Trump impeached again!

January 14, 2021

It’s a sad day for Donald Trump and his army of sycophants, suckholes and the conga line of supporters who hang on his every word (and invent a few of their own in their parallel-universe of undying loyalty) as a record number of Republicans vote with the Democrats to impeach the President for a second time.

The Democratic majority was joined by 10 Republicans, making the House’s move bipartisan – unlike Trump’s first impeachment less than 13 months ago.

The 10 votes make the impeachment the most bipartisan ever, another historical marker which also creates a deep split in the Republican party which is unlikely to end with Trump’s departure.

The vote ended with Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker, in the chair, declaring the count of 232 to 197 – but with silence from the Democrats and handful of Republicans still present. Pelosi had warned her members not to celebrate the outcome.

It ended a day of debate in which Pelosi had called Trump a ‘clear and present danger,’ as Democrats said they were standing in a ‘crime scene’ and demanded that Trump pay a price for a campaign of ‘lies and conspiracy theories’ which had fomented violence.

Apparently Trump’s ‘people’ say he will be issuing a statement soon, but it’s kinda made all the more sweet knowing that he can’t jump onto Twitter to vent his anger.

ONLY? It still is a bloody, huge figure …

Australia’s financial watchdog has drastically reduced the sum of money it says was sent from the Vatican to Australia, the Vatican says, after it earlier reported a huge figure that raised suspicions of money laundering.

The joint Vatican-Australian review showed only $A9.5 million transited between 2014 and 2020, a fraction of the $A2.3 billion originally reported by the watchdog to widespread astonishment.

Not really. It was a breakaway section of a valid demonstration.

But, it all goes to intent, doesn’t it. That was a spontaneous, alcohol fueled action, that didn’t at all show any intent other than showing their outrage, whereas what happened in the US was a premeditated, but poorly planned, attempt to take over the Government apparatus.

From prompting by the soon to be ousted President. And only failed because of the actions of a few. It was what could have been the beginning of an all out civil war. That is how close it got. And those responsible, from the President down, need to be held accountable for that.

    STAND BACK!

The adults are in charge now!

But in recent weeks the attempts by the Australian government to seek retribution are looking increasingly like an own goal.

Australia’s response – restricting Chinese investment in various sectors, including infrastructure, communications, agriculture and construction – has worsened the already toxic relationship.

Why is the only thing we manufacture military weapons from subs, to drones, to mechanised vehicles … why not solar panels, wind turbines, hydrogen storage …

This government really needs to be changed and quickly … useless and hopeless …

Australia has approved at least 14 permits for the export of military goods to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates over the last year and a half, despite their involvement in the Yemen conflict which has created a humanitarian crisis.

Department of Defence has also revealed it has approved permits for $580,000 of military goods to Turkey since late 2019, even though the defence minister, Linda Reynolds, announced a “pause” of such exports at that time because of concerns the country’s incursion into north-east Syria was “causing great civilian suffering”.

The latest figures have prompted calls for the Australian government to show more transparency in the way it discloses exports of weapons and other military goods, which are shrouded in secrecy.

I did not miss the point. Manufacturing is expensive in Australia. I don’t know anything about the military stuff we make but if it is true perhaps they found a small niche market.

Apparently we still make toilet paper in Australia for the simple reason is that it is VERY expensive to import. Shipping costs are huge because it is very light. Cheaper to make it here.

NSW and Vic had zero cases today!
But GO DAN!! The record holder with 700+ cases a day! A genuine second wave with months and months and months of severe lockdown
Gladys had an insipid second wave that peaked at 30 a day. Restrictions were pathetic, and most people were able to normally live their lives.
Really, did NSW’s effort even qualify as a second wave?
    Thanks Dan!!

You are wasting your time, ToM.

While reasonable people can look at the numbers and draw the obvious conclusions, the partisans among us can’t get beyond ALP = good, coalition = bad.

“What ‘obvious conclusions’ are those of which you speak?”

Being responsible for 90% of Australia’s covid deaths suggests that Running Dog Dan’s government did something wrong – a conclusion even his ridiculous non-inquiry could not avoid:

“The final report from the inquiry into Victoria’s botched hotel quarantine program has been unable to determine who commissioned the use of private security and has slammed the Andrews Government for failing to do “proper analysis” of the plan.

Former judge Jennifer Coate said in the report that none of the more than 70,000 documents provided to the inquiry demonstrated a “contemporaneous rationale” for the decision to use private security or an approval of that decision from the upper levels of government.

“Such a finding is likely to shock the public,” Ms Coate said.

“The decision as to the enforcement model for people detained in quarantine was a substantial part of an important public health initiative and it cost the Victorian community many millions of dollars.”

Then the same applies to all jurisdictions, doesn’t it?

It’s amazing how many excuses Tom R can come up with for the debacle known as the Victorian Government hotel quarantine program.
    Did every jurisdiction-
    * use WhatsApp to recruit staff to work in a hazardous workplace?
    * provide diversity training before safety training?
    * fail to review its program even after non conformance were raised directly with the premier at a press conference?
    * not review safety systems following the initial mobilisation?
    * knowingly engage “cowboy contractors “?
    * not bother with adequate oversight of safety systems ?
