Legal papers have been served on Opposition Leader Tony Abbott by the co-founder of the now-defunct One Nation party.

David Ettridge is suing for $1.5 million, accusing Mr Abbott of acting unlawfully in 1998 by assisting and encouraging litigation against One Nation that led to the party being de-registered.

Mr Ettridge and fellow founder Pauline Hanson were jailed for electoral breaches but the conviction was later overturned.

Mr Ettridge outlined his allegations in an interview with the ABC’s PM program.

“He assisted a gentleman who’d been a former One Nation party member to conduct a series of attacks through the Queensland courts against the One Nation party,” he said.

“Those attacks were completely false and malicious in nature, there was no truth to them, but Mr Abbott continued to provide finance and support through the provision of legal firm barristers and a QC, to help drive that false and malicious argument through the courts.

“And of course by doing that, he was trying to give it credibility it didn’t have.”

An administrative hearing is set to be held in the Supreme Court in Brisbane next month.

“This matter is all about the behaviour of a gentleman who wants to be the next prime minister of Australia,” Mr Ettridge said.

“He is a fellow who has shown no respect at all for the laws of Australia or the laws of Queensland.

“He showed no respect the rights that were enshrined in electoral law for the democratic process of Queensland.”

Mr Abbott’s office has confirmed he has received the papers.

Isn’t this the same man that was calling for Juliar Gillard to step aside pending investigations ,even alone she had not been charged with any wrongdoing ,so now he must practice what he preaches and stand aside as he has been charged with interfering in One Nations affairs ,and there are a few more of his front bench including Miss Bishop ,Christopher Pyne ,Joe Hockey and others over the Slipper Ashby affair ..

Abbott should stand aside, so should Gillard.

Slipper and Thomson should resign from parliament.

So should Wayne Swan, but that’s on the basis of intelligence.

If the administrative hearing says Abbott has a case to answer …it puts him in an invidious position.

Perhaps he should consider his future.

Tonight New Zealand passed legislation allowing same-sex couples and intersex people to get married. _ The vote passed by a huge majority, 77 votes for, 44 against. Read the story here. This is an outstanding effort. _ Well done New Zealand.

Recently, Shelley Argent of PFLAG Queensland _ (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) issued invitations to our federal MPs and Senators to meet with her and some young people, raised in same-sex families. The response has been nothing short of underwhelming.

It seems our political representatives need a bit of a kick up the proverbial arse – and that’s where you come in, dear readers.

Glad to see Abbott having to answer for what he did, I’m no friend of One Nation but do care about free speech. I wrote to the papers in opposition to Hanson’s imprisonmnet at the time, as did others of the left. But the right was silent. What a loathsome toad Abbott is…and the right in general are.
