Virgin CEO: “Let them all die – I’ve got a business to run here!”

May 18, 2021

Virgin boss Jayne Hrdlicka has announced that Australia’s borders should be flung open far sooner than next year even if it means “some people will die.”

The airline CEO told those attending a business lunch on Monday that Australia risked “being left behind” if it did not reopen borders once an adequate number of Australians had been vaccinated.

“This whole ‘keeping Australians safe thing’ is getting in the way of business profits and the viability of our industry,” she said.

Hrdlicka said it was “a mistake” to think that Australia could keep the virus out “forever”, and said that remaining isolated from the rest of the world posed both a “health and economic risk” to the country.

“I mean, what’s a few dead bodies, if it means the rest of us go to Bali?

“We’re all going to be sicker than we ever have been in the past because we’re not exposed to the viruses and challenges that the rest of the world is dealing with, so we need to get the borders open for our health and the economy,” she said.

“It needs to change so that Covid will become part of the community.”

It’s all very well for Hrdlicka to make these sort of remarks, but it’s incumbent on the airline boss to nominate some specifics, such as “how many deaths are acceptable?”

How many are too few (or too many), and who should be sacrificed first?

I suggest we start with her immediate family.

    Recognise yourself here, Tom R:

Why won’t Israelis let themselves be killed?

The judgement and treatment of Israel by a double standard is one of the most disturbing facets of global politics in the 21st century. That double standard has been glaringly evident over the past few days. Israel is now the only country on Earth that is expected to allow itself to be attacked. To sit back and do nothing as its citizens are pelted with rocks or rockets. How else do we explain so many people’s unwillingness to place the current events in any kind of context, including the context of an avowedly anti-Semitic Islamist movement – Hamas – firing hundreds of missiles into civilian areas in Israel? In this context, to rage solely against Israel, to curse its people and burn its flag because it has sent missiles to destroy Hamas’s firing positions in Gaza, is essentially to say: ‘Why won’t Israelis let themselves be killed?’

“And yet Palestine slowly shrinks as Israel expands …”

    And rightly so!

If in 1948 the Palestinians had accepted the UN peace deal they would now have a much larger state, with Israel reduced to three separate enclaves.

Instead the Palestinians rejected peace and chose the path of terror and war. The neighbouring Arab nations then attempted to invade Israel and drive the Jews into the sea. The Palestinians have used violence to advance their cause ever since. The current outbreak is just more Palestinian terrorism. It is hardly unjust if the aggressors lose some land each time they try to exterminate their neighbour.

The Trump-Pence administration opened the door to a future of peace in the Middle East founded on our strong and unwavering commitment to the state of Israel. But now Israel is enduring the worst outbreak of violence in at least seven years — a direct result of the weakness shown by the Biden administration from its first day in office.

Every tepid statement uttered by the Biden-Harris administration is built on a false equivalency between Israel and Hamas. One is a sovereign nation with a legitimate government, and a trusted ally. The other is an internationally recognized terrorist organization that has fired more than 3,000 rockets at Jewish families and businesses in the past week. There is no moral equivalency between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas. President Biden and every American leader should uphold Israel’s right to self-defense and condemn the terrorists of Hamas — as well as their supporters and apologists — in the strongest possible terms.

A recently resurfaced video from 10 years ago shows Black Lives Matter (BLM) co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who has described herself as a “trained Marxist,” is an apparent fan of communist dictator Mao Zedong, who is responsible for the largest number of deaths in recorded history.

Cullors was one of three founders of BLM. She was recently revealed by the New York Post to own four properties and a mansion in a white neighborhood in Los Angeles, and was described by Chinese netizens as the “American version of Sima Nan.”

Sima Nan, a Chinese pundit and a famous “Wumao,” or paid CCP commentator, is best known for his online support of the CCP and criticism of the United States. When the Chinese public reacted with shock after finding out that Sima and his whole family also live in the United States, he allegedly explained that “Anti-America is my work, staying in America is my life.”

EY legal services address today’s issues and help shape the future with customized and agile strategies that span across the entire legal function.

I suppose this is an example of their strategic thinking:

A $14.2 million damages claim against accounting giant EY over allegations its auditors engaged in fraud and deceit has been further delayed after the firm said it could not file evidence on time as a “key witness” – South Australia managing partner Mark Phelps – had taken a sabbatical to a location unreachable by phone or internet.

Apparently Deloitte is also innovating in the legal strategy space:

In that case, Deloitte partner Reuben Saayman allegedly hid audit documents about collapsed construction company Hastie somewhere not “on any Deloitte premises nor a location controlled and accessible by Deloitte partners or staff”.

When the firm was ordered to produce the documents, it claimed, in addition to other legal protections, that it did not know where Mr Saayman had put them or the password with which he had encrypted digital versions.

Every one of those deaths, on both sides, is at the hands of Hamas who initiated pleasantries by sending thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians, every one a war crime.

If you look at the numbers and stop thinking there then you will write an idiot comment like the one above.

If you look at the way the two sides behaved you will see one side targeting civilians and the other warning civilians to get out of the way of missiles aimed at military targets.

Hamas knew at the start what the outcome would be. Why would the weaker side attack the stronger by trying to murder its civilians? It was a publicity stunt at the behest of Iran.

Only racists and cretins blame Israel for defending itself. Any normal decent person watching on knows that the war crimes are overwhelmingly on the Palestinian side and the ultimate responsibility for the situation rests with Hamas.

Actually, he said ‘not convinced’. Seems he’s still quite confident.

Basically, he is saying what the UN panel said. It’s highly likely it evolved normally, but they need more time to prove that definitively

Certainly, the people who investigated it say it likely was the emergence from an animal reservoir that then infected individuals, but it could have been something else, and we need to find that out.

Fauci has been on all sides of every issue in this shambles. Saying he is “not convinced” is actually a significant change from his previous pronouncements: Fauci: The Virus Was Not Made In a Lab, You Idiots

We would all like to get to the bottom of this but the Chinese government is withholding data from the investigators:

Members of the joint study visited the lab at the center of the leak hypothesis, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, on Feb. 3, but did not obtain access to data.

The letter also highlights statements made by the director general of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, after the joint study’s findings were released on March 30. Ghebreyesus concluded that the assessment of the laboratory leak was not extensive enough and said the team had trouble accessing raw data in Wuhan.

Same goes with the naming of those within the pmo who (allegedly) backgrounded.against Higgins partner. Prove it before naming them.

There are many ways Mr Morrison deploys his falsehoods, but the most common come under four threads.

I mean, just how many ways ARE there to lie?

    Another depth plumbed

    https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/2021/05/26/brittany-higgins-backgrounding

Brittany Higgins was apparently blindsided by the release of “malicious” content within a report that cleared the Prime Minister’s staff of running a background smear campaign against her partner.

On Tuesday afternoon, Scott Morrison tabled in Parliament House the report from his chief of staff, John Kunkel, into claims that members of the PM’s office had given negative information about Ms Higgins’ partner, David Sharaz, to journalists.

Dr Kunkel found there was not enough evidence to confirm the ‘backgrounding’ allegations.

But Labor is outraged the report publicised the very same “malicious gossip” that was the subject of that alleged activity.

“It reads like an exercise in professional smear,” Labor senator Katy Gallagher claimed on Tuesday afternoon.

The New Daily has also been told Ms Higgins wasn’t informed in advance of the report’s release, and wasn’t told parts of her interview would be publicly detailed in the report.

And to prove the point …

    https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/2021/05/26/afp-war-crimes-taskforce-boss/

The head of a special taskforce overseeing federal police investigations of alleged Australian war crimes in Afghanistan is believed to have left his position within months of being appointed last year.

The photo tells you that that Currie is ex-ADF.

Mr Moraitis revealed the OSI now had 28 full-time staff, while engaging other lawyers from the Australian Government Solicitor and was training another 24 investigators and analysts.

“As we go forward we’ll have arrangements and protocols, whereby we will be working seamlessly with the AFP,” he told senators.

    Hastily cobbled together?

“Training … investigators … analysts?” “arrangements and protocols … as we go forward”?

Doctor Carrie McDougall from the University of Melbourne Law School says authorities appear to be realising just how difficult it will be to investigate historic war crime allegations in a foreign jurisdiction.

“I think we can expect this investigation to get more and more complicated and to take even longer than was originally anticipated,” she said.

But Rupert’s Regurgitators know all the answers NOW!

You should get a job with the daily hail. Or do you already have one?

No evidence has ever been found that security guards had sex with quarantine detainees, despite a claim by the Herald Sun that was repeated by journalists who should know better. The hotel quarantine inquiry made clear that it didn’t happen, but no media outlet has published a correction.

    Highly infectious variant.

    Yeah, probably not.

[A]n infectious diseases physician at St Vincent’s hospital in Sydney, Prof Greg Dore, who is running a study looking at long-haul Covid patients, said the Kappa variant was acting “the same as we’ve seen before” with other variants in Australia.

“There just isn’t any strong evidence this variant is more efficiently transmitted than previous variants,” said Dore, who is also a clinical researcher with the Kirby Institute … There’s nothing different in terms of how this virus is being transmitted in Melbourne right now.”
