Living next door to Gladys

August 27, 2021

In case you haven’t noticed yet, the Coronavirus is now running ‘out of control’ across New South Wales.

However you wouldn’t know it from the press conferences attended by the Premier for New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian, the Deputy Premier John Barilaro, Minister for Health Brad Hazzard and the Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant.

Today, Gladys was decidedly upbeat declaring she was ‘super excited’ with the numbers, announcing 882 cases and 2 deaths in the past 24 hours.

“Pleasingly,” she said five times within five minutes, this was not an absolute fuck-up of momentous proportions as we might be inclined to believe, but rather a cause for celebration, as schools will begin to re-open from October 25.

This may be great news for parents bemoaning the burden of home-schooling. Not so good for the two people who died overnight.

Scott Morrison has been similarly upbeat and consistent with his messaging declaring that lockdowns were an abomination when Melbourne was impacted, then a necessary and effective strategy when Sydney went into lockdown, but now an abomination again.

It’s hard to keep up.

One thing is for sure though. This has been an unmitigated fkn disaster and it’s entirely due to the incompetence of Morrison and Berejiklian.

    Yeah!
4000 people in Australia died of the flu in 2018. We need to lockdown every year
We need to ban alcohol, because about 6000 people die each year from alcohol related causes
We need to have a speed limit of 25 km/hr because speed kills. We know that.
Tobacco of course is banned, that goes without even needing any data
Several people were killed by sharks last year. They’re goners. Dead sharks to save humans!0

Lockdowns are not sustainable, we can’t rely on random lockdowns of unknown duration as a strategy
In Victoria, people are ignoring or avoiding the restrictions and no wonder after 6 lockdowns, 7 months of hard lockdown, months of curfew

Apparently Dan Andrews told a white lie

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9946005/The-real-reason-Dan-Andrews-closed-playgrounds-kids-spreading-Covid.html

The truth is finally out. Playgrounds were shut down to punish the parents, not because kids were spreading Covid.

Victorian children who have spent months living in fear of becoming infected at their local playground have finally been told there was no real evidence they were going to catch Covid-19 playing on the swings.

In a stunning admission sure to enrage Melbourne families, Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton admitted on Wednesday the parks were banned for the last month to get at parents.

    oooh, a ‘stunning’ admission.

Last Monday Professor Sutton explained the rationale for the decision to close playgrounds and other outdoor recreation areas.

‘There have been instances where parents supervising children at playgrounds were sitting down, drinking coffee and not wearing masks or social distancing,’ he said.

The article I linked to was written weeks before that piece, by the same shit sheet, and it has the Government clearly stating that one of the main concerns for playgrounds was that parents were mingling, leading to transmission.

I mean, they can then, weeks later, cherry pick another comment and pretend that was all that was said. Unfortunately, they had actually reported on the other aspects of the reasoning back when the decision was made.

TB, be fair. Palaszczuk was the one politicising the matter. Ranting on about 12 year olds dying is not based on any scientific or medical reasoning. It was scare-mongering at its finest. Almost as bad as when Mongrel Young demonised AZ. That will cause deaths by creating unnecessary fear. I had to work hard and go through the numbers to convince some of my younger ones that they were much better off with AZ than with nothing.

And the government of South Australia, one of the country’s six states, developed and is now testing an app as Orwellian as any in the free world to enforce its quarantine rules. People in South Australia will be forced to download an app that combines facial recognition and geolocation. The state will text them at random times, and thereafter they will have 15 minutes to take a picture of their face in the location where they are supposed to be. Should they fail, the local police department will be sent to follow up in person. “We don’t tell them how often or when, on a random basis they have to reply within 15 minutes,” Premier Steven Marshall explained. “I think every South Australian should feel pretty proud that we are the national pilot for the home-based quarantine app.”

As he licks his semen off his fevered hands and feels the thrill of godlike power coursing through his being, Stairman Dan decrees that the unvaccinated won’t receive medical treatment:

‘To protect the health system, we’ve got everybody locked down, and we’re going to move to a situation where to protect the health system we’re going to LOCK OUT people who are not vaccinated. If you’re making the choice not to get vaccinated, then you’re making the wrong choice.”

So if you have a condition that prevents vaccination or if you’ve already had covid and have better natural immunity than vaccination brings or if, like me you spent 4 days in hospital with a reaction to AV and are waiting for the immunologists to decide* about a second shot then you can’t see a doctor any more.

It’s a shame the old groper wasn’t beaten to death!

They also told me yesterday that even if the current tests allow for a second shot it will not be AZ and therefore I will not be eligible for a vaccine “passport” as having a different vaccine doesn’t satisfy the criteria for being double vaxxed. Go figure.

I have heard that download speeds can depend on windspeed and dust in the air or something like that with fixed wireless. And i guess it works on the 4G network. When 5G comes in speeds could be 10-100 times faster. If true it could wipe out the NBN

    Did WA get it right?

Would you be asking that question if the Coalition was running WA?? I have noticed that what is right or wrong for Labor supporters depends on who is in power

    TB

I am wondering why you are mocking TPGs wireless alternative to the NBN?? I called it fixed wireless but that is wrong. It is mobile broadband. They are similar technologies but not the same. I guess it uses the 4G network.

For $49.99/month i get unlimited downloads with mobile broadband compared to the 100GB NBN12 plan i am now on. And it is not really 100GB. It is 50GB from 8.30AM to 2.30AM and another 50GB for the 6 hours from 2.30AM to 8.30AM. I never use the 50GB from 2.30AM to 8.30AM.

I am really thinking of ditching the NBN and going with TPGs wireless broadband. What do you think??

    <i<"Did WA get it right?'

When it comes to the economy WA is in a very good place. And not may have died of Covid.

TB, I don’t like him much but good results should be recognised. So much better than the alternative.

Since TB does not want to answer i wonder if somebody else does?? This is TPGs new home wireless service

    https://www.tpg.com.au/home-wireless-broadband

Since i am an existing customer i can get unlimited downloads for $49.99/month and in theory faster speeds than i get with TPGs NBN12 plan.

I have heard that home wireless is affected by wind, dust, how many people online etc. But it seems better for me than the NBN
