
TB, narrow minded isn’t an insult. It’s simply that you use a number of (disparaging) generalisations to portray particular demographic groups within society.
Labor 54% to Liberal 46%
(ToM, lecture some one else … have you ever replied to Neel)
Lecture Neil? There’s already plenty doing that. I’m not joining the queue!

Funny, the pricks, like Howard, who promoted the American(Vietnam) War never turned up in my Nasho Battalion … although looking at him he’d need someone to carry his rifle … once a leaner, always a leaner …
TB
You say Howard promoted the Vietnam war. Do you have any evidence for that? Howard did not enter Parliament until 1974
Trump is exactly what you don’t want in a politician””
Is there a sane person on the planet that would disagree?
Do you have any evidence for that?
Oh! Yes!
You haven’t done your research again … Just wrote the first thing that groped your mind …
“Is there a sane person on the planet that would disagree?”
It’s just that you use a number of (disparaging) generalisations
Zinger!
ToM, I suggest a weekly dose of Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell …
Satire and cynicism so you may not like it! (or understand it)
BTW ToM … here’s the clue …
“” It’s simply that you use a number of (disparaging) generalisations””
“”Trump is exactly what you don’t want in a politician””
Recall my comment about Devil’s Advocate?
About Trump? I thought I was fairly specific about what I detest in him.
On the other hand, according to TB, “private school bullies” don’t even have to be from a private school.
I think it would make more sense if he referred to “school bullies” or “bullies from any educational institution”

Howard did not enter Parliament until 1974. Even if he did promote the Vietnam war he would have been a private citizen with no influence.

Now you are defending private school bullies? FMD!

Neel, did you support the Vietnam War?
TB
You said Howard promoted the Vietnam War. Implying he did this when he was in politics. He did not enter Parliament until 1974. Like most conservatives he supported the war.
As for me I have no idea whether it was right or wrong
“As for me I have no idea whether it was right or wrong”
Quelle surprise!
“I thought I was fairly specific about what I detest in him.”
“It’s simply that you use a number of (disparaging) generalisations”
“Is there a sane person on the planet that would disagree?”
Posted without comment.
As for me I have no idea whether it was right or wrong
IT WAS! And yes you have no idea … about SFA!
Well of course!
Being specifically critical of Trump is the same as making generalisations about various and non specific demographic groups.
That makes sense, if you don’t bother to think about it.
TB
I misunderstood when you said Howard promoted the Vietnam war. I assumed you meant when he was in Parliament in the 1960’s he promoted the war. Howard did not enter Parliament until 1974. He was a private citizen during the 1960’s but did support the war
There was this domino theory around at the time I believe. If the communists took over Vietnam other countries would be next followed by us in Australia.
