John Barilaro has been named as a witness who will appear at the ICAC inquiry into the conduct of former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
It’s only day one and already there’s damning evidence against Gladys.
ICAC hears the submission for funding for Wagga’s Clay Target Association was prepared in a day, which was ‘unusual’.
There was ‘no risk analysis’ and an economic analysis that ‘didn’t stack up’. It was to attract ‘international tourism’ – ‘one event every 12 years’ that didn’t even have shooting as part of its program.
Sports Director Michael Toohey says “a purported business case” was attached to an email on potential for funding for Wagga’s Australian Clay Target Association.
“There wasn’t a project plan, nothing to substantiate the cost, it didn’t stack up.”
The things we do for love!
The NSW ministerial code of conduct definition of a family member includes “any person with whom the minister is in an intimate personal relationship”. Apparently rooting Maguire for five years doesn’t qualify as “intimate”.
Gladys is doubtless relying on the “bag defence” i.e. the relationship can’t be intimate if he had to put a bag over her head to prevent total loss of erectile function. Actually, that probably cuts both ways.
Didn’t you spell IBAC wrong reb?
“I didn’t know. I was in shock. I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t have enough detail, I hadn’t read what was happening. I can’t remember what I thought at that time.”
Sounds legit. 🙄
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-18/gladys-berejiklian-did-not-suspect-daryl-maguire-of-corruption/100547024
“I’m not asking whether you were sure”
Gladys “I didn’t know”
“I’m not asking whether you knew”
Gladys “I didn’t know … I can’t remember”
“Did you suspect”
Gladys “I didn’t know”
“I’m not asking whether you knew”
Gladys “I didn’t know”
If she didn’t know, why was she in shock?
If she didn’t know, why did she ask him to resign…??
The power couples “Dear John” letter 😉
Gladys should just keep using the standard Daniel Andrews answer from the Coate Hotel Quarantine Inquiry: “I don’t recall” or “I can’t remember”.

Thieving Mongrel Miliagn steals $150,000 from taxpayers:
Thieving Mongrel Miliagn ….. ?????
Probably because no politician has been thin skinned enough to sue before
Awks
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet as Treasurer was responsible for the $5.5 million Wagga Wagga gun club grant, which was green-stamped despite it being “unusual” and the NSW Office of Sport not wanting “any involvement” in the project, according to internal government emails.
https://www.theklaxon.com.au/home/1-gaxaw
ABC: we can’t control what Mongrel Miligan tweets on her personal twitter account..
Also ABC: if Mongrel Miligan defames someone we will spend the public’s money defending her.
Fucking thieves – the ABC is just a vehicle for theft of public funds to advance left-wing causes.
The ABC would not spend money like that to support a conservative journalist but that issue is moot given that they do not employ any conservative journalists and never will so long as the current cabal of leftist lunatics controls the place.
This is gold…!
Gladys is finished!!
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
“At very least, lets target our marginal seats” ???
I know….! They’re not even embarrassed to broadcast it.
It’s a wonder they didn’t use the money for branch stacking!
“At very least, lets target our marginal seats”
The Coalition is not good at rorting. You need to be deceitful. That is why Labor gets away with it. They cover their tracks better.
But what is going on?? Nigel Blunden seems to think the shooting centre is a waste of money. So he says why spend $5.5M in a safe Coalition seat? Lets target a Labor marginal seat instead. Perhaps said in jest??
So if the Coalition is spending money in a safe Coalition seat is their any rorting going on?? Perhaps there was some financial benefit for Gladys’s boyfriend???
ICAC seems to be doing a good job getting to the bottom of this. Unlike the Mongrel Coate charade I suspect we are going to know who made the relevant decisions here.
My only beef with ICAC is that they haven’t released the sex tape of Gladys and her beau.
Leak

Gladys is finished!!
Ya reckon? 🙄

LOL! ICAC seems to be doing a good job getting to the bottom of this.
Your area of expertise, splatterbottom
(Had to explain it ib case other folk read it – no names)
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Finally – just how stupid (arrogant – ill informed – un-researched) are right wing American shock jocks?
https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/tv/conservative-host-candace-owens-calls-for-us-to-invade-australia-to-free-people-from-tyranny/news-story/9a487acac0dbafefaa0945d2aa7284cc
I guess the same as Aussie RW shock jocks … (don’t know of any left wing shock jocks)
I say there’s a gap in the market for some left wing shock jocks, can you imagine…
“Have you seen the price of Zig Zags lately…? It’s a fkn disgrace…!”
“But next up on the show, we’ll be interviewing Sharon from Deniliquin who’s turned her macrame making tea-cosy pastime into a loss-making home-based business serving the local air B&B industry.”
“So Sharon, tell us – what’s the secret to your mediocrity?”
(Actually, this could easily be the Prue Goward hour)..
What is the allegation here?? Sounds like the Coalition are pork barreling their own seats.
Normally the allegation is they are targeting marginal ALP seats. But Wagga is a safe Coalition seat.
So is the allegation they wasted taxpayers money?? If so that is normal for any govt.
Governments spend their own money. All legally acquired and allocated. To suggest otherwise indicates no understanding of ‘tense’ plus ignorance of Sections 81 and 83 of the Constitution.
But the mentally challenged need their security blankets apparently.
All legally acquired and allocated.
That’s the gnarly bit right there 😉
“All legally acquired and allocated.”
From whom?
Like the Soviet government legally acquired all private property?
And was robodebt legally acquired or stolen from terrorised students?
And was robodebt legally acquired or stolen from terrorised students?
The class action result showed it was the latter 😉

Maguire says he loved Berejiklian and she loved him. They stayed at both their houses; Maguire had a key to Berejiklian’s house. They went on holidays together. They contemplated marriage and having a child together. They were intimate…
Is there anything more unappealing as a mental image than amorous politicians?
“They contemplated marriage and having a child together. They were intimate…”
I still think Gerbiliklian’s best shot is the bag defence.
“Is there anything more unappealing as a mental image than amorous politicians?”
I’d like to see George Christensen nude jelly wrestling with Clive Palmer!
Yes, but that’s already a ticketed event in Manila
“I’ll throw money at Wagga, don’t you worry about that,” Gladys is heard saying to Maguire on July 30, 2018.
He also complains that Wagga needs a stadium but it’s not getting it. Gladys says she can overrule the bureaucrats.
“Glad” to see such passionate support for rural NSW. A good root will bring that out in a person – inspire them to overrule bureaucrats even.
“don’t you worry about that,”
That was Jo Bonkers-Bananas’ favourite phrase.
“A good root will bring that out in a person – inspire them to overrule bureaucrats even.”
LOL..
It’s Gladys’s turn to appear tomorrow. There’s not enough popcorn in the world for that one.. Today was entertaining enough with Daryl under the microscope.
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
I wonder if Gladys does Long Bay Booty Call!
Gerbiliklian: “What I’m saying to you Mr Robertson is that every colleague has a different style and way of advocating …”
“If you look after the Wagga Shooters I’ll see you right with some hard doggy topped off with a Dirty Sanchez and a golden shower to clean you up!”
Gerbiliklian: “…… and certainly all of my colleagues would have felt like they had access to me.”
Gerbiliklian: “I would like all members of the party room to know that all of you have access to me on the same basis. Grants will be awarded on the basis of length, girth, vigour and oral skills. Women members feel free to go full Mary Strapons with me. No bags allowed”
So far Gladys has blabbing…
“I doubt I would’ve paid much attention”
“I wasn’t listening”
“It didn’t cross my mind”
“I would have disregarded it”
“I would have dismissed it”
“I wouldn’t have taken it seriously”
she’s really fucked if this is the defense she’s relying on
“They could be taping my conversation with you right now, and you wouldn’t fucking know.”
– Daryl Maguire on a recorded conversation with Gladys played at ICAC.
We get the level of corruption we demand. Yet some are surprised.
Phone intercept 1096 between Gladys and Daryl…
Exhibit 320 *language warning*
Maguire: “They’ve invited all these people to shake hands and suck dicks. They’re all that fucking shit scared of me now. Fuck them. They can get fucked. They better get off their fat arses and make something happen. “
I hate these he said she said things. I do not have the time to study things like that.
So what is the crime Gladys is accused of? Sounds like she let her heart rule her brain and got some money for a corrupt politician. So what is new??
The thing with Coalition corruption is that they never get away with it and something good usually comes out of it. So Wagga got a $5M rifle club against Public Service advice??
The difference between Coalition corruption and Labor corruption is that something good comes out of Coalition corruption and nothing good comes out of Labor corruption.
Apparently Macron chided Morrison about trust. Maybe someone should ask him exactly how many French youths have died defending Australia
Maybe someone should ask him … etc
Ya think Aussie youths “defended France” … I think you’ll find Australians simply fought against the right wing German tyranny like everyone else in WW2
WW1 the Aussies were stuck in trenches – they just happened to be in France …
The issue here is Morrison’s sloppy approach to alliances, business and leadership, oh, and marketing …
Bit like asking your mate to build a house and then another mate comes along and you sign a new contract one midnight (without telling anyone) for them to build the house when the foundations are laid … its about a contract agreement – not fkn soldiering in France … even though the original sub contract was fkn stupid Scotty again … balls up after balls up Morrison has managed to trash our reputation around the world in three years … what a fkn record …
Our oil fuel supplies are “stored” in the USA … now the nuke subs will have their fuel stored in the USA … bit like Pommieland in the wars you mentioned … stupid is as stupid does …
an impressively towering memorial was established at the top of the Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery to honour the Australian soldiers who fell in France
The cemetery contains 2,000 graves, of which 779 are Australian.
Fact is – ICACs castrate potent elected Members.
Joh (without an ICAC) established an instant School (demountable classrooms delivered within days) which then provided employment for his teacher daughter-in-law. Oh how the locals cheered.
Joan Sheldon (Liberal, Deputy Premier and Treasurer) shocked everyone including Premier Borbidge by paying out a toll road contract in her Budget so that her constituents could travel free of charge. Now there’s an annual celebration.
Speaker Kev Lingard announced a brand new High School for Mount Tamborine which completely blindsided his Education Minister colleague and a whole Department. He now has the key to the mountain.
Imagine what Gladys and her government might have achieved without an ICAC. Sadly she’s been cut down in her prime.
No wonder other administrations are hesitant.
“Fact is – ICACs castrate potent elected Members.”
And IBACs?
The next King of Australia:
“They could be taping my conversation with you right now, and you wouldn’t fucking know.”
That statement shows there is no privacy in this world anymore. Not sure how moral it is to be recording someones phone calls without their knowledge. Sometimes you may say something but not mean it.
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js
“Imagine what Gladys and her government might have achieved without an ICAC. Sadly she’s been cut down in her prime.”
This is true. She managed to find a quick $140 million (or was it $170 million?) for a Conservatorium of Music when Daryl cracked the shits. If she hadn’t “been cut down in her prime knows what they could’ve achieved, an Opera House for Wagga, a Harbour bridge for Wagga maybe…..??
This whole “being held accountable” nonsense is just so unfair.
Maybe someone should ask him exactly how many French youths have died defending Australia
That is nil level stupid yomm. But I’ve come to expect it of you lately 😦
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadliest_single_days_of_World_War_I#Western_Front
This whole “being held accountable” nonsense is just so unfair.
Isn’t it wholly dependent on which political party you are with?
You mean they breathalyzed Tim Smith? WTF? Oh, I get it he’s not married to the Stariman, not ALP and this is Victoria!
So, Macron has called our pm a liar on the international stage. Can it get worst?
Probably 😦
I’m not sure how Dan Andrews is going to explain THIS away!
It’s interesting that “teh left” are red hot for showing ID for going to a shop or a restaurant, but so vehemently against showing ID for voting
Tom why do you dislike Aborigines and want to keep them from voting?
“So, Macron has called our pm a liar on the international stage. Can it get worst?”
Macron is facing a tough election so he his playing macho man to Morrison and other world leaders.
Decent thoughtful Australians would at least wait for some details of the alleged “lie” before rushing to side with Macron. Mongrels more interested in cheap political advantage will cash in. They did it last time when the lying Frog Ambassador falsely accused us. They got egg on their faces then but they just keep on trolling. No wonder people hate politics and the vacuous drones (on both sides) who can’t think beyond today’s talking points.
Dianne why do you want election fraud?
Or, why do you dislike Aborigines and want to keep them from eating?
Really Dianne, I’m sure that with allthe regulations now around covid, vaccination, welfare, tax, employment etc, there is no particular demographic that doesn’t have ample id
I don’t see anyone saying the covid restrictions are preventing indigenous people from going to the shop
It’s interesting that “teh left” are red hot for showing ID for going to a shop or a restaurant, but so vehemently against showing ID for voting
One is for health concerns, the other is deny people their rights.
Dianne why do you want election fraud?
Are you able to show the details of how big an issue voter fraud is in this cuntry?
A helpful ….. what’s the word I’m looking for here yomm? Either way, hope it helps splats 😉
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-28/voter-id-laws-to-require-proof-could-disenfranchise-vulnerable/100575812
“health concerns”
lol
That is TB level stupid. But I’ve come to expect it of you lately
It works when it’s correct yomm, it just sounds like another level of stupid when you copy it 😉
btw, that other comment about the French WAS extremely stupid, especially when you consider the sacrifices they had already made when we got there
The ALP ‘vote early, vote often’ election strategy is to blame. If they weren’t such a bunch of crooks we wouldn’t need these laws. Seriously, a mob who is happy to steal public resources for branch-stacking has no compunction about stealing elections. No wonder they oppose measures to limit their election fraud.
So, you got nothing have ya splats, except more meaningless drivel shit
At some point there will be a very close election, and a couple of seats will be decided by a handful of votes.
Tom R would prefer to wait until everyone is blaming each other for voter fraud or irregularities, and disputing the result
And…it’s entertaining that Tom R thinks being compared to TB is disparagement!
“So, you got nothing”
You’re the one catastrophising the commonplace requirement of ID. Quoting various Labor stooges in support doesn’t prove anything.
At some point there will be a very close election
You mean, like the one Gillard beat abbott in? That one? That they took weeks to decide on?
And seats are often recounted, it happened last election. It’s never been a problem, but I get the feeling there is going to be an uptick this time around 😉
it’s entertaining that Tom R thinks being compared to TB is disparagement!
It’s just plain dumb when you copy everything but one word, and think that’s what I’m talking about. [facepalm]
You’re the one catastrophising the commonplace requirement of ID
No I’m not, experts in the field are. (pro tip, the text that is a different colour, that’s underlined on hover, you can click it)
“Tom R thinks being compared to TB is disparagement!”
He does have a point.
Tom R knows he is trolling and is a master of the art. TB appears to genuinely believe the garbage he spouts and is totally unwilling to admit even the most ridiculous mistakes he makes.
In a sense they represent different types of ALP shill. Tom R is a slippery troll never telling more than half the truth. TB, on the other hand, is a pompous old curmudgeon slowly slipping into senility.
“experts” Well that proves it, doesn’t it?
“experts” Well that proves it, doesn’t it?
No, but it carries more weight than some angry old fart typing shit on a keyboard in his diapers
This is a fair question
A better one is, why didn’t we just make them here, but …. Unions = BOO!
I have no real opinion on whether we need ID to vote but i find it strange the ALP/Greens are against ID for voting. That makes me think they know it would be bad for Labor if ID was needed
No” My point exactly.
“This is a fair question”
It’s not a question. It is a very stupid statement from one of our most unlovely politicians. It is also about another stupid and unlovely politician, the vain old cat-strangler who got us into this mess in the first place merely to save the mincing poodle’s arse.
No” My point exactly.
You had a point?
It is a very stupid statement
Why?
“Why?”
It was typical Oakshott – shallow ramblings of a delusional narcissist. He could have offered some reflection on whether it was a good decision in the first place, whether the French were on time and within budget to deliver the subs or whether they had serious technical difficulties or whether the circumstances had changed and whether those subs were still the best option for Australia.
It’s the science…..
He could have offered some reflection on whether it was a good decision in the first place
I think you’ll find he was pretty vocally against it.
But that doesn’t change the question. The other points you raise ‘may’ provide a clue, but nobody has answered it. And, considering the ‘mericans have been proven to worst than the French were at keeping to times and costs, it kinda makes them moot.
In fact, the best ones for time and cost were …. ours
So. Why?
Tom R, it seems to me that the new alliance is probably a good thing given the rise of aggressive Chinese imperialism. I don’t think we should be getting subs at all but, unless we are prepared to develop our own defence system, we will have to compromise to gain an alliance with friendly countries.
we will have to compromise to gain an alliance with friendly countries.
Even if it means pissing off another ally? (and quite possibly the very one we are trying to ingratiate ourselves with?)
“Even if it means pissing off another ally? “
Yeah – that choice was fairly clear-cut.
The French were never going to take this well. I doubt Morrison lied to them but he was probably guarded pending finalisation of the details of the AUKUS alliance. At this stage we don’t know what was said.
The French were never going to take this well
Breaking up is hard to do, especially with tact and grace, something this mob don’t even believe in.
At this stage we don’t know what was said.
Yes we do, and we also know what wasn’t said. They said there were. Funnily enough, the issue was around our specifications, not the French. We also know that we did not advise them that we were cancelling the contract.
This also leaves us wide open to reparations
“Yes we do”
Quote it then.
Quote it then.
“Should I expect good or bad news for our joint submarine ambitions?,’’
That’s a question from somebody in the dark, who is smelling a rat.
https://www.news.com.au/technology/innovation/emmanuel-macron-has-accused-scott-morrison-of-leaking-private-texts/news-story/3a00d15df814b821d3bbcc0149cbe915
That is a quote from Macron, not a lie from Morrison.
Your link noted that the released text undermined the old Granny-fucker’s claim that Morrison lied to him.
That is a quote from Macron, not a lie from Morrison.
Yes, so what. It’s all we’ve got. If morrison had told him, why not release that, instead of leaking private messages from someone smelling a rat?
Your link noted that the released text undermined the old Granny-fucker’s claim that Morrison lied to him.
How? It confirms that he knew something was up, but until we hear something different, it’s just guess from Macrons end, who was looking for confirmation, but wasn’t receiving any.
You think a deal like morrison was doing wouldn’t have got back, in dome form, to the French?
The question, the lie, is, did morrison tell him they were cancelling, not did Macron smell a rat.
The guy just cannot stop lying. He tries to defend his lying, by lying that Macron called Australians liars, not him. Macron very pointedly called morrison a liar, not us.
We’re just the dumb fucks that voted the lying prick in
And haven’t the French been helpful in our region!
And haven’t the French been helpful in our region!
That’s a wonderfully meaningless statement yomm. Perhaps you need some …. links 🙂
https://www.dfat.gov.au/geo/france/france-country-brief
Anyone worked out who hacked morrisons phone yet?
Yes, letting off nuclear bombs, Vanuatu uprising, Rainbow Warrior.
France singlehandedly made New Zealand into its enemy
New Caledonia uprising
Yor defense of morrison lying to a world leader is ‘which cuntry is the biggest asshole’
Not sure that’s a road you want to head down to be honest 😉
#LiarFromTheShire has morphed into #DiplomaticDisaster
I’m suggesting that a little perspective is required before we do too much handwriting about French sensitivities
Macron tells bald-faced lie about Morrison. Transcript outing the Granny-fucking frog as the actual liar in all this becomes public.
Leftist cunts everywhere melt down. Bwahahahaha!
Macron tells bald-faced lie about Morrison
What lie?
We all know now that morrison never did tell Macron he was cancelling the deal before he announced the US one. What lie did Macron say?
I’m suggesting that a little perspective is required
morrison snuck around behind Macrons back arranging another deal, while continuing to have the French invest time and dollars into getting what they thought Australia wanted.
Is that perspective enough?
“I don’t think, I know.”
“morrison snuck around behind Macrons back arranging another deal”
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Who ever heard of alliances being negotiated in private by the prospective partners! What a fanciful idea!
I haven’t seen this much faux outrage since Keating called Mongrel Mahathir ‘recalcitrant’.
“I don’t think, I know.”
Even the texts morrison leaked (from private conversations mind you) show that Macron is correct. He clearly didn’t know what was going , but knew that something was.
Who ever heard of alliances being negotiated in private by the prospective partners!
We could have negotiated them in private with the US, but we should have told France that we were cancelling theirs
They found out via the US/\aus announcement. That’s just inept, and abusive to our relationship with them.
Yeah! The French were late and costly/over budget outmoded equipment
No wonder they were surprised! What on earth possessed Australia to look elsewhere!
And particularly France, with their rich history of flawless diplomacy
Yeah! The French were late and costly/over budget outmoded equipment
They were our specifications ffs ROFL
And, we could have cancelled for ANY of those reasons.
we didn’t, we cancelled because we saw something else whiny and new
This paints a terrible picture
On the same day that the French submarine deal collapsed, the Defence Department sent Naval Group a letter saying it was satisfied with the company’s performance. To cap it off, Gillian Bird, Australia’s ambassador to France, stressed the decision to axe Naval Group “in no way reflects on the powers of the Naval Group and the French defence industry, which are recognised worldwide as market leaders”.
These public statements at the time rang hollow because anyone even remotely plugged into Canberra knew Morrison and Defence Minister Peter Dutton were increasingly worried about the company’s performance. But the government went ahead and told the public the opposite.
We don’t know what the apparent problems with Naval Group were because Morrison and Dutton haven’t really said. What we do know is that at Senate estimates last week, Rear Admiral Gregory Sammut said the program had not suffered any cost blowouts. He also said Naval Group had presented an affordable and acceptable offer to proceed to the next phase of the design contract.
https://www.smh.com.au/world/europe/slurs-lies-and-sledges-is-macron-or-morrison-telling-the-whole-story-20211102-p5953y.html
And
Instead, Morrison’s explosive September 16 move, which blindsided France, means Australia has exercised a “termination for convenience” clause – in a move which is expected to cost Australia hundreds of millions of dollars more in additional fees, charges and penalties.
Termination for convenience clauses are common in construction contracts, however they are infrequently used because they expose the terminating party to large costs and damages.
Morrison’s decision to sensationally blind-side France, rather than exit the deal contractually over ongoing delivery failures, is set to be heavily exploited by Naval Group which has indicated it will aggressively pursue compensation.
https://www.theklaxon.com.au/home/pms-naive-sub-deal-bungling-to-cost-dearly
“He clearly didn’t know what was going”
Clearly.
Your faux outrage is hilarious.
It’s not my outrage we need to worry about, it’s the French.
He really is an incompetent buffoon, and he’s dragging all of us down with him
Anyway, you haven’t cleared up what Lie Macron apparently told. It’s clear the French were left in the dark. He was correct on that front.
“It’s not my outrage we need to worry about, it’s the French”
The French outrage is entirely confected for domestic consumption. Macron is carrying on like a flustered drag queen.
It is not as though we’ve blown up their fucking boat and killed someone like they did to the Kiwis.
All we’ve done is terminate a contract in accordance with its terms. Unlike Stairman Dan who terminated a contract by breaching its terms and stole a billion from Victorians to pay for his breach.
Macron is intent on punishing Australia. Fuck him.
is entirely confected
Except of course for the little fact that morrison lied about a multi billion dollar contract to them.
in accordance with its terms.
lol, we’ll find out sooner or later if that is true
The SPA is secret, but an auditor general’s report has revealed it contains “off ramps”, or “exit gates” – points at which Australia could withdraw from the contract in the event of poor performance. What is not clear is what happens if that withdrawal is because of a preference for a different deal instead of a failure by Naval Group to deliver specific outcomes.

Wow! The tiff with Australia sure is big news in France.

Stupid, of course it’s reported, you’ll find it every part of the media. It will be in the LA Times.
But it’s not a top story.
You know, the ones at the top that people are interested in
We’re just the dumb fucks that voted the lying prick in
Not me. But if the lying, incompetent, smug, church going prick is voted in again we’re all well and truly fucked … End of Days here we come … allelujah!
Blood and death upon you sinners and non believers … for Scotty shall reap the rewards!!
But it’s not a top story.
lol yomm, the contract break was weeks ago. As for saying he lied to him, that’s been common knowledge over there since that.
It’s news here, because it’s OUR character he’s trashing, not theirs.
And when I say ‘our’ character, pretty sure yor not included 😉
Hallelujah indeed TB 😉
(Wow! The tiff with Australia sure is big news in France.
Indeed, the little-big ‘national interest’ tiff is central to Macron’s imminent re-election prospects, says Dutto…(not) of Morrison’s performances, at COP26’s The Plan’s The Australian Way’s big day(ze) out showcase.
It’s almost on a par, perhaps, with Our Poorlean’s just popping-up to take hyper-‘Ocker’ credit — much-improving on the Nat’s usual bargaining standards of umming-and-ahhing for much, much more than seventeen days over the details of doing less than the bare minimum in return for that’s-for-us-to-know-and-youse-lot-not-to-find-out — for (at best, unnecessary, and, more likely, effectively vote-suppressing, and therefore democratically-harmful) ‘voter id’ laws, in what is otherwise expected to be a close election, among an, um, crowded field of alt-‘Liberals’ (yes, looking at you Clive & Co, oh, and maybe Mr X redux, and, err, not you, pesky Rex).
Or something like that.)
” the contract break”
What term of what contract was broken?
What term of what contract was broken?
A good question, so perhaps if I put the answer up again, you can read it again …. slowly this time?
“The SPA is secret, but an auditor general’s report has revealed it contains “off ramps”, or “exit gates” – points at which Australia could withdraw from the contract in the event of poor performance. What is not clear is what happens if that withdrawal is because of a preference for a different deal instead of a failure by Naval Group to deliver specific outcomes.”
I find it interesting that they grubmint are making a lot of noise about cost blowouts and time overruns, but that wasn’t the reason they gave the French.
Which brings us back to that Klaxon article
“Termination for convenience clauses are common in construction contracts, however they are infrequently used because they expose the terminating party to large costs and damages.”
Whether ditching the deal was right or wrong is moot at this point. The issue was the manner in which it was done. Nobody can seriously argue it was handled well (That’s yor cue yomm). The further question is, how MUCH did our pm mislead their President by?
Astride The Worlds Stage lolz
That’s a long winded way of saying – I don’t know
“A good question, so perhaps if I put the answer up again, you can read it again …. slowly this time?”
Why did you bother? Your quote does not even assert that any contractual term was broken much less specify what that term was.
The I-G report does not say the contract was broken. And the Klaxon propaganda is laughable – speaking about what provisions generally might be included in construction contracts (itself a broad and varied category) tells us nothing about the specifics of the contract with the French company.
Your earlier reference to the breaking of a contract is at best agenda-driven speculation. You have no proof of it at all. Just statements like “What is not clear is….” and vague generalities.
There are things to criticise about Morriscum’s handling of this. Why not stick to established facts instead of making things up and destroying your own credibility?
So, going back to my original question, Tom R, perhaps you can answer it this time: What term of what contract was broken?
Your quote does not even assert that any contractual term was broken much less specify what that term was.
Oh, it says what they say it was, they say it was ‘for convenience’ . So are they lying? They are the ones getting ready to sue us. We, instead, just keep leaking stuff, changing our story, and being more duplicitous. And throwing our new friends under the bus too.
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/sep/29/australia-tore-up-french-submarine-contract-for-convenience-naval-group-says
We won’t know for until it’s settled through the courts. Why did it need to get to this?
malcum reckons he knows 😉
“We won’t know for until it’s settled through the courts.”
Epic failure to answer the question. Again. Just an admission that you don’t know. But don’t let that stop you. You undermine your credible arguments by accompanying them with lies.
Again. Just an admission that you don’t know.
You mean, with statements like
“Oh, it says what they say it was,”
or
“we’ll find out sooner or later”
nobody except those in the room know for certain
But we do know we broke the contract, we just don’t know the reason yet. The French have said they know. The Australians have said several things, but seem hesitant to sit on one.
It could have been through a gateway, it could have been through a very expensive gateway, but break it we did.
And we didn’t tell them, which is the issue atm (the actual break cost will come later)
I also wonder at the cost down the road of behavior. Nobody will trust us anymore, no matter what gateway we used to break the deal.
hmm, so now his defense about him not lying is …. he had to lie?
“But we do know we broke the contract”
We do? How so? You just said: “nobody except those in the room knows for certain”
You do understand that breaching a contract involves doing something not permitted or not doing something required under the terms of a contract. Not renewing or not extending or not signing a new contract for the next phase is not a breach unless there is some obligation to do so.
The French, cheered on by ALP types, are behaving very badly, hysterical prima donnas that they are. They are just upset they are not going to rob the Australian people of $90 billion for the useless subs Turdball ordered.
You do understand that breaching a contract involves doing something not permitted
I said broke, not breach.
You can legally break a contract, that’s why it has clauses?
Perhaps that’s the issue here, break != breach?
“Perhaps that’s the issue here, break != breach?”
That is a distinction without a difference.
A bilateral contract (which is what we are dealing with here) is a set of legally binding promises made by the parties and contained in the terms of the contract. Performing a contract in accordance with its terms is not the same as breaking a contract.
If a contract expires and is not extended, renewed or replaced it is not broken.
As noted above, a contract is a set of obligations placed on the parties. If they perform those obligations the contract is not broken.
A contract is broken where a party fails to perform any of the binding promises it has made.
The French have a case of disappointed expectations. They hoped Australia would renew and are disappointed that we did not. That is not breaking any contractual obligation at all.
You have been unable to show any term of the contract that was broken hence the contract was not broken. A contract is merely the sum of its terms.
That is a distinction without a difference.
I’m just saying what the papers are sayin’
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/sep/29/australia-tore-up-french-submarine-contract-for-convenience-naval-group-says
Under the SPA, Australia will pay a “break fee” to Naval Group, but company is also planning to seek further compensation.
The guy lies to Macron, leaks his personal messages, then tells him to move on from it. we really are going further and further into the quagmire with this idiot abroad
Musical Interlude
“The guy lies to Macron”
What lie did he tell?
The hysterical granny-rooter should apologise for calling Morrison a liar. After that it was perfectly proper for Morrison to leak information to the contrary. Macron should apologise but he won’t he is playing this for domestic political advantage and the ALP and their media shills and their grubby little trolls are siding with the lying frog for their own political advantage.
What lie did he tell?
That Macron knew the Subs contract was being broken before the announcement was made for our new one. I’m not sure why this is so difficult for you to grasp
What lie did Macron tell as you claimed?
“I’m not sure why this is so difficult for you to grasp”
Could be I’m not up to speed. Perhaps you could quote the exact words of Morrison that you say constitutes a lie?
Perhaps you could quote the exact words of Morrison that you say constitutes a lie?
Since this has gone on behind closed doors, no, I can’t. But the timeline of events show that we lied to them
A high-level French diplomat said that during a June meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Morrison was evasive when asked whether Australia was considering switching to nuclear-powered submarines — a major impetus for Australia’s pact with the U.S. and Britain.
France also points to an August 30 joint statement from French and Australian defense and foreign affairs ministers that stressed the “importance” of the existing submarine deal.
https://www.politico.eu/article/australia-france-scott-morrison-submarine-contract-national-interest/
Plus the reems of links from the thread from when this broke. We may have raised concerns, bit at no point did we flag anything about cancelling it. And the evasiveness from morrison back in June shows he wasn’t telling him the truth when asked pointedly about the nuclear option.
A lie isn’t as simple as ‘no Carbon Tax’, which, as we all now know, was never even a lie.
But telling someone that everything is fine, and to continue to go ahead, while all the time planning to leave, is a massive lie, and deserves the French condemnation.
“no, I can’t.”
Didn’t think so.
I think I mentioned…it’s time for Macron to get over it. The French have short memories, so remind them-
* Practicing dropping nuclear bombs in the Pacific
* Creating the New Caledonia uprising debacle
* Engaging in state sponsored terrorism in a friendly country, with the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior.
* The murder that resulted
* Single handedly disrupting ANZUS
Such a proud record of diplomacy in the Pacific
“President Macron and I have a very, very open and very transparent, and very friendly relationship where we can speak candidly to each other about these issues,” Morrison said on 16 June.

lie
This text was submitted as evidence that Macron’s outrage – the accusations about lying and Australia stabbing France in the back – were entirely confected, because the president knew all along the French contract was about to be dumped.
Actually, the message confirmed exactly the opposite.

Less than 2 weeks later, we announced the deal with the US and UK
Now you have gone full dropkick drongo, Tom R. You think that because the usual dumb leftist suspects are siding with the granny-rooter normal people actually give a shit.
The big-picture is that Australia is much better off with AUKUS and being rid of the stupid deal dumb mongrel Turdball got us into.
France engaged in state sponsored terrorism, authorised by their president, against a friendly nation.
And they did this because some people in the Pacific wanted them to stop setting off nuclear weapons nearby.
That’s their record, and people should remind them of it
“That’s their record, and people should remind them of it”
True. But the ALP and their dumb shills are not going to do that anytime soon.
The big-picture is that Australia is much better off with AUKUS and being rid of the stupid deal dumb mongrel Turdball got us into.
That was the libs doing, in fact, morrison was deep in on it. I’m very sure that normal people actually give a shit about our elected leader lying to other elected leaders, and then trashing OUR brand around the world.
murdochs minions will be digging deep to get him out of this hole
But the ALP and their dumb shills are not going to do that anytime soon.
No, they should be reminding them to look into their own glass houses before casting stones.
Australia engaged in supporting our enemy, and all for the loot. Keep throwing the same rock yomm, cos theirs a veritable village of glasshouses sitting right here.
So, splats, what lie do think Macron has told? 🙂
Remind them too that a over a third of the French electorate prefered their version of Pauline Hanson to Macron
Look what we voted in ffs yomm
LOOK o-o Over Here lol
Do you really think the Australian government looks anything like the national front?
One of my retirement plans was to spend a month or two in France each year. I only got to do that once, so I hope this tiff is still percolating away in 6 months so that I can discuss it directly with people there!
Do you really think the Australian government looks anything like the national front?
Are they full of science denying, sky fairy fearing rape apologists?
Are you familiar with the National Front? Bizarre.
And a third of France preferred that pack of racist Nazi nutcases to Macron.
I’m really hoping the tiff continues! You’re providing me with some training for the exchanges in 6 or 7 months

AWB oil-for-wheat nil
TomR
What??
We have been selling wheat to Iraq for over 100 years. We were legally selling wheat to Iraq under the Oil for Food program. Hundreds of countries were selling food to Iraq under that scheme run by the UN.
“””””””The Oil-for-Food Programme (OIP), established by the United Nations in 1995 (under UN Security Council Resolution 986)[1] was established to allow Iraq to sell oil on the world market in exchange for food, medicine, and other humanitarian needs for ordinary Iraqi citizens without allowing Iraq to boost its military capabilities.”””””””
Apparently being duplicitous isn’t good. I do like the way the msm try to make it out like it’s France who are being the assholes here. So typical
Suggesting the government here is anything like the National Front in France, is exceptionally ignorant
Even for someone cloistered in ALP wankville

Our PM Lies to the French President over breaking a multi billion dollar contract with them that HE fought for
LEAKS that Presidents private text messages to the world media to try and prove he didn’t lie, when all it does it support the case against him.
LEAKS a 15 page US government document to embarrass President Joe Biden because ….???
And yomm wants to focus on a party that isn’t in government in France. One who sounds a lot like our nazi loving mob of wankers back here

Yes, because the States dug deep, in all respects, the feds think they should be getting credit.
People need to understand, we managed this DESPITE them, not because of them
Together, the prime minister, his health minister and the secretary of the department of health have overseen the most expensive public policy mistakes in Australian history, but to hear Scott Morrison speak is to hear a man seeking praise for his performance. As Anthony Albanese has said often, Morrison failed in his two critical jobs: quarantine and vaccines. While the final tally cannot yet be known, the cost of these failures already runs to the tens of billions of dollars, with many lives lost and many more almost certain to follow.

The Friendlyjordies producer Kristo Langker has pleaded not guilty to stalking and intimidating charges following his arrest over two encounters with New South Wales deputy premier John Barilaro.
Twice, he encountered him twice, and one was a chance encounter where he tried to get the dopey crook to fill out his legal forms correctly.
But it highlights the problems with our legal system. It has cost jordies thousands to defend himself, and most of that went into paying because of what was said under parliamentary privileges
Luckily, he has the ability to crowd fund for this, but most people don’t have that luxury. No wonder so many politicians are launching action at the drop of a hat these days.

How daft are Australian punters if the kiddies playing at governing Australia in Canberra win the next election?
The technology in the Coalition’s cut-down version of the NBN cost up to three times more than originally forecast and was closer to the initial estimated cost of a revised version of Labor’s full-fibre plan, according to figures the government has sought to keep secret for almost a decade.
The previously redacted 2013 figures detailing the estimated cost of the Coalition’s alternative model – relying on trouble-plagued pay-TV cables and fibre-to-the-node technology – show the true scale of the NBN cost blowout over the past eight years.
When the Coalition won government in 2013, then communications minister Malcolm Turnbull commissioned a strategic review into the national broadband network to validate switching from rolling out fibre-to-the-premises for 93% of homes to a mixture of older technology using Telstra and Optus cable networks and fibre-to-the-node which then utilised existing copper lines to premises.
The report, released in December 2013, claimed the former Labor government’s model would cost $74bn and not be completed until 2024, while the Coalition’s model would cost $41bn and be finished in 2020.

No, it’s all about keeping the true rulers of the cuntry happy, while he runs around stealing plebs food, and lying his ass off about … well, everything
MEET AUSTRALIA’S BATSHIT INSANE MINING BILLIONAIRES
If you want to know why a country that regularly catches fire has such disastrous climate policy, start here.

“Which then is somehow repeated”
Hmm, I wonder how 😉
Pretty sure it’s Bill Shortens fault though
We were debt free in 1972. Then Whitlam/ALP trashed the budget and govt debt kept increasing until 1996. Howard/Costello turned that around and reduced govt debt to zero.
Then Rudd/Swan/ALP trashed the budget and started runaway debt. Whitlam/LABOR started a runaway debt truck that was not turned around for 20 years.
I suspect it will be 40 years this time, if ever our govt debt gets under control.
When Labor trashes something it stays trashed
Greetings from not Victoria where Dan’s record remains
* World’s longest lockdown***
* 4 times as many cases as NSW, so it’s lucky we didn’t become like Sydney
* Dan’s Pandemic legislation that seeks to avoid parliamentary oversight
“Serious journalists, need to look at this NONSENSE and call it out for what it is.” That is to continue to adopt ALP talking points in relation to each and every story. The ABC sets a fine example in this regard.
“But it highlights the problems with our legal system. It has cost jordies thousands to defend himself, and most of that went into paying because of what was said under parliamentary privileges
Luckily, he has the ability to crowd fund for this, but most people don’t have that luxury. No wonder so many politicians are launching action at the drop of a hat these days.”
LOL @ TomR
You ever heard about trying to abolish 18C ?
You ever heard about trying to abolish 18C ?
You understand that trying to find someone in breach of 18c is far bigger hurdle than just plain old defamation.
And the thing with the ones that actually went ahead, the complainants withdrew, but the defendants were still left way out of pocket.
It’s the problem with defamation from people with an unlimited ‘blind trust’ 😉
“It’s the problem with defamation from people with an unlimited ‘blind trust’”
That was bad.
Worse was that Mongrel Milligan was funded by the taxpayer. But that is all the ABC is – an enterprise so conducted as to enable the misappropriation of public funds by a cabal of leftist cunts to advance their political agenda.
The technology in the Coalition’s cut-down version of the NBN cost up to three times more than originally forecast and was closer to the initial estimated cost of a revised version of Labor’s full-fibre plan,
Did the report say how long Labors FTTP would take to build?? FTTP is obviously the best but it needs an underground pipe to protect the fibre cable. Most homes do not have one. So that means building a trench down every street and into every home. Very time consuming.
Turnbull recently tweeted that half the country would still be on ADSL if no changes were made. Instead the NBN is finished.
Better to build a inferior NBN quickly than a Rolls Royce version finished in 2040
My thoughts are with YoM and ToSY at this difficult time… 😆 😆 😆
JUST IN:
Support for Vic Labor is higher today than at the 2018 “DanSlide” election, at 58 / 42 2PP.
Dan Andrews sits on a comfortable 60% personal approval rating – highest among younger voters at 72%.
Vic Liberals have suffered a 9 point drop in voter support since last year.
But wait, there’s more…….
“Scott Morrison’s approval rating at lowest point since aftermath of black summer bushfires”

It’s fine! What would we do if we didn’t have Dan to criticise
“Dan Andrews sits on a comfortable 60% personal approval rating”
Faaaaak!
But wait there’s more! LOL!

True:
We are not alone … 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I always liked Keating, but he’s wrong. Governments cannot give the green light to the CCP
Nor a red rag to a raging bull … when all you have is a penknife … even if Dad is going to get you a Bowie knife for christmas … and he’s got a big shotgun … but he’s five clicks too far away …
Do you throw a couple of rocks – or shut up and stand still?
I see diplomacy is dead … killed by the LNP Dinosaur Club.
If you want to rattle sabres do it on your own!
Thank goodness all those damas were built after the last drought … oh, wait! 🙄

Keating sits on an advisory board to the China Development Bank
Yet another treasonous turd bought and paid for by China, making money spruiking for genocidal despots.
Yes, Keating has a clear conflict of interest in his views about the CCP.
He gave the green light to a brutal dictatorship to invade a democracy. It’s shameful
I wonder whether those that protested for the independence of East Timor will feel the same way about Taiwan
I wonder whether those that protested for the independence of East Timor will feel the same way about Taiwan
Please explain? The history of China seems be beyond comprehension of some.
Based on that theory “those that” should have protested for the unification of Vietnam …
Mmmm …

Yet another treasonous turd bought and paid for by China, making money spruiking for genocidal despots.
I can safely assume you also refer to both sides of politics and not your oft quoted odd view that anyone who doesn’t support a right wing government must be a communist sympathiser?
Note I doubt Paul Keating could be bought … for anything.
On what basis is Taiwan less entitled to self determination than East Timor?
“I can safely assume you also refer to both sides of politics”
Indeed you can. The Chinese are careful to pay traitors on both sides of politics. Although at the moment they seem to be getting better value from Keating.
“I doubt Paul Keating could be bought … for anything.”
So don’t believe your lying eyes, then. Keating gobbles down money from the communist regime via its wholly owned subsidiary the China Development Bank and, purely coincidentally, consistently makes rabidly pro-China public pronouncements. Keating is asshoe!
On what basis is Taiwan less entitled to self determination than East Timor?
International law?
According to the current Constitution, the definition of ROC territories still includes mainland China. From the international law standpoint, Taiwan and Beijing are still maintaining the relationship of “one country, two governments.” James Crawford, the author of The Creation of States in International Law, also denied Taiwan as an independent country in his book as Taiwan has never explicitly claimed independence.

Yes, Keating has a clear conflict of interest in his views about the CCP
As clear as our grubmints? Who happily paid the Chinese million of taxpayer dollars for useless medical equipment through the slush fund knows as Twiggy
Oh, and he was correct (see above)
Diktator Dan (less dictator than the others, but hey)
Seems the pm is fine with some people protesting with nooses and nazi signs of politicians, while simultaneously showing extreme restraint by refraining from shooting other ones?
Does he have preferred protesters?
Preferred protesters:

Not so preferred protesters:

There is a difference between working with someone, and attacking someone
The nooses may be a give away 😉
“Diktator Dan” is just a useful sideshow for the diktators
The green light we gave to Indonesia to invade East Timor worked out well too
A long standing, stable democracy shouldn’t be given the green light for invasion
“There is a difference between working with someone, and attacking someone”. The pepper spray and truncheons may be a give away!
Can’t keep his hands off the kiddies:
Stop.Electing.Electing.Right.Wing.Dickwits!

The green light we gave to Indonesia to invade East Timor worked out well too
A long standing, stable democracy shouldn’t be given the green light for invasion
So in your eyes invading countries who aren’t democracies is OK? Been to communist Vietnam lately? I have – obviously before Covid.
Australia doesn’t just waste treasure … LNP governments destroy ADF Members and their familys’ lives … playing invader and deputy to Armamerica …
See the irony there?
The green light we gave to Indonesia to invade East Timor worked out well too
A long standing, stable democracy shouldn’t be given the green light for invasion
Nor should they be robbed when the ADF (including my family) have returned East Timor to a democratic status … once again by a John Howard led LNP Coalition government!
What sort of “democratic” government, steals resources, spies on allies and conspires to incarcerate government whistleblowers behind opaque court cases …
Answer: Any LNP led government constantly heading towards dictatorship …
This is hilarious.
The shooter and the people who were shot were white!
Maybe employers should give their white employees the day off
Dan has marginally modified the pandemic legislation.
Opponents parading around with gallows doesn’t add to their credibility. But let’s remember-
* The protests against Howard, when the left ransacked the parliament
* Burning effigies of Howard, Kennett and Fraser
Extremists are extreme because they don’t represent the mainstream.
I think the Andrews government has been negligent and has demonstrated that they default to heavy handed policies.
They only moderate their position after public pressure
The shooter and the people who were shot were white!
Yep! (Sort of) Have you read the story about the lawyer playing with an AR? In court! Finger on trigger … Septic Tanks are even stupider than LNP supporters …
Extremists are extreme because they don’t represent the mainstream.
So you are an extremist … I’ve read you’re comments …
Nor should they be robbed when the ADF (including my family)
have returned East Timor to a democratic status … once again by a John Howard led LNP Coalition government!
Yes. Whitlam/ALP said it was OK for Indonesia to annexe East Timor. Which is what Indonesia did.
Howard sent in the troops and got East Timor their independence
Burning effigies of Howard
???
Were you at this concert by any chance, Tom R?
No, I wasn’t at this one either 😉
Still correct
I must say Tom R, that I’m starting to warm to the Maiden.
I wonder whether Keating has read Silent Invasion.
I think Clive Hamilton has a better take on the CCP than Keating, and is less financially conflicted
And it’s interesting that the CCP apologists often default to the “Australia should know it’s place” inferiority complex.
They seem not to understand that our economy is about the same size as Russia’s
So Keating is pissed that the journos did not refer to his 2013 remarks when commenting on his recent press conference?
Keating is a sensitive little sausage isn’t he? He still ahs a nice turn of phrase – “voluptuous contumely”.
Publicly threatening to murder the premier on the steps of parliament and not being shot or even arrested is a pretty good indicator that you’re not living in a dictatorship.
This is what the Victorian ombudsman said about the amendments to the pandemic legislation-
“What is still lacking, however, is independent scrutiny. Given the wide-ranging impact of these powers on civil liberties and everyday life, they should not only be subject to independent oversight, but also to independent review.”
I’m starting to warm to the Maiden.
They are kinda cuddly 😉
CCP apologists often default to the “Australia should know it’s place” inferiority complex.
Like all of your comments ….. link
So Keating is pissed that the journos did not refer to his 2013 remarks when commenting on his recent press conference?
If you read the article, he mentions that he repeated them in his speech. So, very relevant to the discussion
and is less financially conflicted
Yea, he only wants to sell his book 😦
Publicly threatening to murder the premier on the steps of parliament and not being shot or even arrested is a pretty good indicator that you’re not living in a dictatorship.
Depends, perhaps the ‘dick-tator’ is elsewhere, silently allowing this to happen (while at the same time whimsically pining of the days when protectors could be shot, and how lucky they are that they weren’t)
Yeah, academics get so rich from their book sales. Whereas former politicians that act on behalf of the banks of brutal dictatorships just do it because of their love of banks and dictatorships
Whereas former politicians that act on behalf of the banks of brutal dictatorships just do it because of their love of banks and dictatorships
You mean like the ones who sold off our ports, and continue to allow foreign money from any source to prop up our boiling property market?
Oh, yea, a lot of them are still there 😉
I’ve never endorsed those decisions. In fact you might recall that I’ve said on numerous occasions that Clive Hamilton shamed the political establishment into some belated action.
Who do you think I was referring to when I said “the political establishment”?
Who do you think I was referring to when I said “the political establishment”?
lol
Perhaps you can point to the specific time you mentioned someone apart from Dan or Paul?
Stop pretending
And do you think Keating supports the investment bank of the CCP because the CCP is close to his philosophy or because it’s to his financial advantage?
or because it’s to his financial advantage?
Does it matter in this case, because everybody has a stake here. Why not try and point out where he is wrong?
Is it because you can’t?
I mean, even ‘merica agrees with him (hat tip reb)
Because he wants to give the green light to the CCP to invade Taiwan.
Everyone that says – nothing to do with us or we will just be spectators, is siding with the CCP, particularly if they’re an influential public/political figure.
Don’t send positive signals to the CCP about acceptance of their plan to invade Taiwan
If only he had said something like this, hey yomm
“but China too has equal responsibility for creating a new stable and sustainable order in Asia. As it steps up to a larger leadership role it will at the same time need to be willing to accept and respect restraints on the way it uses its immense strength, because the acceptance of such restraints by great powers is the key to any successful and durable international order”.”
Once you say- we won’t intervene, that’s the green light.
Even if that’s your intention, you don’t advise of it.
You might be familiar with enterprise bargaining. How likely is a union to achieve anything, if they said – don’t worry, we won’t go on strike
Once you say- we won’t intervene, that’s the green light.
Once you say- we WILL intervene, that’s the red rag to the bull.
Diplomacy 101, even the war hawks in ‘merica understand it. But, then again, they aren’t stoking up the drums of war for a short term political strategy, are they?
The CCP should be under no illusion that there is an easy way for them to seize Taiwan
Telling them that we’re not bothered is giving them the easy option
So this is saying ‘we’re not bothered’?
“but China too has equal responsibility for creating a new stable and sustainable order in Asia. As it steps up to a larger leadership role it will at the same time need to be willing to accept and respect restraints on the way it uses its immense strength, because the acceptance of such restraints by great powers is the key to any successful and durable international order”.
The significant signal from Keating was to give the CCP the green light to seize Taiwan. The rest is window dressing
That’s unsatisfactory
The significant signal from Keating
The significant signal from ………… who?
"Paul Keating: The SMH misrepresented my views. This is my reply"
“The significant signal from Keating was to give the CCP the green light to seize Taiwan.”
This is true. Keating’s comments were music to Xi’s little panda ears.
Bleating Keating urged Australia to keep out when China invades Taiwan. The rest was just weasal words.
Bleating Keating urged Australia to keep out when China invades Taiwan. The rest was just weasal words.
It’s easy to see why unfairfax refused to publish Keatings response to their warmongering. patsies are easily placated it seems.
Keating is owed zero. His green light for seizure of Taiwan gives the CCP its propaganda headline
“It’s easy to see why unfairfax refused to publish Keatings response “
Every politician with a bruised ego should have a constitutional right to rant in reply?
His green light for seizure of Taiwan gives the CCP its propaganda headline
Actually, it was costellos paper that supplied them the headline, by misrepresenting what he said.
Why? is the question
Yeah.
Keating says- Taiwan should not be of significant concern to us, and that’s somehow misrepresented.
Keating earns plenty of cash via the CCP, so his opinion here is comprised
Howard sent in the troops and got East Timor their independence
Howard DEPLOYED the ADF (ADF means Australian DEFENCE Force) who returned East Timor to democratic rule … HOWARD then robbed ET of their gas assets!
You seem to have SC – Selective Comprehension – based primarily with LNP Government actions – a serious affliction … I suggest you seek help …
HOWARD then robbed ET of their gas assets!
We welcome out new underlords ………
